- In this episode, I save this 1986 Monte Carlo from going to the scrap yard. It was purchased new in 1986 by my wifes uncle, who drove it to 105xxx miles and then parked it sometime in the early 90's. Tragically, he passed away in May 2020 and a decision had to be made about the car. Title and registration are MIA, so options are limited. In an effort to keep my poor decision making at a constant I decide to try and rescue it. Thanks to friends and family for all the help! Thanks to Johnny Collura for providing music on this one!
I can only imagine drinking my Sunday paper while reading my coffee and look out and seeing my neighbor doing donuts in the backyard in an 80’s Monte Carlo SS. Sweet ride.
Mmmm...donuts
I like how you got the youngster learning not enough grown men taking time to teach boys skills they need also I love a monte Carlo with chrome iroc rims on it
Bought my 86 for $500, owned by an older couple that both passed away in 1998 when the car was parked. A shed had collapsed on it and the son just wanted it gone. Fresh battery, fuel pump, gas, and carb she fired right up and been my daily driver for the past 3 years.
I myself own an ‘84 Monte Carlo SS that is getting an LS1 swap and I love seeing these things coming back to life after so long. Often overlooked cars but they are awesome to have! I’m tuned in.
Thank you!
Amen brother
My Drill Sergeant in BCT had a Monte Carlo that wasn't an SS but it was some kind of sportier version than standard - I remember a bump on the hood so I guess it was a turbo? This was in 1984...
My hands are clapping.Great job stumble across your videos.I will stay tuned
Im so jealous right now! My Nana had this model with T-Tops. I can remember riding with her in it as a tiny tot and me telling her to burn it (Open it up) she would tag it and off we'd go smoking tires. You truly have a Gem here and happy you saved her! If I ever find one I'll do the same thanks for posting
And you had one hell of a Nana!
Great that you brought this car back to life. I bought a 1986 Monte Carlo SS burgundy 5 years ago with an LS2 engine swap supposedly with 500 horsepower. These cars are fun to drive and get a lot of attention.
One of the best looking cars ever made. Starting with my dad Monte Carlo was our favorite. Owned 5 different cars lol
Awesome job bringing this back to life! Thank you for saving this Monte Carlo! 🙌👏👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
DEFINITELY TUNED IN BROTHA💪🏿💪🏿💯💯
You love to see it.
Good save! 👍

Nice save!!! I love these kinds of vids...I'm going to get my 87 cutlass that's been sitting for 15yrs soon...a build for me and my son!
Great video man. I just bought the same car, same color, parked for 20 years. It arrives Thursday!
Thank you! I appreciate that!
Turned out to be a great little car. Hopefully you’ll do more with it. You just happened to show up in my suggestions. I own an 85 SS the same color but with the silver gray interior. I’m needing to restore mine too.
Crime of passion

The elusive Aero coupe! haven't seen one those in a minute.
You got the unicorn of montes
'87 Aero here, black/gold saddle interior
Love that you have your son helping these will be cherished memories for both of you
Good luck with your build bro 👌can waite to see what you do to it
He ain't gonna do much his broke azz used a bunch of half used oil bottles to do the oil change 😂
Sweet my man, very nice!!
It sounds good, it sounds like it should be in my garage 😇
I’m subbing just cause you did this barehanded in 2020! #olschoolcatsrthebest 💯
😁
Great video
Thanks!
Great vid sir😊😊
Thanks! 😃
Nice find brother Im looking for one too especially from 81-86 CL 💪 hey bud I was ganna say You should've ran some marvel mystery oil in the oil and gas in a small gas tank with a hose from the fuel pump remember the car sat for 20 years the gas is tarnished mud
ive got an 86 t top, can only hope to restore it one day
Nice work neighbor! I'll be watching to see what happens next. Any chance there will be some Mazda restoration videos?
It's on my roster!🤞
@@sledsgarage Great, I'll be watching.
