About the Game:
Baldur's Gate 3 is a 2023 role-playing video game developed and published by Larian Studios. It is the third main installment to the Baldur's Gate series, based on the tabletop, fantasy role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons.
Baldur's Gate 3 takes place in the fictional world of the Forgotten Realms during the year of 1492 DR, over 120 years after the events of the previous game, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, and months after the events of the playable Dungeons & Dragons 5e module, Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus. The story is set primarily in the Sword Coast in western Faerûn, encompassing a forested area that includes the Emerald Grove, a druid grove dedicated to the deity Silvanus; Moonrise Towers and the Shadow-Cursed Lands, which are covered by an unnatural and sentient darkness that can only be penetrated through magical means; and Baldur's Gate, the largest and most affluent city in the region, as well as its outlying suburb of Rivington. Other places the player visits include the Underdark, the Astral Plane and Avernus.

At this rate, we'll be starting Act 2 on New Year's Day 2026. Loving this game to pieces though. That is all. Happy New Year folks!
Sounds about right
You must be ahead of your TH-cam videos. Hope you're having fun! Seems like it would take forever to edit, so thank you for the hard work. It really shows
The crazy part, there is so much you still won’t see even after you eventually beat the game. I’ve been playing this game for over a year and I still get surprised. I’ve beat the game about three times. This is the best game, hands down.
I'm just about to head into Act 2 and my party is level 7, which indicates just how big Act 1 is
I just finished my first playthrough today. I started to play 28th of may 2024. 😄 What a journey, what a ride. 😄💜 Love this game so so much!
‘There’s no privacy in this camp.’ Astarion a minute later: I hear you did the deed…
Great timing 🤌
"After i let you dominate me in the garden?". Yep that's Lea'zel for ya.
Astarion commenting on Joey's 'romp' mockingly makes me think he is either jealous or envious.
Anyone else just forget the horn is in your inventory and then you are in act 3 and find it and go "Oh yeah I forgot about this."
@@echobucket I guarantee this is exactly what I will do
@@echobucket 1000 hours in this game, never used this 😂
@@greenmanjoe1 If you end up in a huge fight in act 1 you should definitely try to remember to use it. It won't be useable in later acts. 💙
@@withxoutxlifeI think I have used it in the second act too. But yes, there are times when it is good to remember.
For me, it's the spider egg from the little nook on the mountain (Joey managed to get it, as I recall). I always forget to use the spider egg in act 1, when it's most effective. It just sits in my inventory, being this 6 pound waste of space because I never use it. :)
I've been waiting for Bite Night! And you're right, Neil Newbon's work is especially outstanding in a game full of amazing performances. If you haven't seen the High Rollers episodes where the BG3 origin cast plays D&D in character, it's worth a watch.
This is quickly becoming one of my favourite BG3 series, and I've seen quite a few 😅
Astarion won't bite you anymore unless you let him, and you didn't let him, so he won't do it. He also can get the happy mood by drinking from enemies/anyone else. Also - you can heal bloodless with lesser restoration or other spells of similar effect.
You can cure bloodless?? I've been failing speech checks because of that "-1" 😅 you never really know the value of 1 until every gith in the creche tries to kill you 😩
@@XV_Limestone there is also a hidden amulet at the druid Grove that gives lesser restoration once per long rest
Your little face when Astarion tried to bite you! It is so much fun watching you play this. xxx I did a playthrough as Astarion and tried to bite everyone without detection, Gale proved....tricky lol.
Oh yes I bit Gale, that was funny 😄 love that wizard (and that vampire)
Take your time i love seeing this kinda playthrough. The game is to be experienced not a speed run. Keep it up
100% this. Enjoy the journey. Relish in the adventure. You only get a first playthrough once.
You hit the right lever! So many people hit the release break and yeet poor Barcus to his doom (which is very funny to see, everyone should do it once), and I just see the entire Barcus quest line slam closed as he goes sailing off into the distance. Barcus comes off a little rough, but we should all be so lucky to have a friend like him.
