Makers Making Fiction A Reality | James Hobson | TEDxKC

- Have you ever seen something in a movie, comic book or game and wondered if it was possible in real life? James Hobson (The Hacksmith) has made a full-time job out of making fictions a reality.
James Hobson quit his full-time job as a mechanical engineer to pursue his passion as an inventor. With the hope to inspire others to do the same, James documents his innovative creations on his TH-cam channel, the Hacksmith. Whether making adjustments to his home-made exoskeletons or creating functional prototypes inspired by fictional ideas in comic books, movies and video games; James is a mashup of MacGyver ingenuity and playful Mythbuster engineering rigor.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

You can clearly see hes nervous, poor Hacksmith

"...If so, are you an elderly scientist?" *smirks*

james hobson is a role model of mine ive watch many of his videos.... before i saw any of his videos i had ideas and dreams of building things that hes currently attemping
I like how nervous he is, he's a human being after all
James i really appreciate it man, youre inspiring speech and magical sentences and creative ideas are really mind opening and so inspiring that i want to leave everything alone and start innovating , although i know how hard it is to become an engineer.
This (as your awesome channel) demands more attention.
Why does this only have 300 views
ted ed produces so many videos that its hard to see even a fraction of them
Dude now its 3.7 million.

The pun reaction was somewhat disappointing. Respectful, but disappointing.
I thought his pun was hilarious.
(tried and failed to come up with a good Star Trek pun for that. :/ )

Heya
the Hacksmith OMG this is the first time I have had a reply from the star himself 😁😁😁😬😬
Star Walkthroughs Surprisingly, even though he has over 800k subs he responds a lot. It must be a full time job just commenting lol.
