This is one of my favorite shows, where there is a main character and a main villain, and I can't say that I love someone more. The show in which they are completely different, but in this plus they are good in their own way, Rex is energetic, young, hooligan, simple-minded, he is led by his superiors, but he makes decisions on obeying orders, and is ready, like Naruto, to stand up with all his might for those whom he protects, Van Kleiss, old, wise, refined, cunning and smart, he takes everything from life to implement his plans, which he considers correct, he is a cool ruler and a good strategist, diplomatic and pleasant in conversation, keeps his minions on a tight leash. And you can understand it precisely by their musical themes, the theme of Rex is a desperate teenage rebellion in search of new horizons, the theme of Van Kleiss is a well-thought-out brave desperate attack on the enemy in order to confront those who threaten you. The hero is as good as the villain.

Well, Cartoon Network. It's always them. But hey, at least it got the luxury of getting an ending. And now Man Of Action decided to bring Generator Rex back so that's neat. I feel like it was a good decision. Good way to introduce more people to Generator Rex and all. Plus, again, for us old fans is neat to see him back. Especially since the original voice actor is back.
Sad to think how he could've changed the world for the better, only to fall first from pride, then from insanity. Without him, the nanite project could've never succeeded, he couldn't do it alone but I see Van Kleiss' character being a cautionary tale of Ego overpowering natural talent/intellect
Remind me of the those stories were the scientists try to breach a super nartual power but fallen to their pride and end up being a victim of their own achievement like Victor Frankenstein or the Invisible man.
He seemed to be a relatively prgamatic and intellectual man, before the Nanite Event took place… My guess is that he was too cold and detached from simplistic moral values, and felt that the consortium, (which were pretty mucb just a bunch of moronic rich-guys) were not worthy of the absolute power the Meta-Nanites had to offer. So he decided to hijack the entire research behind their backs, and take the power for himself, surely a couple of bueracratic dogs were not worthy of the limitless power and knowledge that came with possesing the Meta-Nanites right? Van Kleiss probably thought that such power would be more better handled by an intellectual mind that knew and understood the basic physics of the Universe well enough to order it and rearrange it to a more “Better” World. Little did he know, that he himself had allowed himself to be consumed by his very own greed and desire for domination, just like the Consortium had been… In the End, he fell to his own Megalomania… Also: His cruel backstabbing and murder of the Salazar Parents was just plain unforgivable. Yeah…… He’s a Straight-Up Villain.

Shakir Morgan That's a very nice variation of his theme; can't imagine how I missed it. Too bad the thumps and bumps are too loud and it's impossible to rip it somewhat clean. Another nice variation is from Season 3 Episode 11, when they find Van Kleiss after he time traveled. It's a variation of "Van Kleiss Theme Slow", and I even tried to recreate it, but it doesn't sound exactly like in the show and if it's not 1:1 it's not good enough (my opinion).

Me too! Well, the hair and the eyes are inspired, and he has multiple powers, but one of them is the whole creating monsters thing. Either way, its so much fun basing a character after him

He acts like he's the good guy but there's just something about you can't shake. And his powers are based on dominance and control since his abilities are the power to control someone's mind and turn them into one of his minions. The main character, Nora, is the only one who was able to break free by herself without outside help.

After re-watching generator rex And saw van kleiss started to get crazy in every episode since that i waited and say to myself common it cant be real and even rex was saying Yes i know he wasn't crazy in final if I'm not mistaken
When I saw him shave his beard in the final episode and smile to his reflection in the mirror with his theme playing briefly in the background I shortly after got goosebumps due to his badassery...
Such a powerful, great villain song! It gives me goosebumps from how powerful it is! To think they put such effort and talent into the OSTs os a kids cartoon.... What a gem this show was. It deserves more recognition.
I totally agree! It has one of the best, carefully crafted OSTs in cartoons, and it’s such a shame it’s not available to listen in full form. I spoke with Kevin Manthei, the composer, about 6 years ago, asking him if he could release the whole OST and he told me to remind him again in a few months. Since then, he unfortunately hasn’t responded. In any case, I discovered my passion for music these last few years, and I will try to remake some tracks myself if they won’t get released.
Van Kleiss is an absolute badass best Generator Rex villain along with Black Knight and Biowulf he would give Thanos a run for his money hes so incredable awesome villain hope we see him again in the near future
Man....Generator Rex had some damn good music. Secret Saturdays to. Shame the Ben 10 Reboot somehow only manages to sound like the Orange half of the GR soundtrack and not some of this orchestral perfection.
I love this music! Generator Rex it one of my favourite american cartoons . For me is the best cartoon crafted by Man of Action(One of those I've watched, anyway) (I watched only 4 of 8 cartoons what they created).

The second track is from S1E7, where Van Kleiss tries to take over the United Nations, and the third track is from the last episode (S3E20), where he betrays the Consortium and tries to take the Meta-Nanites for himself.
Sadly no. I keep searching for it since 2018 and I’m fairly certain it doesn’t exist since they haven’t released the full soundtrack of the show. I asked the composer if he could release it, but he didn’t reply.