Spider Mama is a hard one. I usually range sneak attack all the eggs first, so they can't hatch and join the fight. I can manage to break every egg except for one that is JUST out of range. That leaves Spider Mama, one phase spider, and one baby to deal with. If you can, burn the web under her so she falls and takes fall damage. Even better, try to use thunderwave or force damage to yeet her straight into the abyss below.
"She's only one level above us." You'll see when you get there, the difference between level 4 and level 5 is BIG.
I'm so glad he hit the right lever. On my first run I hit the wrong one, but the second run I hit the correct one and ever since he's been one of my favorite characters. As far as NPCs go him and Rolan are tied for my faves. They have such good quest lines
thank you for letting me vicariously re-live playing this game for the first time, so fresh to watch someone playing this and being really into the characters, world-building etc. I am SEATED
Concerning your cantrip 'friends' for bonuses in dialogue: Use it as often as you like, it doesn't require a spell slot!
Concerning feats:
I love 'Performer' (though I don't recommend it for a tactition run) because it lets non-bard characters play instruments aswell :D You can actually form a band with your companions if they have that feat. In the world you can find lutes, violins, harps, drums and flutes.
Savage attacker for Lae'zel is a great choice imo.
For Shadowheart (and maybe Gale too) the feat 'Battle Caster' is quite useful, too. (Advantage on concentration saving throws + shocking grasp as reaction.)
Loving the playthrough. Two things. You are locked into a relationship with La'Zel unless you end it, so if you want Gale (whose romance is incredible) you will need to end the relationship. Second, in my humble opinion, Astarion has the most interesting plot line. Keep him in the party and let him be a rogue (unlock/disarm traps). He's good at it, far better than Joey.
Good to see you back!
Just so you know- Astarian is wearing light armour, so the bracers of defence don't do anything for him.
Also, the Haste Helm is light armor, so putting it on Karlach means she loses the bonuses she gets for not wearing any armor.
@@stephengibbons4771 Its not light armor tho?
@@KneesOfTheBees is it not? I thought it was but I could be wrong I suppose
@@stephengibbons4771 I think it uses the same model as the base light armor helmet, so its a fair mistake to make
@@KneesOfTheBees yeah that must be what I was thinking, I stand corrected.
The camp gossip is crazy 😂
There is no privacy because of tadpoles in party members sculls. This is the same reason anybody always knows what happened while he was cooking in camp, eating dirt or whatever
The camp gossip is one of the reasons I started to play this bi panic dating game.
oepn up Astarion's action page more! He can bite people now, which basically means he heals half the hit points he takes when biting.
I binged this playlist of your playthrough so far. You're doing amazing. I love your calm demeanour. It is super relaxing especially as I've been sick. As for Karmic dice, only turn it off if you want the true RNG experience. Personally I leave it on. It is truly your choice. I've played it both ways and never really noticed much difference.
I love you telling a vampire to chill and just have a burger
Save scum all you want. It’s your game, play it how you want. ☺️
A slight hint.... You can pick pocket Withers...
Thanks so much for the play through! You're my current favorite Baldur's Gate 3 player on TH-cam. Never miss an episode!
Well...if you want to cheat. 😉 (Just teasing a bit...all depends on how you like to balance roll playing vs. beating the game. 🙂)
@@CWReace Pickpocketing is not cheating. If it were, you need a mod to do it.
@@Mellie Totally understand...for me, it's probably more appropriate to say that it's "evil" (when done to a non-evil NPC), and I prefer to play "good" characters. But for people who want to play non-good characters or only want to beat the game system with whatever works, it's certainly not "cheating" to pick anyone's pocket, game-wise. 😃
If I may, the best way to defeat the spider matriarch is probably to wait until she's on the web and destroy the web from under her with fire. Unless she happens to fall into a chasm, that alone won't kill her, but it'll make the fight easier.
Also, best to always bring a magic user to tough battles.
Anyway, I love that you read the books, especially since you're new to the Forgotten Realms setting. Understanding the lore also makes you understand some of the characters and storylines better.
You won't need to save money to respec. You can steal any money you pay to withers right back from him.
