What was the depth of the threads for the long bolts and was the thread tap the m11x2.0? Or was it larger for the time sert

Did this hold for the m8 bolts? Any issues making hole bigger? What tap was needed?

Did you use the 16.2mm insert specified for the upper head bolts or the 11.7mm insert that comes with the kit? I am looking to use the 1812core kit to do the same repair as you did.

The most common reason they strip is the holes arent cleaned of liquid. cant compress a liquid so it pulls the threads. im only here because im doing a engine still in. Dude paid a guy $500 to do a cam lol

Great point ! I found lots of dirty oil in the bottom of my head bolt holes in my m113 block after I tore it down . Didn’t think twice about it . later on I discovered that the dirtiest holes were the most stripped ones , how dose that happen from the factory if they are supposed to be assembled in a clean environment., now I’m so traumatized the next time I pull a set of heads off a block first thing I’m checking is if the the head bolts are stripped . Time-Sert kit was $645 after taxes on eBay but I also got 20extra inserts for $85 because I was going to sell the complete used kit on eBay for $500 or so .

Will a time sert work on a cast iron block vortex?

I repaired 3 of the head bolt holes to perfection. On the fourth the insert didnt go all the way down and i didnt realize it until i checked it after i extracted the driver. Now im stuck. For some reason the insert is now stuck and im trying to extract it with a screw extractor as it says on their website, but thats all bs it doesnt work.

Hey mate, did these hold up once you got the engine started? I’ve had the same issue. Pulled the heads for some maintenance and now have an unusable engine..