Damn! Cant believe it runs that decent after 30+ years. Not sure what your plans are for the car but if its to go original then you got a good car, just needs some paint, maybe freshin up the interior and then maybe overhaul the engine and get her cleaned up
12:12 was so violent and fun to watch from that angle
I had 2 cameras and almost footage from another angle, glad I didn't
I always wanted one of these monte Carlo’s and almost pulled the trigger on one multiple times in the past but I recently started looking for one and people are asking pretty crazy money for them these days
G body is life !
Can't believe it turned over after 28 years
What gets me is no rodent damage! not even a mouse turd...lol
Good stuff
ThankYou!
I have to beat the hood on my 86 monte carlo ss for it to open. Mine has a 350 tpi motor with a bigger cam in it.
💪 Charlie!
How I miss my 86 Monte Carlo SS. Your video brought back so any good memories. What are your plans for your project?
Nice find how much was this when you found it?
Im happy i found your channel! this is dope. Whats the name of the song in the intro?
I'm glad you found The channel! My friend wrote it some time back. As far as I know it doesn't have a name...
i had 3 of these fully restored one sold it currently have 87 cutlass nice car what are your plans for it? that was a hoot when u put shirt on new sub here lol
I have hopes not plans...Glad liked the shirt part!
I would roll the dice and spend $4.00 for a new fuel filter rather than $6.00 worth of starting fluid...
are you going to restore this beauty? I had a 1985 Chevy Eurosport. Nice car.
Thanks! plans for it? more like hopes...LOL
Pease tell me you syphoned out that 25 year old kerosene out of the gas tank before you started the engine. o_0
You fix that SS up; it will sell and make you some money, these days I've been looking around and if clean, and have a good motor, they will sell for 15-25k right now. I picked up my 86 SS a couple of years ago, it had 8900 miles on it and gave 18K for it. You rarely see them on the road these days... and everyone who had 1 back in the day slaps themselves for selling it.
What are you gone do to it next?
Ok what are you planning on doing with it?
Yeah buddy how much you asking
How did you find the car
It was my wife's uncles car
Show me your secrets 👍👍
Tag me with updates you caught a sweet ride
Will do!
How much are you going to sell it for
Hadn't given that much thought.
I WANT THAT CAR
Harley davidson theamed 80s monte carlo super sport

How long has she been sitting? Before you picked her up
since the early 90s
How much you pay
000.00
What they used the car for storage 😂😅🤣
Right!
Pressure washing 1st.
Car belonged to a slob, Pizza Anyone?
Welcome to a bad movie. Grab the hammer and beat on it. That’s way better then taking it off and rebuilding it.
Nice!
Thanks!
DAMN! no pizza review? 1 bite everyone knows the rules.......
@autoactionrebuild
Great video!! I need to check the 83 to see if I still have my Club... LOL
Now, that's a great save! Those Cars are so easy to restore, and upgrade horsepower and handling! Love the style and looks of it. If love to find one!
Nice find
Just watched your channel for the 1st. time and it's cool, just a DIY kind of fix, it's the best way, doing it like that for ever since fixing my bicycle(actually I made my bike from scrap parts my friends throw away but, I made it..not bought it ie; proud about that). Great stuff, fixing things nobody could. Nice work, Nicer Monte Carlo SS as well, Keep Fixing!!!.
Definitely worth saving 👍🏿👌🏿
Wipers left on… not “ran when parked” but “rain when parked”
🤣🤣
How much did they sell it to you for ?
Time and travel
Liked and subscribed for more Monte Carlo content
Beautiful car and it deserves a paint job in my opinion. An old pickup truck with patina is one thing but a car like that deserves to look right😊
Agreed on this one.
Wow, this video is HILARIOUS. Inside that car is the history of someone’s whole life. hahaha
Right!
That motor runs great 💪🏾
U wanna sell it to me
oddly, there is a line...