Yeah you can just pickpocket and he literally won't care
@@GD67514 You do have to succeed the roll though, so make sure you're on someone stealthy. Trying to pickpocket him as Gale for example won't go very well, in that it would probably take a hundred tries for a success. Also the more gold withers has on him, the harder it becomes to pickpocket it back.
Withers really don't care of anything
...Already try the "Attack" option when he pops out the grave ?
Omg I had no idea you could dip weapons in the spider eggs! I've played this game for an unmentionable number of hours. It's truly incredible how expansive and detailed the game is, you endlessly discover new things about it 🤯 See you in the swamp on the next one - for real this time, I'm sure 😂
That was new to me too, and I've played over 1000 hours, a lot of it in Act 1 - so many tiny details!
@annelyle5474 I'm over 1000 hours too! 😲👋
You always manage to leave wanting to see more of your baldur adventures! That first fight with the spiders was too good, the time you spent positioning yourself really paid off. I can't wait to see you fighting the big one hehe
@@Manu-Jcé It might be a while till I take on mummy spider
I really enjoy watching you play this masterpiece ;)
A few helpful things I wish I knew sooner, without any spoilers:
- "Shift+C" = everyone goes into Stealth Mode (pressing it again deactivates it)
- "G "= unchain everyone
- If the camera goes away just double click on the character's portrait and it will go back to them
- SNEAK ATTACK and pickpocketing is much easier if you go into "Turn base mode"- same goes for deativating risky traps. Use it by pressing the big blue button on the right when out of battle. It basically stops time and waits for you to do something (jut like in battle) but if you're in Stealth Mode and the enemy hasn't seen you yet you can sneak up to them without worrying that they're gonna turn around (for example at the spiders). VERY useful for setting up fights, positioning the party and surprising the enemy. If you run out of movement speed before getting behind the target just go through all your companions turn, at the "Environment" ' s turn nothing will happen as long as there are no actively hostile creatures (red dot) who have noticed you.
- KARMIC DICE off or not: turning it off will basically function as a real life die, you roll what you roll, no computer to help lessen the chance of failure streaks. You will have a slightly higher chance to roll bad ones in a row (all rolls, in battle too) BUT the same goes for the enemies as well. But TBH this is your first playthrough, don't worry about this, save and reload if you don't like how things turned out as much as you want. The point is to enjoy the game and steer the story/characters how YOU want to.
- ITEMS - don't throw away or sell orange colored items (ex Necromancy of Thay book), they usually have a purpose later or connect to a quest (that stupid Goblin drawing is an exception lol)
- INVENTORY - holding down the shift then clicking you can select multiple items to send to camp or anywhere (drop it etc)
- CLEANING - if you find soap bar or sponge tray, you can use them infinite times and they will clean off the dirt and blood (I kept one for each party member then got tired of always stopping to clean everyone so ended up downloading a mod lol)
- GLOWING SYMBOL of Authority - whenever this comes up in dialogue options the [ILLITHID] option will offer a much lower difficulty of persuasion/deception roll (usually lower it to a 2 or a 5). Can use it once per Long Rest. Comes up when you are trying to convince or deceive someone who has a tadpole/is a follower of the Absolute
- USELESS ITEMS - regular skulls, bones, rope, buckets, cutlery has little of value (unless the cutlery is silver) and takes up space=adds unnecessary weight, so I wouldn't bother hoarding them, you'll have enough money don't worry. ALSO! If you know you want to sell something later mark it as "Ware" with the "Add to Wares" (right click ), this way you can sell all items at once without having to click on the them individually ("Sell Wares" button at merchants)
- LEVERS and BUTTONS - any button or lever that you can't reach or don't want to get caught touching can be activated by shooting an arrow at
- SHOVING enemies off high places is VERY useful, sometimes insta kills them if it's high enough - be careful though, if it's a chasm or some place you can't go yourself you lose the loot that was on their body
Good luck
Astarion's story is the best one I think.
I genuinely have been enjoying watching your gameplay. it's so fun to see people play bg3 for the first time and get first thoughts and reactions to everything!!
