    A couple things about Tencent for those curious:
    At this point in time Tendcent is the Chinese equivalent to google. They're the biggest tech company in the country with numbers of active user in all their services that dwarf everyone else. The reason they've been allowed to get that big is because of Chinese scrutiny of western companies like google, mostly consisting of demanding they tweak their services in various ways but also with propaganda making them seem untrustworthy. For a long time Tencent hasn't had to deal with that, but around 2017 "the party" has started putting pressure on on them to do things /exactly/ how they like it and they haven't let up since. They lose millions every year bending over backwards to address what is basically never ending waves of government funded bad PR. But they have to. Everyone is subject to what the party wants, and there is no recourse, because at any moment they could crack down and break up your whole business and you can't do shit about it. So, it doesn't really matter if Tencent doesn't like their government, because ultimately they're puppets under their control. They may technically act autonomously on individual matters, but when the party says jump, all they can do is ask how high.

    You mentioned the Tencent thing and it is actually very interesting. They were fairly untouched by the Chinese government for the longest time all up until like 2 years ago where the Chinese government wanted to exert some authority over them due to the popularity of their products. Tencent initially refused but then that hard game freeze happened causing Tencent to lose millions in value. When it got reverted I think it can be fair to say their is an unspoken agreement where if Tencent goes out of line the government can take them out. This also led to the government getting access to private info from Tencent's Chat app.(I think that's where the head butting between the two begain).
    Not saying that they aren't innocent in all of this but the Chinese government is the biggest problem here. Granted hurting Tencent would hurt the chinese economy so I guess it's a weird situation overall.

      China doesnt care about economic loss if it means having control over everything, Hong Kong is their biggest economic center and kicking the hornet's nest like they did probably has done hilarious amounts of damage to the chinese economy long term. A shame they have infinite money due to totally not slave labour.

    • @NeoCreo1
      @NeoCreo1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Adregun da Warboss Actually, Hong Kong’s overall contribution to the Chinese economy has shrunk drastically over the years, displaced by fast growing mainland cities. That’s part of the reason why they are becoming more aggressive, they no longer have to fear the economic impact of destabilizing Hong Kong.

It's the reason you're always hearing Libertarian nut jobs screaming "END THE FED". There is also the fact that you don't actually know if that is true or not, could be that the rushed nature of 76 suddenly becoming gay based on one comic panel of a blurry picture frame that originally was probably just a picture of a old war friend was because some Business man told the lore team to make him gay.

Or the fact that again, it was based on a one off panel that was stretched extremely far just to make it about soldier 76 stalking his old gay lover who we never learn fuck all about because they are an object and not a real character.
      I'm not asking for Soldier 76 to start spouting about how much dick he sucks or how hot his male team mates are, I'm asking for a real relationship to be written instead of the clear baiting they were doing with him suddenly becoming gay for no reason despite it never being brought up once in his back story or him even seeming like the type to stalk people from his past when he clearly has better things to do with his time.
      Oh ya, and of course put it in the actual game so it's no longer paid fan fiction used to trick people into thinking OW are the good guys... wait they can't, China hates the gays and everyone working for Blizzard gets paid by China to not include that stuff in the game.
      You might think you're cynical, but when you start believing the people getting paid by the scum bag companies to do scum bagish things aren't also scum bags with literally nothing but good will to go on, then I think you might have a brighter perspective on life than you would like to believe.

They always hype up how great the country is on commentary, how progressive it is (even though women weren't even allowed to be shown ON SCREEN for the first few events), and how lucky they are to be there.
