Older version of Ezreal could heal with W, Tf originally could use global TP with his E and ryze had 3 point and click spells with ult greatly boosting your damage and spell vamp. Good times =D
I remember the hype for hecarims release because he was revealed alongside Value so the community all thought we were gonna get 2 champs released at the same time... I remember hearing about the news while I was playing gears of war 3 at a gaming cafe 🥲 good times...
You're half right. Now, they either follow recommendation like bots without learning the game or look at weird play from pro players without understanding why that works
16:00 I like how he just says "That shit wasn't ready but we need to show you something so here is an icon of a different champ" like a SMALL INDIE COMPANY
Back when champions had personality, goofy and unique designs, funny interactions etc. I'm sick of edgy human champions, i want goofy monsters that don't take themselves seriously... Every champ rework they did, they ended up humanizing all the champs, making them more serious and getting rid of those champion's signature abilities... Old League had so much more personality, nowadays 99% of champions are perfect looking serious humans... Even the monsters in League resemble humans too much...
I was here since Sivir's richochet can be toggled and her attacks bounces in exchange causes her to drain mana per attack until you recast it like Singed's poison. Man, those were good times.
There was definitely a shift in design around like season 5 where they went more anime inspired and now they're just purely weeb, and every champion requires some convoluted kit to be considered "good."
It’s crazy to hear Phreak on all of these, and to know he’s still in the thick of it to this day. Even crazier to see people talking shit about his capabilities in his comment section.
Miss the old Fiddlesticks. In ARAM if there was someone low in the other team, you could E a minion and with some luck and stupidity from the enemy team it will bounce into the low mf, giving you an offscreen kill. It sent me into laughs every single time
The most hilarious thing was to E them while wave was not up and them running and flashing away from each other or flaming each other for not walking away
Ahhh those times when this game was actually enjoyable both in normals and ranks. People were dumb as a brick but at least everyone knew that without crying in face of little criticism. And champs omega broken on release but still unique instead of being copy and paste with few tweaks.
I can't describe the rage old Fiddle e used to bring me. You could legit lose half your hp if you got unlucky bounces and had it hit you 3 times, and because you were silenced you just had to take it.
Oh wow, this was actually after the Singed changes too. His old ultimate used to give him a flat bonus to every basic stat including AD and attack speed. You could pop it and push down a tower while being very difficult to kill, then just walk away.
@@saunorine Had a meme page with full crit runes and I'd rush a Stattik Shiv just to get the crit lightning on top, watching a third of their hp disappear was extremely funny.
It's so funny how some of these old champs would have been insane with the item rework Imagine urgot with good muramana AND proc'ing ravenous on his q's God i miss old league
I love how you can just tell how much less damage there was in the game before. Nowadays taking autos and maxed out spells even with no items just shreds your health.
They purposefully gave the target "dummies" a bunch of health so that they could take the entire kit from the display champion multiple times without dying.
Before the 3 hit passive and dashes became very common haha. Also that was Katarina's first rework in the video! OG Kat's W was called "Killer Instincts" before it got changed to "Sinister Steel". It had a passive where she deals bonus magic damage every time she hits an enemy with a basic attack or an ability, then the active was it empowers her next ability, either Bouncing Blade (Applied Grievous Wounds, this would later be moved over to her ult in her rework) or Shunpo (DMG reduction). Plus, her old maxed Q would bounce up to 5 targets.
Her ult would also deals physical and magic damage alternately with each dagger shot. (not sure if it´s still like that, it make ages since a last played it) , but no hit effects were applied.
Some of these are incorrect. What was shown for Evelyn is not her first kit, rather her first big rework. Hate spike would target two enemies around her and deal damage to the one she was attacking and another random enemy at 50% damage.her stealth was an activated ability that would last for around 40 seconds and when attacking out of stealth she would stun. Her ultimate used to be an attack speed and movement speed buff. Jax also had slight changes with the removal of Dodge chance, so his e was changed as it required him to build Dodge chance. His passive also got changed too from giving bonus health based on DMG/AP. There are probably a number of champions in this video that aren't their release versions.
Katarina's for sure is incorrect but I do not fault OP because the original Champion Spotlight is no where to be found on Riot's Channel other than her first/second rework.