I really love that you spend the time reading through books and all the little knickknacks, you interact and actually explore areas and I've even seen interactions i've missed in my own gameplays :0
also just love your humor and delivery, its rare i literally laugh out loud watching videos but yours are sooo entertaining and hilarious.
i love your content i hope you enjoy the rest of bg3 i will be here to watch all the way (and any other games you may choose to play! :D)
When Astarion bit me, I allowed myself to fully trust him.
He ended up killing me and one of my companions had to pay Withers to revive me.
I did this too the first time and the next day scene was hilarious 😂
@@Nyxakeyin I would almost suggest Joe to backtrack so he can get killed by Astarion.
the callousness of Astarion is hilarious.
Same but I was playing Durge. My Durge had a longing for the sweet release of death, let the injured mindflayer gnaw on her brains too. Every chance I got was just like, I'm deplorable, let's die ok. Also by that point I felt it would be hypocritical to be angry about someone having an uncontrollable urge and killing someone accidentally. Seemed reasonable to romance her murderer on that run 😂.
At least it's not an auto game over . . .
@@vincent4805some choices would be/are worth it. Just not in honor run.
You missed a bit of dialogue with Karlach when Bae'zel picked up the infernal metal since she was miles away. Karlach said it could fix her engine, but she would need to find a blacksmith.
Take your time exploring, that's what we're here for! Always look forward to your playthroughs!
You should be using Astarion's bonus action Dash and Hide stuff. if he succeeds hiding then he gets sneak attack on the next turn.
I've played this game so many times, and yet I love watching you experience it for the first time. You can sell extra weapons and random books you've read before. Vendors update their stock when you level, and I think also when you do a long rest. So you can look for a hand crossbow. 2 vendors in the Grove.
54:07 I too appreciate a good game book ^^ I like your voice for reading a lot
Have to be in the hospital right now. Thank you for bringing some light to a gloomy day 😁 BYW, I love that you're getting to know people and not judging before you find out their backstory. Hate when people ignore a companion just because they're closed off or harsh at first. So much to discover ❤
@@KelstoneKat Hope you’re ok 💚
@greenmanjoe1 They're fixing me up 👍 Thank you. 😁
Another great video! It’s fun watching you work out your own strategies as you learn the game. Glad that you let Astarion bite you, and escaped him killing you (though the dialogue if you do that and revive with Withers is hilarious and you get to punch him in the face 🤣)
He won’t bite you anymore because you said no! But if you have him bite each companion there’s also fun banter. The Lvl 2 spell Lesser Restoration will clear Bloodless but keep his Happy buff!
Also yeah Karlach is so satisfying to play in battle, especially at earlier levels when the others are weaker. Her hits just have that meaty feeling lol
Title says "Astarion is Thirsty".
My immediate reaction: So basically nothing new?
D&D rule #1: Never split the party.
D&D rule #2: Rules are meant to be broken.
I was waiting for this hehe!!! It’s SO MUCH fun to see someone play bg3 for the first time, honestly my favourite game ever ? I wrote an entire essay for uni on why it’s so good!! 🙏 dont stress and take your time, I love your playstyle sm!! Wouldnt mind longer episodes tho ;) happy new year and keep up the good work!!!
I'm not trying to backseat game here but, multiclassing is something you should save for a later time when you're more comfortable with the systems and mechanics. You can get some really overpowered combinations, but it's incredibly easy to mess it up and be at a HUUUUUGE disadvantage. Stick to one class is my advice.
This is what I use my Hireling for that you can buy from Withers. They'll be at the same level as your other party members, so you can buy them to see what the other classes can offer, and with them you can mix and match over and over again to see things mix and match.
Hey Joe, happy new year! Been watching since you started your Baldur's Gate 3 series, but this is my first comment. Yours is the only channel where I literally check every day to see if there's a new episode. I love watching you experience the magic for the first time, as I've been playing almost nonstop since August, and each playthrough I try to recapture a bit of that early excitement. So happy to see you enjoying every second!
