    It is So Funny how every time Kent chooses a yarn it's bc it looks like a sports team's color.

    I love the way the Alpenglow sweater came out! I’m not sure if you’ve made your changes yet, but I have a couple of ideas on how to edit the things you are trying to.
    1. The Neckline: I believe it was Jenna Phipps who had either knit or crocheted a sweater and had issues with the neckline laying flat. She sewed in some skinny elastic thread and it helped the neckline to sit properly and would not add the additional bulk it sounds like you’re trying to avoid with yours. Just a thought!
    2. The Length: That lavender ribbing is such a pretty feature on the cuffs of the sleeves and the neckline, maybe it would be nice to add that to the hem of the sweater?
    Regardless, it’s beautiful! Congratulations!!

      about the lavender ribbing: that's exactly what I was thinking too!

    I love love your Alpenglow, I'm now inspired to finish my sweater. And I agree that the quality of your editing on the last video was really really good. I love your podcast, the content and editing is one of the more professional ones that I watch. Thanks Natalie for making knitting so fun!!

    Amazing work on your Alpenglow sweater!
    Suggestion: Instead of reworking the neckline, is it possible that if you stitch the edge with elastic thread that might pull the edges in a little more?
    Like the mini video of Football and Knitting, however it looked like the title should have been “Football, Food & Knitting”. The food looked delicious!
    Didn’t you move your video setup / office to your living room? I thought you were planning on putting a comfy chair in the bedroom corner.
    Regardless, thanks for sharing your knitting projects, progress and plans. It is helpful to keep me motivated to “use” my yarn stash, instead of just “collecting” yarn. 😊🧶💕

    Your Alpenglow is stunning. Have you thought about making a coordinating hat for it, maybe a Musselburgh with stripes or half the spincycle and half the lavender/ purple yarn?

    Your Alpenglow is so beautiful! I might just have to make it now... Your plan of tying the ends on the sleeves sounds great and like much less work, but I'm curious, why didn't you knit over your ends as you worked the sleeves? (I hate weaving in ends so I always work over them, but I also find that a little annoying.)

    I love your Alpenglow! Have you thought about just knitting the neck ribbing 2" long and folding it over? Then you could add elastic which might cinch the neckline in - just a thought! Can't wait to see what you end up doing with it!

  • @peggybork5623
    @peggybork5623 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    On your Alpenglow you could pick up a row above the rib and pick up a row a few row up and cut. Add new yarn and knit the extra repeat and graft the ribbing back on. Hope this makes sense.

    IMHO, the Alpenglow collar does need to be a bit smaller, but you could do that via decreases instead of quadrupling its length. I had one sweater that I used decreases at the sides of the neck to not only bring it in but also change the shape from being wider to being rounder. For a reference point for sweater length in general, measure from your underarm to your waist. That way you can tell more easily about how much to lengthen the body of these sweaters, adding more to make it go below your waist. My DC would love how cropped the Alpenglow is - but I wouldn’t. I feel ya. And yes, working from the bottom up does mean that the sleeves should end at the underarm, before any sleeve cap or shaping (if there is any).

    Love the alpenglow…but please redo the neckline/collar it looks strange the gaping makes the beautiful sweater look messy. Please don’t settle. Oke I need to watch the rest of the episode now I think you catch my drift.😀

    I love the colors in your Alpen Glow. The sweater looks amazing. I think the length looks good on you if you want more of a cropped look. You could also add a couple of more inches a longer length is more comfortable for you. Either way, the sweater looks stunning on you!

    You should keep the swatches to make a granny square style sweater or bag. Your swatches are even pretty! I haven’t knitted in 10+ years, only crochet. I am so inspired to whip out the knitting needles.

    Can you do a video when you fix the collar for your sweater? I'm making a sweater top down as well and I don't like the collar and want to make a double brim collar. Thank you

  • @susepotts
    @susepotts 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I had the same issue with a spiraling self-striping sock yarn, and I also fixed it by splitting the yarn and doing helical knitting. The most important thing when doing that is pulling out a few feet of each yarn and lining up the two strands so that the color sections don’t match up. So, when you lay the two strands out side by side, they shouldn’t be orange at the same time. One should always be teal when the other is orange.

    I have never done a sweater. What worsted pattern do you think is 1st time friendly? I see some many people do top down sweaters so you can try it on by have also heard bottom us is a great way to go also. Do you like both? Is one easier than the other or the same? Good luck with your sweater. Take a pic of you and your friend together with your sweater on. Judy

  • @MySweetT1

    I love how the alpenglow turned out but agree that the neck and length need tweeked. I think that it would hit perfectly on your hips with about 2 more inches. I liked a post on here that suggested adding decreases on the shoulder area of the collar to help shape it without having to add more length. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

    Ah that is so special that you and Kent can work together. It is so special to have the support of your partner. I just released my first two knitting sock patterns with a make a long for the month and while I was designing it, my husband which helps out with a LOT of things but not computer or knitting related, kept asking me: What can I do to help? He basically helped me to keep my housecleaning tasks etc going while doing his own work and without that I still would not be finished. Because of that I really enjoy seeing you two working togehter and understand the JOY in that. Well done!

    Loving the two new sweaters once you get the neck redone on the alien glow and a bit more length it will be super. The yarn you are using for the pink is really interesting and the texture is lovely. I’ve just got some drops flora to make a second long summer cardigan as I love mine too, such an easy cardigan to wear. Just started my MKALand it’s very interesting so far just finished row 8. Happy knitting xx
