As late as I am I just wanna point out that if they checked the minimap around 10:10, Joe DOES have an observer in red's main base. He spots red's expansion (he follows the CC with the obs. to see where it lands) at 11:00 and checks the nearby xel'naga tower and sees red's "barracks" army. More than one wouldn't hurt, but he knew some things :P
This episode may not be humorous, but I feel that it's definitely taken the WCF series back to basics a la season 1 episode 1. It's refreshing to see some 'regular' failed cheese again and listen to some serious commentary on how to improve one's SC2 gameplay. Well done guys.
Looking forward to the finale and what you have in store for next season. Nice to see a break from the usual hilarious commentary to go back to basics too, it's a nice occasional change of pace.
@litcandle123 OMG lol we put that up on the screen when we edit. We have a overlay for this lol We look them up on the net, then place it there so you can see what league they are in. Blizzard doesn't support this feature Jeff
Thank you guys so much for this video. This seemed like less of a "let's make cheap jokes and try to be funny" and more of a "if you're put into this situation, here's what you need to do to take the lead." Great video, looking forward to the season finale.
Great cast according to entertainment :) As some dude said, the technical analysis was a bit off, but we are here to have fun, and I sure did - thanks for another great season!
Big thanks to all the donations over the past couple days, We bought a new HD video Camera Canon Vixia HF200 and also buying a new soundcard tomorrow, Thank you so much guys. Can't wait to use all this great gear to give you guys more content and in HIGH DEFF!!!!!!!! BOUSE Jeff
Thats actually a really nice game. I like it when replays take a little bit longer. Nothing sucks more than short replays. Except if something really awesome happens. Like the Minute man!
@SchnitzelCat I know of two definitions of what makes something a "cheese", and this play here meets both. The first definition is that it is an all-in. By that I mean, if it doesn't work, you're almost guaranteed to lose the game. Once the terran cheese failed, the protoss was so far ahead economically that there was almost no way for the terran to come back. The other definition is that it only works if you don't scout it. Had the protoss caught it earlier, it never would have happened.
@SeismicPulse Basically when your units are up against other (preferably melee) units, and you control your units so that they attack, then run back, then attack, then run back in order to receive minimal hits from their units while dealing damage on the enemy units.
An actually interesting game with cheese! Best one for some time now I think and with some nice advices. Some notes: you don't have to argue so hard about what is cheese and what is not; you may want to say at the begining of the cast, that the league medal will be in the top right corner, else you will always get people complaining you don't check it.
@janzaproductions that overlay isnt in the replays. Jeff and Adam put it in to let us know which league. they obviously cast this before they knew, and THEN put the overlay on
@7:45 A building destroyed with a unit or upgrade building it's refunded if the building is destroyed. Also @9:40 Warping zealots on the front line is smart, as long as your other units are attacking. They don't take extra damage so it allows zealots to forgo the closing distance also meat shielding for your stalkers. Not hating just helping.
@xCollisionGaming You know that they put that there themselves in editing? I'm always amazed at the number of people who DON'T seem to know this. Although, I do think it's kind of cool that even people who clearly don't own Starcraft 2 can still watch and enjoy these casts.
@Buggy132kX Its actually a very rudimentary part of SC2 to learn build orders. When you reach the higher ranks, its the small altercations that can swing the game in your/your opponents favor. You should definitely have some idea of a build order, and once you feel comfortable deviating from it, go for it.
Its funny when people say "the league is up in the top right corner." Its reminiscent of when people where commenting on unprocessed videos saying "why is the quality do bad?"
i LOVE these guys for not giving a fuck what league is played,it only matters if a game is cool and fun to watch. I like HD and husky but they don t cast lower lvl games,u say to that say to that, fuck off, if its fun cast that shit.keep the fun times rolling
@mattkunq They can't see that when they're recording. They don't know what league the game is before they watch it, but after they watch it they look it up and put it in the top right.
@CoqPwner They put that there themselves in editing. Are you suggesting they can see into the future and see the completed video? If so, that would be pretty awesome.