If you want another hand crossbow, talk to withers about hirelings and get a bard, take their crossbow, and then dismiss them. Otherwise some merchants like Dammon in the grove might start carrying them after a long rest
27:58 lol I always feel like there's a spider near me after going through that cave too 😂
43:44 and that's why he won so many awards for his voice acting. It's so insanely good and somehow even better later in the game
I don't know if you know this yet, but when you get magical items with words that are bold/highlighted, you can press T to hover over those words to get a better understanding of what it does. Like at 18:34 when you're looking at that ring. By pressing T you can hover over the word Momentum to see what it means gameplay wise.
@@jenaw5527 I did do that for the ring I think I just cut it out 🥴
@@greenmanjoe1 My bad! At least you're using it then. No need to keep it in if you don't want to lol
Oh, and there is an amulet in the druid grove what can heal you from bloodlessness, it´s called Amulet of Silvanus and lies somewhere there under a rock.
Thank you. ❤
I always let Astarion bite me at night 😂. There are ways to clear bloodless after a bite before you go about your day.
I love how chill the ogres are once you convince them not to eat you 😂 “we have a deal my tasty kibble”
Savage attacker rolls each "damage dice" (not "to hit" dice), which means: your damage will lean towards the higher end of the damage curve, it benefits greatswords since it rolls two D6 for damage which increase consistency and any damage "riders"; all the little "add 1d4 fire damage to your melee attacks" that are littered all over equipment and certain class features and attacks. This feat benefits Paladins in particular- their smite attacks adds many dice of radiant damage- especially when you upcast them.
Ooo~ the Speedy Lightfeet~ I predict he will dash, generate lightning charges, run into a puddle, and get electrocuted--- lightning charges does not give the character lightning immunity.
If you happen to feed Astarion and end up bloodless, then a cleric or a druid in your party who might happen to have Lesser Restoration as one of their spells, just might be able to help you............
Really enjoying this series! Your running commentary on Astarion's reveal and its fallout were priceless lol. Many have said it before, but it's fun watching someone experience this incredible game for the first time. I'm jealous!! Anyway, if I may, a few quality of life tidbits for you; things that I wish someone had told me early on since the game doesn't do the best job of spelling things out for you. I know it's a lot, and obviously feel free to ignore them all if you want, up to you.
TAB - I'm glad you found this today! Being able to see and interact with all of your party characters at once is super helpful. So much easier to manage gear and compare stats, etc. No more right clicking an item and sending somewhere, just drag and drop. On that note, you might also want to use Shift and Ctrl when interacting with your inventory. Shift+click lets you select a series of items and Ctrl+click lets you select multiple individual items. Once highlighted, you can right click and send them all to camp or another character, or simply drag and drop them. Super handy. (speaking of, no need to keep all the random gray junk items around, you can just sell most of it unless it has a unique description of some kind)
[BRACKETED] Text - If you hover your mouse pointer over the bracketed word (e.g. - [BARD]), it shows you what bonuses (or negatives) you have on that conversation option. This allows you to make more educated choices. You may still opt to use less good/bonused options for RP purposes, but at least you'll do it knowingly! I didn't notice this for AGES and it is literally game changing. You may know this and sometimes just cut it out of the vids, but thought I'd throw it out there because it's super helpful and important.
Dual Wield Toggle - Under your weapon icon near Joey's character's portrait at the bottom of the screen is the dual-wield toggle. I would highly recommend toggling it off because, as it is now, it will automatically use your main-hand attack (action) and off-hand attack (bonus action) every time you attack. So, if you wanted to attack and heal on your turn for instance, you wouldn't be able to because your attack has already consumed both actions. As you progress, combat on tactician difficulty is going to get a lot more involved, so having the ability to choose when and how to use your actions is super helpful.
Weapon/stat Basics - Finesse weapons use DEX for attacking/dmg UNLESS your strength is higher. Ranged weapons use dexterity. All other weapons for the most part use STR. Not 100%, but broadly true. Exceptions to all rules, and all that. This is why Laezel and Karlach have lower % to hit on ranged vs melee, their DEX is lower than their STR. STR also dictates JUMP distance, which the game doesn't really tell you. Characters will mostly get by with 10+, but chars with 8 STR will sometimes struggle with even the tiniest jumps, as you've already experienced; at least now you know why lol.