The only thing that I disliked about the champion spotlights back then is that they displayed abilities on targets but removed their health bars. Made everything feel so odd
Back when you had to manage your resources (mana) wisely or run oom too fast and have to back. Back when you had no excessive mobility so you had to learn positioning instead of relying on a broken kit to get you in and out of every situation. Back when you had to buy wards and rely on game sense and map awareness to track the enemy jungler and roaming lanes instead of everyone having a million wards all of the time. Back when new champs were cool and unique looking, instead of that tired anime, model look with perfect facial features and bodies. Back when new champs werent constantly being dropped, so a new one felt like a good addition to the game and something you could get hype about. Back when you could actually carry games with superior mechanics and macro and skill instead of every game getting snowballed to no end, because even a super fed gold can crush a higher elo player if given enough gold nowadays thanks to overloaded kits. Back when the player base wasn't so mentally fragile and broken and you could realistically climb. Back when emerald didn't exist and the popular hardstuck elo was plat 1-2 to diamond 3-4.
yo, you got them nostalgie goggles on big time xDD they where dropping champions LIKE MAD, there was a time (around the releases of zac and aatrox) where a new champion was coming every month or even 2 weeks snowballing was WAY worse because there where 0 comeback mechanics like bountys and whatnot, and as games where typically longer that meant you spent way more time watching your team lose people where terrible back in the day also, league got its name as the most toxics game quite early
@@trustmeimgood8414 Zac and Aatrox don't even factor into season 1, you're right it was short intervals between release but the champions you listed are just before they started taking more time to release them. Bounty also existed in season one, not sure if your memory is bad or you're mixing in the early 2010. Plenty of people are also still terrible and the enemy is incapable of closing a game out quickly with a lead, the more things change the more they stay the same.
No infinite dashes, no stupid manaless champs, no stupid characters made to appeal the chinese audience, the concepts were at least unique compared to what RIOT releases now, that is basically the same champ over and over again.
I remember when GP "rise morale" ability had to be used on your minion or friendly npc, basically you would one shot minion and give huge buff to everyone around you. I used to troll my teammates by killing annie ultimate bear or heimer turrets.
Yes but no... what was happening in Seasons 1 and 2 would be considered toxic nowday but back then nobody cared. You called someone idiot for doing something stupid? Cool, he called you an idiot in return. Then both of you proceed to play the game without holding a grudge for next 5 generations. People generally speaking were less of a snowflake so perception of toxicity was way different.

Old fiddle crow throw was the best shit stirring ability
stop youre gonna make me cry ):
Fiddle support. The moment the duo was away from the wave, you could hit each of them 3-4 times with the crow and halve their health pool. It was troll, but I had a lot of fun with it
bro when ARAM became a thing I always went for Fiddle if he was available... Threw da foken crow throw on the last minion and see it bounce in the fog of shadow between the enemies LOL. I remember I loved watching that and seeing the damage chart after game. And the range was SO MUCH BIGGER than lets say a Brand ult.
The old days were one of the rules of lol was any bush might hide a garen or a fiddlestick. (and then with doom bots they've litteraly implemented thsi as a feature lol )
this brings back so many memories, Its been so long yet feels like yesterday I was playing all of these champs. Wish we could go back to leagues glory days. I literally started playing league when cassiopeia was released and its so mind boggling to me how much of a league boomer I am
RIP Crystal Scar and Twisted Treeline
OG twisted treeline was the goat
one of my first matches was on twisted treeline.
i lost to bots lol.
still had a blast. i miss the feeling they gave you back in the day before everything became catoonisch and polished.
old map and champs feel like home.
Crystal scar was my go-to when i wanted a quick round. i kinda miss it.
btw what happend to the "new" twisted treeline? this one lava map they teased nearly 10y ago.
I only played twisted treeline for the first 2 years and got gold rank for the first time in 3v3 ranked
Dominion😢
Actually i remember that the oldest Evellynn had her have an Active Ability that would make her totally invisible for like 30 seconds.
50s, same as Twitch. Also she had a point and click 2s stun.
Also the older version of GP where he could kill his own minions with E
Older version of Ezreal could heal with W, Tf originally could use global TP with his E and ryze had 3 point and click spells with ult greatly boosting your damage and spell vamp. Good times =D
@@Lovecraft_88 before the mother of all nerfs hit her
Don't cite the old magic to me, I was there when it was written!