The thing is, you don't have to be a great StarCraft player yourself to give good advice in the game. The most important thing in this game is quick thinking, reflexes and multitasking, and then yes, having some clue as to what is actually going on in terms of numbers, counters etc. So if you have that, you can give great advice, but you're not necessarily a good player, because if your multitasking is shit, or your reflexes are shit, you won't be doing so great in an actual game.
@WTFhappenedWITHyou thx man :) i was quite satisfied with my play I think i gotta tell this every single one now^^ since it annoys me that my first casted game on youtube has a wrong league tag... I play diamond and so does Aron
For people who don't know (and they wont know coz they are clueless) When they get the replay, they dont know what league the person is until they search them and what not, Meaning that league symbol you see on this vid, they cant see it.. They put that there themselves. :D
It happened to me today. Lost a TvP in Gold where my opponent literally just spammed DT's all game until he had enough Zealots to win the game. He was banking 4000 mins and 2500 gas at the end. I wanted to punch my laptop screen >.>
@CoqPwner That would be a really cool feature for the game to have though. I guess Blizzard feels that you're going to mainly be watching your own replays, and you know what league you are (hopefully).
PS DT rushes do technically count as cheese. Check Liquipedia for the definition: Cheese most often refers to an unexpected strategy that relies in large parts on lack of information and/or psychological impact on the opponent. Cheese build orders typically revolve around an early attack that, if undetected, is more difficult to defend than execute. DT's def fall into that category, as do Banshees, 6pools, etc. So not sure why you said "thats no cheese by any means"
@ssllyy those guys edit that in when they decide to edit after they record everything. It just helps us the viewers understand what league the players in the video are.
@arngorf thank you^^ I didn't think i did too bad of a job either :) and I agree i really like LAGT because they are hilarious but in terms of games analysis you can see that they are not high level players (I play high diamond but I don't consider me as a high level player at all) anyway @LAGTV thx for casting my game :) and it's actually not platin but diamond ;)
@StainedShuriken333 but we can agree. It would be awesome if there was a way to see what league it is when playing a replay. Because i'm tired of always searching when i watched a good replay lol
@TheMoocow2009 Yeah I just totally thought this league banner was just in normals replays, not that LAGTV added them themselves! I actually opened up my SC2 just t check it out =P My bad!
@Buggy132kX exactly what skope111 said, the basic skills that will probably carry you into Gold if not at least Silver will be an emphasis on good macro (spending, expanding, building, generally keeping money low), scouting all the time (knowing where the enemy army is, where it is going, possible angles to attack, what the enemy tech is, composition etc.) If you don't/haven't played sc:bw, you should train macro/micro on that. mechanics are much harder on sc:bw.
Jeff you should notice that, "BOUSE" in french means literally "cow shit" wich sounds... Disturbing, because I'm French. Anyways You guys ROCK. Greetings !
@Tatlreach no seriously are you joking.... have you ever watched a sc2 cast THEY PUT THAT THERE THAT IS NOT IN THE UI do you not sift through your own replays either?
As late as I am I just wanna point out that if they checked the minimap around 10:10, Joe DOES have an observer in red's main base. "My mom's white 'n she raised me proper" "With doozie" "Feh-shaw" I can't breathe xD Omg you guys are awesome.
duzi means huge in polish :3
Every time you two yell "The season of great escapes!!!" I yell it as well. It makes me feel special. Love the series!
This episode may not be humorous, but I feel that it's definitely taken the WCF series back to basics a la season 1 episode 1. It's refreshing to see some 'regular' failed cheese again and listen to some serious commentary on how to improve one's SC2 gameplay. Well done guys.
LAGTV . The only place where you learn alot, you're not at school, and its fun as all living hell
Looking forward to the finale and what you have in store for next season. Nice to see a break from the usual hilarious commentary to go back to basics too, it's a nice occasional change of pace.
You guys are awesome! I'm glad I found your videos a while back. They've provided hours of entertainment.
@litcandle123
OMG lol we put that up on the screen when we edit. We have a overlay for this lol We look them up on the net, then place it there so you can see what league they are in. Blizzard doesn't support this feature

Like the Minute man!
