  • Lots happening this week with the electric Porsche 928 conversion. We check out the gearbox, design a battery box, do a bit of electrical stuff and Matt makes does a lot of what blokes do in workshops - make a lot of noise and sparks.

The engine is light but it is putting a lot of torque out so securing it properly is a must 😉

Regarding your battery packing, Fellten and others advise NOT to install battery modules upside down on the cooling plate. Yours may be OK but I suggest you double check prior to finalising your approach.

The loom is removed by pushing the motor bay harness through the firewall into the main compartment. It will fit after disconnecting the plugs on the underside of the under bonnet fuse box.

Thanks Wayne. Loom is all in a big plastic tub now, waiting for a future episode!

Keep going Stu! See you have some fans on the Rennlist 928 forum.
Impressive calculations. Those connectors are alien technology brilliant.

Those connectors are fantastic. I wish I’d had them years ago when putting in new stereos in my old cars. How much are they?
The mount for the motor looks great too, and my main concern would be the torque that will try and spin the motor rather than the wheels.
When you showed the design for the battery box you showed essentially two groups of modules with a gap. Why is the top module so much higher? Ie is there some reason why all 3 aren’t as low as possible?

      1) Cheap. That whole box of connectors for about $130 on Amazon
      2) The motor will also be secured at the back and side. That was the first of 3 mounts.
      3) There won't be a gap. I just lifted them for the video to show the HV cabling and underside. They will all be as low as possible

What is happening? Have enjoyed the series so far but nothing for over 4 weeks. Health problems? Some update please.

Sorry about the wait. Next episode on Monday. You're right though - it has been a bit quiet. Matt has been a bit overloaded with other work, but things are looking up. Thanks for your concern!

@@inCARnationAustralia Thanks so much for the quick response. Very glad to hear that it was pressure of other work and not a health concern.