I quit LoL ages ago, last "new champion" I remember playing was Hecarim (2012) xD
I remember the hype for hecarims release because he was revealed alongside Value so the community all thought we were gonna get 2 champs released at the same time... I remember hearing about the news while I was playing gears of war 3 at a gaming cafe 🥲 good times...
Damn you quit when the game was still fun
Old GP was amazing I won't lie
BLAST ME HEARTIES
Yeah now he has gone full emo. Stacking avarice blades and going full crit, damn that was fun.
@@michaguszko7164 I loved his old E
man ill never forget the feeling of full crit shiv GP one shotting people with his. pistol
@@musicmeister1313 I was new at the game and built old statikk shiv first item. It was amazing
old Yorick and Graves are always gonna be the fucking bests
Sivir: You can move to add extra finesse to her boomerang ability
Ambessa: You have 7 dashes and it's still not enough finesse for shizz
RIP 6 Sunfire Cape staking microwave Evelyn, gone but not forgotten
Back when people would come up with their own unique builds and strategies, these days you either play tryhard meta or get flamed
You're half right. Now, they either follow recommendation like bots without learning the game or look at weird play from pro players without understanding why that works
Abilities then:
"This adds damage and bounces"
Abilities now:
*That one skeleton image with the shit ton of text just to explan the passive*
Bro watching this made me realize how much I miss those simpler days. Maybe riot should make a lol classic, like wow did
That will be awesome. Im in this idea, I would play classic lol so much :
I recall some fans tried to recreate it and Riot shut it down.
Ah yes the league I grew up with. I started during the every champion is free event in 2010.
Bro I thought I was imagining that free champ event 😂 think I started just before it and didn't know why I had access to all
16:00 I like how he just says "That shit wasn't ready but we need to show you something so here is an icon of a different champ" like a SMALL INDIE COMPANY
Dark wind was one of the most op poke ability in early days ARAM.....
Also made him a funny support in both lane.
Nice as always, simpler times.
TRIANGLE FEET
TRIANGLE

Y'all remember when AP scaled EVERY ability, and AD only buffed on hit attacks?
pantheon : am I a joke to you ?
yes old pantheon, you were a joke until your first rebalance.
When AP master yi R = instant pentakill

I kind of miss the goofy looking Fiddle. The new one is top-notch, but they give complete different vibes
to me, old league feels like home. its your childhood and u enjoyed playing it.
hearing madred's bloodrazer felt like a whiplash of nostalgia
Thank for uploading
Rip fiora with juggernaut ult
I was here since Sivir's richochet can be toggled and her attacks bounces in exchange causes her to drain mana per attack until you recast it like Singed's poison. Man, those were good times.
*SOMEHOW, BY THE GRACE OF GOD, TARIC MANAGED TO AVOID HAVING A CAMEO IN THIS CLIP TOO*
Does my champion even exist, guys?
He appears in lane against Sona during her spotlight 18:58

Outrageous
galio shield + teemo attack= full hp good times
Wriggles Lantern 1st item Teemo ftw.
I miss when League was a dark fantasy game. Nowadays it feels like every champ talks nonstop and are super one-dimensional.
Takes insane capabilities to steal community ideas from DoTA forums
Sivir barely changed thats why only me loves her.
Good old times when money wasn't everything they focused on
Miss the old Fiddlesticks.
The graphics are rough, but these animations and designs have so much more soul and heart to them.
Straight line skillshot = Nuke
Old Urgot with old Soraka botlane was so fun back then. good times
fiddle e back then was a nuke, imagine
Back then nuke just meant "single instance of damage".
yeah when two players ran at me on twisted treeline one e bounced between them 5 times and instakill xD good old times
Season 1 player here and I remember these good old days. Hopefully one day we may get a League of Legends Classic. I miss these times.
Ahhh those times when this game was actually enjoyable both in normals and ranks. People were dumb as a brick but at least everyone knew that without crying in face of little criticism. And champs omega broken on release but still unique instead of being copy and paste with few tweaks.
yes, can totally agree. to many children play games and the attitude of some humans are disgusting.
When abilities wasn't an entire patch site full instead of just few sentences
Trundle was so disgusting lol
You made my 10s come back again, thanks! I started at S1 actually so I remember most of those really good.
There was a time Passives only have one line.