You guys are sick...in a good way ;)
Also big credits to you for gaming hints. I learned and laughed my ass off.
Keep up the good work :)
@Dentoid89 it edited into the video. That symbol isnt there when playing a replay
The greatest weakness of the protoss is the plyon. Yet some people refuse to attack them first.
At first I thought, "Oh jeeze Joe's a protoss and probably going to cheese I feel ashamed to be called Joe." Now I'm glad that Joe won
A Cold Cast Marathon per season? :P
Nah, that might kill you guys. Great work so far!
You guys keep improving your casts. Keep it up!

Watching your live stream this weekend really brought me out of the pits so you definitely earned yer green.
actually one of the best cheesers yet. Not as fail as many
@JWStreeter dude, that is an ADDED OVERLAY AFTER THEY CASTED. So yeah, they don't know until after they casted AND looked it up.
Aron must've gone to diamond through this cheesing strat
An actually interesting game with cheese! Best one for some time now I think and with some nice advices.

Thank You So Much Jeff & Adam, or Adam & Jeff (which ever floats your boat) You keep me sane.
Hold on, gotta get more pizza, I laughed and it all fell on the floor.
@Tatlreach Its actually them that add it once they finished casting, blizzrad doesn't have this feature
@7:45 A building destroyed with a unit or upgrade building it's refunded if the building is destroyed.

@Nysguy2003 ...This is *when* cheese fails, released in May last year. Way before the *will* cheese fail series started.
It was awesome seeing this in the live stream :D
@lifesaglitchtv thanks to you i now know that when buildings blow up you lose the minerals of building units... i did not know that holy shit
Note to self: Don't lift off Barracks if they are getting attacked, "no big deal' - Jeff and Adam. Thanks for the advice.
Surprisingly decent play from both ends.
I live in alabama and thankfully my neighborhood was spared, just had power out for 5 days
Aron the Terran?
GG
I swear to God, NovaWar sounded like Rick Astley who sang "Never gonna give you up" when you get RickRolled!
love how terran depend too much on barrack units and get steam rolled by colossi
Oh my Gods! Terrans cheesing Protoss!? The world's gone topsy-turvy!
Imagine good stuff like this commin an hour drive from Truro, my hometown.
thanks to you i can procrastinate some more on my paper :D love u guys!
@xCollisionGaming You know that they put that there themselves in editing? I'm always amazed at the number of people who DON'T seem to know this. Although, I do think it's kind of cool that even people who clearly don't own Starcraft 2 can still watch and enjoy these casts.
You should be called TrollTV you guys are fucking epic love watching your stuff :P
Loving these, obviously.
@Buggy132kX Its actually a very rudimentary part of SC2 to learn build orders. When you reach the higher ranks, its the small altercations that can swing the game in your/your opponents favor. You should definitely have some idea of a build order, and once you feel comfortable deviating from it, go for it.
@Happypill13 Because they're pointing out what's wrong, how to make it work and how to counter it, so that players can be aware, and learn more.
this seris made me buy Sc2! thnx you guys i love it
BEST SOUND FX EVER!!!
@litcandle123 they actually put it in after the replay when they have researched it
Its funny when people say "the league is up in the top right corner." Its reminiscent of when people where commenting on unprocessed videos saying "why is the quality do bad?"
i LOVE these guys for not giving a fuck what league is played,it only matters if a game is cool and fun to watch.
I like HD and husky but they don t cast lower lvl games,u say to that say to that, fuck off, if its fun cast that shit.keep the fun times rolling
OK your lack of pluralization has never bothered me until Barrack a barrack isnt even a thing!! xD
Blue had a very good comeback.
@Lithilic Even with that fail, he's the best cheeser I've seen on this show.
can't wait for the next episode!
Jeff and Adam, you guys better be at PAX this September so i can give u guys a hug
The commentators missed that Joe DID send out an observer.
Reminds me of a PvP match I had where I had my relay from my gates set at my opponent's nat. and then I blocked him in with stalkers and cannons.
I'm hoping I can run into some amusing cheesers for the next season :D
@Clacknack latinum, it shows in the top right corner of the match.