Ability Score Improvement - The most straight forward feat, and kind of inherently boring, but improving your abilities affects everything your character does related to that stat. For instance, adding +2 to dexterity improves to-hit % on finesse and ranged weapon attacks, dex saving throws, armor class, finesse/ranged damage, etc. I'm not saying don't take any others, far from it, there are many super fun options, just something to keep in mind as the enemies get more difficult.
If you've made it this far, congrats, time for a nap to process it all! LMK when you're ready to digest round 2!! Haha. Good luck out there!
I fucking love this playthrough. Thank you for bringing us along on your journey 😊
Looking forward to making it to the swamp…one day 😆🤣 hehehehe
Since you've looked into multiclassing, here goes a few tips if you don't mind:
- Let your warrior characters such as Karlach and Laezel get to at least level 5 before multiclassing, since they become able to attack twice per action at that level. I'd recommend keeping Laezel as a full fighter, but Karlach would sinnergize well as a Thief Rogue or by getting a couple levels into Fighter as well.
- Astarion can do well as a full rogue, but Ranger (Gloomstalker subclass) is great for him. You can multiclass at any level, won't makea hude difference. Astarion is the only one who can Dash as a Bonus Action, by the wway because he's a rogue. And double hand crossbows are excellent for his build because of his double Bonus Action.
- For your main character, let him get to level 6 at the very least, because he can also get Extra Attack as a Swords Bard. But then a couple levels into Paladin would do him great. As a Paladin, you could use your Spell Slots when attacking to do much greater damage with each hit.
- On levels 4, 8 and 12 (also 6 for Fighters) you gain a new Feat. You can get abilities like the ones you chose for your characters, which are great by the way, nice picks, or choose Ability Score Increase to gain +2 popints to spread in your stats. Like Increased Strength for Karlach and Lazel, Increased Dex for Astarion and so on. Although your choices were great, I'd highly recommend picking Tavern Brawler OR Great Weapon Master for Karlach, depending on your choice of playstyle (Throwing stuff or attacking with Two Handed Weapons)
Finally, as a Bard, you get an extra Short Rest for your group through the ability Song of Rest. Just clock this skill and it works as a shor rest. Keep it up! o7
I like to keep a 2h hammer in Lae or Karlach's bags to equip in case of skeletons, cracked walls, or anything else that needs bludgeoning damage! If you come across a green one I'd just save it instead of vendoring, could come in handy if you don't have a wizard/warlock around all the time.
Barcus Wroot is one of my favourite NPC's in good playthroughs. In evil playthroughs... ok, let's not talk about those, and let's not even think about that "release brake" switch ;-)
Vicious Mockery is a great cantrip, by the way- fairly useful, but, more importantly, the voice lines for that spell are just delicious! (and each of the companions have their own unique set of Vicious Mockery lines!)
Oh, and as for Astarion: I like using the Blighted Village as a feeding ground for him: just separate the party, put everybody in a safe place, then let Astarion nibble on a goblin and quickly run away and hide. And presto, happy Astarion with a +1 bonus to just about everything for that day, he is pretty awesome!
In combat, do try to have him attack targets that are already threatened by another party member, that way he can get more sneak attacks in, which is a really important source of damage. (targets affected by certain effects, like Guiding Bolt, Distracting Stride, or Duplicity can be sneak attacked as well)
One thing that the game does not mention about Lump's warhorn is that it only works in Act 1, so don't be too shy about using it. Oh, and that dead tiefling woman in the house where you found the ogres, that's (supposedly) the mother of Meli, one of the tiefling children in the Emerald enclave. There is no dialogue for it though, it's not part of a quest, nor is it possible to return her locket to Meli. The only reason why we know is a family resemblance, plus her locket looks identical to the locket Meli steals from Barth (not sure if that happened in your game)
That Phase Spider fight can be super hard the first time. You’ll be able to kick its butt once you hit level 5. That’s when you get your first big power up.
