I have a Good Tone OM-800 Octave Mandolin that I play all the time. Thanks for making this video! I've been trying to add more dynamics in my own music so it was helpful to see the different strumming styles.
I have an Ashbury 'S' Octave Mandolin which sounds great and I much prefer it to the Mandolin itself. It is more difficult to play with a lot of finger stretching and it is great to have specific videos for this instrument. I use mine for Traditional Irish tunes and hope to build up to a level where I can play in our local session if and when it resumes. I have been able to play whistles to this level and am spending most of my practice time with the octave mandolin to try and bring my playing up to speed. I'm currently participating in Fretboard Success, having just completed bootcamp. Thanks for all your support so far Magnus.
I play a custom octave mandolin made by Trevor Healy before he started Healy Guitars in Northampton MA.. It is an A style and has a good bass. I use it mostly for chord accompaniment to tunes and singing. It has rosewood back and sides with a spruce top made from pieces too small to use in a guitar.!
im playing a bouzouki as an octave mandolin and hoping i can continue so as not to confuse myself with the change in tuning (GDAE rather than GDAD) since i'm also using the mandolin and fiddle. hoping learning each compliments the other.
I have a octave mandolin, which I thought was same as the Mandola? Tell me what way you prefer to tune it and how you manage the impossible stretches,eg...F chord? Many thanks.G
Could you tell what strings on the octave...I just bought a set of Daddario for my Peterson Octave....havent put them on yet....too busy practicing.....I would love straight fiddle tunes on the octave....I like to stick to GDAE tuning so I can go from octave to my Eastman 305 and my Vega tenor banjo ( which needs work badly) 😊
I would love to learn some easy fiddle tunes.....the stretch us harder on the octave mando....mayve you have some tips? I have a 1999 Peterson Octave mandolin

I have a Weber Hyalite 2011 tune GDAE. Do you have any suggestions about which pickup system I should install?
