@@Farvann This is so funny, can’t really do that in Florida. We had a lot of death metal bands here but it’s too hot in the woods and lots of ticks. Not fun. Only works in places that snow I guess.
Stage 13: realizing you haven't written anything innovative
Stage 14: realizing you don't care and continuing to be trve
Level 8, 9, 10 are the most accurate ones.

Level 11: Disconnecting completely from any Metal music for like 4 months and going back to those high school Trance/Techno tunes with some New Wave, 70s Rock is optional
Level 12: Making peace again with Metal, but only with Heavy and Death Metal and pretending Black Metal doesn't exist
Level 13: Randomly waking up starving for Dissection and Immortal out of nowhere
Level 14: It's official, back to Black Metal...
And the circle repeats, I'm on the Level 14 now and slowly drifting to Level 11 for the third time

That damn Darkthrone CD is still stuck to my ceiling and won't fall! I'll never become a Black Metalhead like that...
So if I listen to Darkthrone 666 more times then I'll level up, right?
Although Darkthrone is my favorite band, you get low amounts of XP for each listen so it's not really the best way to level up. I suggest farming Raw Black Metal bands since they're pretty much the most obscure ones so they hand fat XP per listen. If you reach the point where your char. is strong enough, you can even venture throughout the dangerous realms of Black Ambient, that's where the end-game loot is.
@@vonbl3 This strategy seems really good. But i reccomend searching for Raw black metal bands who only released one demo in the 90' and dissapeared. You get the most XP that way because no one can call you a poser if they don't know the bands you are listening to.

Sunbather was my first black metal band ever, really good to get me used to the genre
@@Silverdynamix check out Obsidian Tongue amd Wolves in the Throneroom, they are certainly both close to Sunbather but can branch off different ways, Spotify's autoplay after an album is a great way to find similar stuff after albums by either as well.
I am all of the above, and still liking black metal, although my standards to like a band are raised, of course. And listening to a lot of different music is true indeed.

some just because of the fashion and style and never ever listened to any actual black metal song except freezing moon of mayhem
some because of Death metal, even some people because of dungeon synth and some because of Vargs and Euronymous drama, and...
I'm slowly getting into black metal because it seems like the next step down. I started with hard rock, moved on to Sabaton, then onto old school heavy and thrash metal, then onto thrash revival, then death metal, then goth metal, and now black metal, as it's the darkest genre yet for me.

Hah, been in the same situation before. One time was accompanied by other fellow latam black metal heads but with much darker skin (I'm pale) and we all decided to bail quick and not speak Spanish to each other, weird as all hell when it gets like that.

Hello everybody
I kinda got a stupid question.
I recently joined a black/ doom / deathmetal band as a vocalist.
The screams and guttarals are really fun to sing but i have a huge problem. The cleanparts ..
I'm new to this subgenre and I have no idia what kind of clean vovals are fitting for this music.
Do you guys have any recommendations or tipps on how i can get inspiration to make fitting cleanparts?
As I said dont have any experiance about the subgenre. I'd be glad if you could break down the genre in simple words, so I can get a better perspective in writing songs.
Right now i still look in to diffrent core subgenres to get some inspiration, but my gut tells me, thats not a good idea.
A friend of mine told me it's more like an atmospheric thing and the lyrics dont really matter?

Your in a band that requires extreme vocal techniques and despite you not listening to these subegenres you know how to do the vocals?
@Ginkgo886 mix some high screaming vocals and gutturals where it fits. Add some dynamics and ask the bandmates, what they're expecting of styles and lyrics.
So yeah, i joined a band of a subgenre that i dont know and i do vocals.
I understand your concern and yes it wasn't so smart, but its fun for me and my bandmates like what I'm doing so far. Thats why I asked about the clean singing parts, they're my main concern
@@trenoxify but have you actually sat down and learned how to do these techniques without hurting yourself? That was my main concern not that you were in a band of a sub genre you didnt like but doing these vocals without learning is very dangerous
@@DrinkingBleachOnTheBeach yes, dont worry about my health. I've been practicing heavy vocals for the last 10 years or so. Never in a band tho, but technique and warmup are my priority. Trial and error teaches a lot ^^'