In my state we can get a duplicate title for $20, Hopefully your uncle's wife could get one through the estate and then transfer it to you easily ! all nice clean and legal !
Its a long process, but were doing it
You Saved it. Hell yea. I kinda did the exact same thing as you. I bought a 1984 monte carlo ss that sat for 15 years, the initial drive was ok. But driving it home, It threw the belt, Popped a brake line. Was a fun Drive lol made it home at around 240 degrees. lol But yea they are very different cars. Everywhere you drive you will get thumbs up. Dont see them too much. But seriously great find. Glad to see you saved one from the junkyard. Hopefully you can get the title situation figured out.
Hope so!
Great video, nice rescue of this Monte Carlo SS.Always a favorite of mine I own a 1988 the last year they made them. They get alot of looks on the road and have the feel of a muscle car even though the hp is not there.
My Sister had a car just like this same color. She came to Milwaukee to visit my Dad and us and when we got back from playing softball her boyfriend parked on the street. When he went to open the door a car was coming buy and ripped the door open. Sprung the door. She got it fixed but don't know what they did with it after that. Love those cars.
Lucky guy, I've been searching for years to find that color combo in a 1985, I bought a new one aug.of 85, poor car was stolen twice and wrecked 3 times, never my fault, the kid ran a stop sign and totaled it ending our 13 love affair,I sure miss it, great find,I'll throw my hat in the ring if you decide to sell it.
Superb job reviving this ss monte Carlo and its so cool that your son is a part of this project you remind me of my dad when he get me to work on his cars with him I commend you 👍👍👍
Getting him off the Xbox every chance I can! He's a quick study, hopefully show me a thing or 2 b4 I know it!
@@sledsgarage i agree you have to try to take kids off the x box and interact naturally its so cool that you taking him under your wing im sure he will be a good automobile tech in the future
A MCSS! Great news, looking forward to this save and hoping there is more (discovered this 2 years after). Loving how the car came with a box of shop rags (some assembly required) and some sustenance (only slightly expired). Thinking I should sub.
Still have my '87 from high school. Sadly, it has set for multiple years. After watching this, Hopefully I can use some of your tricks to wake the old boy up. Question: How did you drain the gas tank?
Tape deck, that is something you don't hear anymore.
You would still happen to have the 86 SS MONTE CARLO would you? If so I'm interested in it? Thank you
Hey man, just wanna say you're doing some pretty awesome work here with this badass car. At the time of writing, this channel has 576 subs and deserves thousands more, so keep at it! I'm your 577th sub lol.
Thanks Kevin! I appreciate That. (and agree) Thanks for subbin!
Nice , just don't go putting 24s on it .. and don't sell it to anyone who would ever put spinner rims on it either lol ...
Pinky swear!
Body looks decent for 30 years in a garage
She needs paint 🎨
Little dude can work on my car
+1 for the Indian poster.
Give it to your kid.
Will it run and drive?
Awesome. Just needs a 4.8 with a cam dropped in it.
5.7
How long did it take you to get it running again?
Just the weekend
Good job I did the same thing two years ago bought a white 86 o t-top for a g note sat in a farmer’s field for about 20 some years I got it towed home changed the plugs ,plugs were seized broke one off had to easy out it job and a half added fresh gas fired right up idled good could spin the tires easy 3.73 gears ran perfectly and drove nice went to the car wash then flat blacked it drove it for a bit then traded it for a 05 Silverado 4x4 nice shape was asking 2500 for my Monte
Yo Sled! John Nada here! Was hanging with Johnny Beefcake last night. He told me of your channel! Good stuff my man!! Good seeing ya!!
The fact that you're a student of the Peg from Zip Ties N Bias Plies school of Cosby Sauce application gained you another subscriber, bud.
This car is in really good shape, you can tell by the windshield washer reservoir, it’s still white instead of old crusty yellow, interior , dash look good too, car just sat in heat, cold for very long time!
