I just bought a 2003 Ultra classic with a screamin Eagle engine, fully loaded with all the option. It had been sitting in a garage for 7 years never taken on the road, had a complete safety inspection. Changed the oil, battery and flush gas tank, it needs new spark plugs and air cleaner. Other than the minor service in excellent condition 34,000miles. Extremely happy so far.

2002 Road King FLHR sat on my lift for 7 months - started doing complete cam chest upgrade and summer in TN last year was brutal! - i was working in a hot warehouse and coming home to hot garage (no AC yet), so I just didn't feel like working in the heat! Mar to Sept it sat. Finally finished it, rode it to FL in Oct. Runs like a scalded dog now!

14 UL sat outside (VA) for 2 years. Had it towed to the shop early 2018. Replaced battery and did the 30K service which was due. Got a few good rides out of it then the temp light, engine light and the security light came on solid. On the way to the shop I was rear ended. So... the codes apparently showed an oxygen sensor was bad and the tech explained that could cause the engine to run very lean, very hot and trigger the over temp alarm. He's not taking it out on the road for a test until repairs from the rear end smack are finished (mostly tour pack). I'm not expecting this to be the end of the problems caused by my neglect but I'm determined to get it back in perfect shape.
While in the shop I bought a 2018 Road King Special (oh hell this is a nice bike!). That's heading to the shop next week for a Stage 4 setup. I also bought one of those bike tents and expect to buy another so both bikes can be covered. Except for those 2 years (work got in the way) I ride all year except in the snow. I'd ride more if my house wasn't down 5 miles of dirt road through a cow pasture.
Thanks for the videos. They are a welcome relief from the doom and gloom of forums. I think I have a better understanding of the MoCo, the bikes, and the people that work on them.

I had a medical condition that has lasted 12 years so since then I had only done about 20 miles so the bike had been sat there most of that time. I have just started riding again and I seem to be ok after being put on heart tablets. I'm a lot better now and really glad to be back on my 2001 Deuce. I have just ordered a new 2020 Ultra Limited being old school I have got it in black and chrome. Can't wait for it to be delivered. I have just started to make some videos from the bike too as watching your videos gave me some inspiration. Please if you have time I would love you to come over to my channel tell me what you think lol. I also love my barbeque more than most of the UK. I have a big smoker too. So a bit of BIKES BLUES AND BARBEQUE so to speak.
Any way dude thanks for being awesome and for your really helpful videos. Cheers brother

Hey John, I know this video is old, but I just found you a few days ago. I have started the process of looking for a new bike and I think I have broken down and decided to get a Harley. I have owned a 09 KLR 650 (will be selling) and a 07 Honda VFR800, bought bother bikes used. The KLR sat for a year inside all holes plugged fluids topped off. I took it down for maintenance and then life happened. but at least I had my VFR to ride, anyway, after finally getting her back up and going all I had to change was the inline fuel filter, and a plastic part the I broke doing so. Anyway loving the videos.

John Maxwell I think I have it down to two, the Road King Special or the Heritage Classic. I like the Heritage because it is a little smaller than the Road King and has the bigger motor. But I really don’t like the shield and was thinking if I got either one I could pick up an aftermarket Batwing Fairing and put cup holders where the speakers should be and storage where the radio would be. I do not really need music or radio as I wear a full face with a SENA. Headset.

I only ride mine about 400-500 miles a year. I firmly believe that one should keep the miles to a minimum so as to keep the value up. I know that mine will greatly increase in value over the next 15 -20 years. I rather ride my Burgman to the coffee shop and be able to park it on the sidewalk. You can't do that with a Harley. My brother just bought a 89 FLH with only 253 (actual) miles for 20,500. dollars in pristine condition. What a smoking deal!!!

My bike lives in Florida, I live in Virginia, While that may seem a bit odd I vacation 4.5 weeks a year in Florida so every April, August and 2.5 weeks in December I get to ride. I do plan on getting a bike for Virginia I just don't have a garage to keep one here at the moment. So my bike sits more than it gets ridden, however I perform a pre trip inspection prior to washing and riding.

Old men buy heavy motorcycles which suck in town compared to more agile versions, then hate pushing them around the garage. Next stop, Craigslist! I'll stick with my FXRs. Light weight, great handling, and easy to upgrade including Twin Cam swaps, but I got an S&S V124 because I detest the mongtarded TC style bottom end which only exists (see factory videos if you think I'm kidding!) to facilitate automated assembly.

I had the same problem on my bike. Clutch cable was leaking caused by dirt in the transmission vent fitting. Pretty sure the previous owner let the bike sit for a while

I like your videos! And I have a 03 electra glide from a guy that said he bought the bike home and it would not shut off he got mad and your off the seat and disconnect the battery. Then laid the seat on and pushed it next to a shed four years of sitting in the open with rain running off shed on the bike! For (4) years I've done some things so far came time to install battery with key off the lights came on and will not go off !!#~%! Any way you know what is going wrong??? I have no clue

how mush does it cost to replace a rear or front tire

You definitely need a lift table with the removable end piece so you don't have to jack the bike up so high to remove the rear wheel! I have a lift like that. Also makes getting the wheel in place easy as you can lift it up with your knee/thigh and hold it there as you install the axle. You know this, I'm sure. Tell your boss that as a youtube star, you need a better lift!

Maybe 4.5 months at the most my bike sits in the garage but I do start it up once in awhile and let her warm up.

Even though I'm in Pennsylvania, my bike doesn't get "put away" for winter. I've never had it parked for more than a month. If I can get a dry day around 40 degrees, and the roads aren't caked with salt, I'll take 'er out.
