These types of videos are great for people who might be intimidated by getting into biking. I say anything that helps anyone get over the hump of just starting is a good thing. Not to mention your open-mindedness. Awesome as always Tim.
Your videos make me think of past times riding mtb bikes with friends back before clipless pedals and suspension, exploring new trails, bonking, getting wet and cold in our beautiful NE Ohio weather. It was the best of times.
Random I know but I quite like the building across from the pub at 14:09. I'm a sucker for compound arch windows, though it looks like some 'improvements" have taken place here. E-bikes are bikes too! Here in Eugene they're blending in well, and I see em on club rides frequently-thanks for your words to our fellow cyclists, cheers Tim.
That is one of the older ones in town and I love it too. The facade was nicely restored a few years ago. I've turned down e-bike offers for a while but this one looked really cool and is giving me the chance to talk about the topic. Cheers!
Yeah - it is definitely designed as a commuter bike and I want to use it that way a little more before making another vid with it. It does give you a ton of confidence in the traffic with that acceleration. Thanks!
I have loved bicycling since I was a kid and now as a “senior citizen” have two e bikes, a fat tire around town ride and a MTB. I often ride with no assist but when I turn it on it’s pure exhilarating fun, I feel like I did when I was doing thousands of miles a year. Ride while you can. 😊
I love my Focus Paralane. It has the Fazua system with integrated battery and motor. If I want to, I can drop them out and ride the bike as an analog steed. Perfect
Former home? Doesn't seem like whoever owns Raleigh does much of anything anymore.😢. (I actually made a video with some of the history a few years ago and showed the original factory).
Indeed, to my mind it's just a name now and has very little if any connection to the original company / factory. I was born and bred here, and grew up in the 1970s when every kid had a Raleigh it seemed.
i love your content, dude. this title alone needs to be screamed from the rooftops. when did bike touring (or even just bike riding) become such a onerous activity???? it's all about the joy.
Great ride and looking forward to in depth ride on the e-bike. I ride with a mixed age group and one rider is 79 (and she has double hip replacements). She is 80 in the summer and still getting out on an e-bike! You don’t need to be old to enjoy them and I would snap one up for some fun if I could afford it.
I rode it home from dinner at my parents' last night and everyone loved it! Also - it was a blast to ride home faster on a night I would have otherwise taken my car. Cheers!
very nice video, as always. ***Did I hear you correctly that you plan to have additional video(s) with more complete evaluations of Tenways ebike??*** Thanx!!
Thanks! Yes - this bike was sent for review. I want to wait until I ride it a lot more before I go through the specs and my opinions though. (obviously you can tell I enjoy pedaling it around)
You know Tom, many years ago I was assigned to Ashtabula small boat station whilst in the USCG. Learned about a lot of things in my time there. Met some wonderful people. Ever heard of that distiller Cleveland Whisky?
Such a cool vid, just riding round in cool places just like when we were kids, still doing it is the best! Whereabouts are you in the states? Great music and photos ❤️💪🚴♀️🏁
One of my bikes has 55s and one has 44s. When I'm on the 55s I rarely wish I was on the 44s, When I'm on the 44s I sometimes wish I was on the 55s. I guess it depends on how much road we hit. But even then I don't mind the 55s its just that my bike with the 44s is set up a bit faster - drop bars and all.
Fresh shave. Nice. 70-200 on the bike! That’s Bike Rucking. I’d like an electric as a side bike. Just not as my day 2 day. Prefer to turn human exertion into locomotion. But I’m not a e-bike hater like some seem to be. I don’t care what you ride. As long as you ride we can be friends. BTW love the Cheery blossoms. Reminds me of home 🇯🇵 Cya Rockie
My goal was to hold off much longer on having an e-bike but I wanted to talk about them and also share this one. I might head out today and get more cherry blossom photos - cheers!
Not sure what you mean - I clean up after myself....but my bikes live in the basement - I sometimes bring them in the front door if I'm worried my cat might run out the basement steps at night.
@TimFitzwater well ya, I know that lol. But I've seen your videos on C&O also. So if you're on those again let me know. I'm not to far from Williamsport or Shepardstown.
I try not to be a bicycle Luddite but guess I sort of am. I am conflicted on e-bikes, even though I get it. Just see so many people who shouldn’t be on them in my opinion. Like they are the new fad toy. But we are hilly around here and there are folks with limitations. For me I could actually see it as a more practical thing, making the usual errands more two wheel friendly. I’m sure the older I get the more it will make sense. Kind of like the old minivan mystic, yeah I know it works but…
But there are so many bad drivers, bad workers, bad dads, bad sisters - can't do anything about it. People can get on whatever vehicle they legally want to, right? E-bikes are a net-positive - thats all that matters.
@@TimFitzwater Hey Tim. I never thought “bad” about them, just that young healthy people might get more out of unassisted bikes. But yep people can ride what they like. No big deal, I’m not loosing sleep over it. Saw a lot of older folks on them on my eclipse ride today. Looked happy. Yes looked like a net-positive. Also, found it interesting that you felt you were just riding a bike when the assist wasn’t engaged. Wasn’t sure they were good at that. Heck I’ll probably own one one day. Appreciate your insight.
E-bikes are great until you have to work on them. But maybe you wont have to to because they are disposable toys. And just like toys they wind up in the landfill
Yea I ride a frame or two older than I am, and I'm pushing 40. I am fairly confident this will not the life of any E bike today. That being said, in 10 years if and when battery platforms become standardized, I could see a different ending to that story. I do appreciate the accounts of folks who can literally replace a car with one, but man they sure kill the simplicity and elegance of a classic safety bicycle.
That isn't true anymore - especially with hub drive bikes. Aluminum bikes are not just disposable either. Its a pretty funny thing to say also in light of how few older cars stay on the road these days. Just more outdated mental gymnastics to hate on something. Thumbs down.
They don't kill anything - they are a completely different tool. These comments are so ridiculous. I could say the same thing about carbon race bikes - but I don't because people can choose the vehicles they want to ride and any bike is better than every car.
@@TimFitzwater your not a bike mechanic, your a photographer, please ask your local bike mechanics on how much fun they are having, we are struggling to fix these now, so 4 years from now the bike is obsolete and in the garbage