I trust Joey to find a way to win battles even if underlevelled. I'm sure you could've won every battle you've retreated from if you tried a bit more ;) have faith, you're doing great. also maybe study the environment more. when you got killed in the spider's lair, it's because you took a lot of damage from falling and were prone. you fell because the cloud of daggers(i think) touched and destroyed the web your were standing on. use that to your advantage :D
If the camera ever gets annoying like it did with the spiders, you can always double click a character portrait to recenter the camera on that character. This also helps with camera height
Astarion is wearing armor (light armor, only 11 AC); at the moment the bracer on him arent doing anything
Yep, Gale or Karlach are the only ones who would benefit from it right now.
So hype to see you choosing vicious mockery now, it’s considered one of the better spells in dnd by a lot of people, namely cause its ability is criminally underrated, disadvantage on an attack can be life saving plus the damage scaled up, and it’s a cantrip so it can be used as much ad you like. Otherwise eldritch blast (wylls special spell) is one of the best if not the best spell in dnd(you can min-max it to insane levels)
Also I’d so suggest checking ability score improvement on the feats, it lets you increase your charisma, strength or anything there. It’s good to mainly go for them unless you have a specific plan in mind for your build.
Happy new year to you too. Astarion will not benefit from the bracers while wearing the armor he has, but they are good for Barbarians fyi because they dont want to have armor for the rage thing.
One of the best parts about playing a swords bard is using inspiration for the flourish moves. Slashing flourish with a ranged weapon gives you two shots for the price of one. Mobile flourish is great for fixing positioning in combat. You haven’t experimented with these much. Inspiration charges refill on a short rest. Definitely play around with them
Getting feats at level 4 is a big power spike, and level 5 also gives you another power spike (level 3 spells for casters, extra attack for most weapon users).
The list of feats can be overwhelming but there are several commonly used ones. Ability score improvement for your primary attack/casting stat (remember you only get bonus every even number) is the basic default one if nothing else appeals. Alert lets you almost always go first in combat. Great weapon master good for someone like Karlach in your party. Sharpshooter for dedicated archer builds. Savage attacker is ok if you are already hitting reliably, and use multiple damage dice in weapon attacks. Tavern brawler for dedicated unarmed attackers or throwing weapon users. Warcaster if your concentration casters keep on losing concentration.
In the first playthrough i did, I released wrong lever and poor Barcus went flying and dying. Love your playthrough and content of Bg3.
Finally every one of them start showing their true color. No worries, a band of misfit is what you need to survive the odds.
Since you like to read a book, it is better to have gale in your team whenever you read a book for inspiration.
A little treasure hunt if you like... In emerald grove, there's a bear near river. Something useful hidden near it.
Well done. You're getting very good at combat.
Finding the tab function was so helpful! Didn't take me to get to act 3 at all 😅
You can even be the other party companions while in the tab view, which makes it easier to see who would benefit from cool new armor or weapons the most. Or on wom it looks coolest. Who needs stats anyway.
oh yes, astarion is definitely not the most likeable character, but for sure very very intriguing
niceee! i'm happy Astarion's story is moving forward a lil bit hehe
thanks for letting him bite you... it means a lot
Very happy new year, and I hope you're feeling better!
im on my 3rd playthrough and never managed to find a use for the "dip weapon" function and yet you already have. this game is wonderful
The barbarian ability you were asking is for a different subclass of barbarian, you have the berserker and I think the one you asked about is the Wild Heart one. I still think the berserker is way more accurate for karlach tho.
I am loving your gameplay so much! You make my days everytime you upload keep at it please!!!! ♥
The speedy lightfeet are boots, they can be worn alongside the gauntlets
Happy new year! Loving this series, my favorite game. One suggestion! Consider increasing your party’s ability scores early with feats. Every 2 points in a stat increases success chance with attacks, skills etc. very well rounded pick! Bard for example, if you’re using spells a lot you’ll need more Charisma, if you want to focus on combat you’d want more Dexterity for your rapier/crossbow attacks. Happy gaming! :)
everyone gets a feat at level 4. :D
"Oh, there had to be bloody spiders down here, didn't there?" - LOL - yep! Loving your reactions. I keep biting my lips to keep from giving any advice that might end up a spoiler; but you seem to be working out problem priorities well on your own. Good luck with Ethyl - yeeks! I'm so glad you're enjoying the game. :D
You rizzing up everyone lol-
Im also working on my first play through. I just got to act 3.