I can't describe the rage old Fiddle e used to bring me. You could legit lose half your hp if you got unlucky bounces and had it hit you 3 times, and because you were silenced you just had to take it.
I want this patch as a game mode
Old league and champs should become a permanent game mode
I really miss dominion :(
Oh wow, this was actually after the Singed changes too. His old ultimate used to give him a flat bonus to every basic stat including AD and attack speed. You could pop it and push down a tower while being very difficult to kill, then just walk away.
You forgot kassadin :(
When league was a fun game, now its just a sweaty mayhem. RIP LEAGUE
18:11 Klee?!
i miss old gp he was my main for a while when i started the game
same my stupid ass just built full damage/crit, press e and q someone for their hp bar. it was so simple
@@saunorine Had a meme page with full crit runes and I'd rush a Stattik Shiv just to get the crit lightning on top, watching a third of their hp disappear was extremely funny.
Only the real OG‘s remember GP could kill his own minions with his e
Such literally simpler times..
DAAAAAMN!!!! Corki is like a totaly different charecter compared to now. Thats Sick!!
We need league classic
Someone tried to create it once, Riot shutdown the entire thing in a very weird fashion. Can´t remember the name of the project tough.
@@brunoboldt6336it was called Chronoshift
clean and simple, loved this game
It's so funny how some of these old champs would have been insane with the item rework
Imagine urgot with good muramana AND proc'ing ravenous on his q's
God i miss old league
I love how you can just tell how much less damage there was in the game before. Nowadays taking autos and maxed out spells even with no items just shreds your health.
bro did you play the game in this time? 😂
@@altorezzow8528 I remember oneshotting people with Shaco backstab and ad Poppy
Facts
I remember playing and saying i want to be that champ with the spin bot
Season 1 was specified, not the "first". Alpha and beta kits aren't included.
Back when emerald didn't exist and the popular hardstuck elo was plat 1-2 to diamond 3-4.
yo, you got them nostalgie goggles on big time xDD
they where dropping champions LIKE MAD, there was a time (around the releases of zac and aatrox) where a new champion was coming every month or even 2 weeks
snowballing was WAY worse because there where 0 comeback mechanics like bountys and whatnot, and as games where typically longer that meant you spent way more time watching your team lose
people where terrible back in the day also, league got its name as the most toxics game quite early
You mean when they were realising half baked messes every two weeks?
The glaze is insane on this one
@@trustmeimgood8414 Zac and Aatrox don't even factor into season 1, you're right it was short intervals between release but the champions you listed are just before they started taking more time to release them. Bounty also existed in season one, not sure if your memory is bad or you're mixing in the early 2010. Plenty of people are also still terrible and the enemy is incapable of closing a game out quickly with a lead, the more things change the more they stay the same.
@kioken101 ah, yeah I meant objective bounties. And I think it's reasonable to talk about the time of s1-early S3 as this video does the same :D
Now champs come with 3 passives in their kit, and require a doctoral degree to understand the tooltips
Old kata, fiddlestick raven... I miss them so much
God I used to love playing the old Karma mid back in S2 in gold. Never went back to the champ after the rework but heard it's good.
Idk whats crazier, that it was so many years ago or that I still remember most of it...
Miss old karma so much, she was kinda bad but so fun to play
Old Sona as AD was such a fun pick.
2010: I remember when ppl though tristana was op in bot for her W reset, and teemo was perma ban bc no one wanted to play against him
Nah, buy oracles and teemos useless
Didn’t use to have oracles. And pink ward didn’t show everything until after it got buffed
Ilove sivir being the same as now. Sometimes she's underappreciated but I think she's got a solid kit that seems to stand the test of time
I want go back... Season 1 and 2 were best times. So many friends in game no toxic. Oh I want timemachine
@ Maybe on bronze. But watch old gameplays. Many people friendly and after each game GGs in chat. I did not saw it in season 4/5... You cannot change my mind and feeling what i have had.
@@_Thoraxx I mean... across the board? I made quite a few friends that way back then. In the game we weren't frendly at all but all that matters was how the game was played. Friendly yes, but in harsh way. Something like a little bit trashtalk among good friends if you know what I mean.
this is such huge bullshit, the playerbase was always extremely toxic, you just forgot the bad times because of nostalgia. The meme, that League is the most toxic game did not come up only yesterday
Damn, I feel like I am in middle school again, it is funny most champs are still the same