@mattkunq They can't see that when they're recording. They don't know what league the game is before they watch it, but after they watch it they look it up and put it in the top right.
"I'd like to order some SC2...extra cheese please."
President Obama soon to announce the realese of Season 2, Episode 9 of "When Cheese Fails".
@CoqPwner They put that there themselves in editing. Are you suggesting they can see into the future and see the completed video? If so, that would be pretty awesome.
@lacrosseplayer29 They cost 100, but you can salvage them to get 100% of the minerals back (being changed to 75% in the next patch).
i always remember it being so funny that these two were giving advice considering how bad they were.
@JWStreeter Youre the Brain man, the overlay in the top right corner is put there by the CASTERS themself, not by blizzard ...
@WTFhappenedWITHyou
thx man :) i was quite satisfied with my play
I think i gotta tell this every single one now^^ since it annoys me that my first casted game on youtube has a wrong league tag... I play diamond and so does Aron
at 11:10 there was an Observer at the base coming back down 5 sec after u said "there should be 1 up there"
@2JoeStudios Ok, then sorry, and Gratz for the win, you played really good
Yes it was. Thanks for making sure I got it though. :)
For people who don't know (and they wont know coz they are clueless) When they get the replay, they dont know what league the person is until they search them and what not, Meaning that league symbol you see on this vid, they cant see it.. They put that there themselves. :D
great video, I like you guys' advice
@XDKang
Yes it was a nice little break lol
Dam are the graphics on Ultra. Never seen the blinding lights at the towers =(.
It happened to me today. Lost a TvP in Gold where my opponent literally just spammed DT's all game until he had enough Zealots to win the game. He was banking 4000 mins and 2500 gas at the end. I wanted to punch my laptop screen >.>
@lateralexrex I find myself looking in the corner when i watch other commentaries to see what level of gameplay it is XD
@MagStarcraft Yep. He did. As you can see at the end of the game we can't see the note .. left the game. That means the loser saved the replay.
he warped zealots at the front to soak up damage
@CoqPwner That would be a really cool feature for the game to have though. I guess Blizzard feels that you're going to mainly be watching your own replays, and you know what league you are (hopefully).
@42commonsense TH-cam has been fine for me, it may be your connection.
Is it only with TH-cam or with other sites as well?
@JWStreeter yup your right.... btw, before commenting check to see if 500 other people have already said what your saying.
PS DT rushes do technically count as cheese. Check Liquipedia for the definition:

If you're looking to learn something, "alot" isn't a word.
@ssllyy those guys edit that in when they decide to edit after they record everything. It just helps us the viewers understand what league the players in the video are.
@arngorf

@TheMoocow2009
Yeah I just totally thought this league banner was just in normals replays, not that LAGTV added them themselves! I actually opened up my SC2 just t check it out =P
My bad!
@MrTearshorn
yea, i still can't believe people haven't noticed that D:
@Buggy132kX exactly what skope111 said, the basic skills that will probably carry you into Gold if not at least Silver will be an emphasis on good macro (spending, expanding, building, generally keeping money low), scouting all the time (knowing where the enemy army is, where it is going, possible angles to attack, what the enemy tech is, composition etc.) If you don't/haven't played sc:bw, you should train macro/micro on that. mechanics are much harder on sc:bw.
Two more players in the series I've played with/against.
there is a thing in the top right that shows what level they are, at least i think thats what it is
Jeff you should notice that, "BOUSE" in french means literally "cow shit"
wich sounds... Disturbing, because I'm French.
Anyways You guys ROCK. Greetings !
JEFF AND ADAM, LOOK TO THE TOP RIGHT OF THE SCREEN!
it shows the ladder standing (bronze, silver, gold, ect)
Thumbs up so they know!
It Aint Easy Being Cheesy, make that season 3 name :D
@Tatlreach no seriously are you joking.... have you ever watched a sc2 cast THEY PUT THAT THERE THAT IS NOT IN THE UI do you not sift through your own replays either?
@dflynchimp Haha yes, but that's not in game, that's added later
@LifesAGlitchTV sour about that afterlife