Its been really fun watching along, thanks for uploading all of this.
Happy new year also!
um not to be insane...but i always let astarion kill me during the biting scene LMAO...... The morning after conversation is so worth it
Happy new year! You can refocus your camera by double-clicking on your avatars picture :)
You can also set the camera into tactical mode by pressing O.
i don't know if anyone told you this but you can pickpocket withers if you get low on gold he has all the gold you give him for respecs or hirelings and he won't react at all lol
After each long rest, buy the 3 hill giant potions from Auntie Ethel, you can stock up on them and they are very useful. By the end of act 1, and leaving Ethel til last, i had over 20 in stock.
Would give bracers to Karlach, she is the one without any armor. And boots to Astarion, since he is the one dashing. Also as long as one ally is near an enemy, Astarion can make a sneak attack with a bow.
As for feats, then I would look at Great Weapon Master, at least for Karlach. If you use Reckless Rage on her, you have advantage on all attacks and mitigate the -5 penalty to hit, but +10 damage is huge, and getting a bonus action attack when you kill an enemy is amazing.
Regarding the spiders, if you do not want to fight them, simply split off from party, go into turn mode and cast invisibility, you should probably have a scroll somewhere with it. Then you can grab the gem and run away again.
Astarion would need a second class (Ranger or Fighter) to use the boots. Speedy Lightfoots are no light armour.
I know i'm probably late with it, and you've already played through the next episode, but in the hopes you haven't done it yet, here's hoping you think to use the ogre war horn when facing the spider matriarch. Pits two challenging opponents against each other, letting you ideally loot both in the end, or at the very least lowering the challenge as the ogres soak significant damage that would be coming your way otherwise
Happy New Year Joeee 🎉
Personally i don't mind when you say you are going to do something but end doing something else, BG3 is huge so don't worry and keep having fun 😊
Happy new year Joe, here's to an amazing year of BG 3 :)
just waiting for that day you finally decide to flex that brainworm on those goblins or anyone else
If you ever have camera problems or want to quickly switch to another character, you can double click their portrait, and that'll change the focus to them.
Another fun video now time to play catch up
You're high enough level to take the Spider Matriarch or most of the other battles you've decided to "save for later". However, as the difficulty you are on implies, they will require some efficient Tactical movesee🎉
Just one thing about how the game works; have a look into what the primary stat is for your class. Bards, for example, use charisma for their spells, while wizards use their intelligence. You can increase those stats if you want, theres a feat for it
Damn I was sad when he hit the "correct" lever
so you can talk to the 3 ogre well i atacked them and it wasnt a fun fight :p
Woot woot! What a great way to start the new year! 2025 is looking bright!
Challenge: 10 pushups every time you are forced to a point where you save scum.
@@FallstarFL 10 pushups in a row are you insane??
I hope you had a good new year's eve.
Why do you need a spell if you can lock-pick? Why do you need a lock-pick if you can just smash the door down? But you're correct, not a good spell. I'm really enjoying your videos, thanks for uploading them.
To be fair, the spell can be useful, particularly as an Abjuration WIzard, though that's a bit more complicated than I'd worry about as a first time player.
Yes! First to view and comment! Keep it coming and the feature lengths parts are great!
IMO you shouldn't multiclass if you are not familiar with D&D class progression, since it can make your build a lot worse than just sticking with one class. Not to say there isn't any viable multiclass builds but they need a lot of meta knowledge about the classes.
Soul coins seem to be a remnant of possibly cut content. There's a lot of talk of their inorganic but they are generally just sold for gold.
Or maybe see if Karlach has a use for them.
Joey the Bard has collected quite a group of addicted people, don't you think? One is addicted to the weave in magic items, the other is addicted to blood... Lets see, what is coming next.
