As another commenter noted, I appreciated that you shared your unhauling process. You briefly mentioned the conversations you've been having around what to do with the stuff we accumulate. I've reached a point in my life where I only want to keep memories - photos, videos, notes, etc. I've had the responsibility of going through the things left by loved ones. I'm hoping to make that task as easy and guiltless as possible for our children when the time comes. Audio and ebooks are my go-tos now.
I have had Come Sundown on my Kindle for a long time, so I'm happy to hear it's hooked you in lol. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Laurie 🥧🦃
This is a great video, Laurie, and a great way to decide if those "on-my-shelves-for-years" books need to stay or go. It's funny to see a Nora Roberts book and two James Patterson books making an appearance. Whenever I go to a LFL, no matter the neighborhood, I see tons of their books all the time. I read some Nora Roberts books when I was a much younger woman, but none since. Still, as you said, I know that many people like these two authors very much. Unrelated, I really like the pillow on your dark green couch/chair.
I am not familiar with most of those though have heard A Tale for the Time Being is good. I think you made good choices. I think I may need to do this too, Laurie. Some of mine have been sitting there too long. Pango is pretty easy. You just print the lark and slap it on a bubble mailer, put it in the mailbox. I found the app pretty easy to navigate.
I could never help anyone unhaul books. I can't even help myself unhaul books. In fact, I'm about to leave my house to drive minimum 45 minutes to my nearest Barnes & Noble to spend $50 worth of gift cards. There should be a support group. 🤭🤭🤭 Thanks for the content! Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
I did Pango for awhile, but then I got sick and couldn't take the books to the post office. Pango is great giving you the prepaid info to print out, put on your package and put in a blue mailbox which is usually outside of the post office, but the downfall is you have to get it out to the buyer in 3 days. You buy the packaging, so you don't really get much, may be enough to get another book for yourself. If your not up to it to go to the post office, you cannot delay because you want to get the book out to your buyer, otherwise you have to tell the buyer it will be late. Buyers give you reviews, so you don't want that star rating to go down. So you have to ask yourself is it worth it? You buy the packaging to put your books to your buyer. now for me, I added a note and a bookmark thanking them. I bought that extra. When I opened my shop, I received a lot of orders, then it ends, then occasionally someone will buy a book. Just wanted to let you know more of what happens, before you commit to it. You can try and if not satisfy you can cancel anytime.
I like the JD Robb books more than Nora books, but I haven’t read a lot of either. She is certainly prolific. I’m not into Patterson either. I did read two of his non fiction books within the last few years, but like you, if there’s one I want to read I will, but he’s not an author I gravitate to.
In the 90’s, I was a big fan of Patterson. His early books were good. Haven’t read one now in many years. The Ruth Ozeki one was a pass for me also although I tried.
I love watching unhauls and try a chapter videos. Fun to listen to the thinking through and the talking through process. 😊
Unhauls always intruige me!! Love to hear your thought process. I am not a James Patterson fan, so I co-sign letting his books go. 😊

I cannot do Patterson either. My wife (and stepdad) loves him.
