    Thank you, brother. I just got this app yesterday and got frustrated immediately! But, I knew exactly where to go…the soundest room. Your work fills an important need and doesn't waste any time. Excellent work.

    It’s crazy what they can pack into an iOS app. In the early 90s I had dedicated Atari that would load and playback a few samples. No editing or efx. Quite simple. I can’t remember how many hundred of $$ I put into that, not including the sample libraries, which by comparison today, were quite expensive. Will probably pick this up. Great video. Excellent teacher. Many thanks.

    When recording loops into Samplr from other apps using audiobus, be sure to also enable "Quantize to bars" for easier, cleaner trimming of the recorded sample. Then you can get exact loop lengths (1 bar, 2 bar, 4 bar, etc.), especially if Samplr is synced to the tempo of the other app. Neat!

    This is one heck of an app, LOVE it! :D
    It's apps like _SamplR_ / _Gestrument_ / _Geoshred Control_ etc that are truly making the ipad platform a genuine new musical instrument of its own!
    The future is looking pretty tasty, and I'm glad I'm on the (audio) bus!

    Really great video thanks !
    I’ve been looking for this type of program for weeks now since I bought my Hercules P32 DJ.
    I need to modify my own samples and this looks like it will enable me to do so - at long last ! ! !
    Thanks again for explaining it so clearly.
    Best Regards Eddie.

    Thanks for another great video. I've had this app for ages, but could never understand what it was attempting to do. It looks very interesting, and I will definitely be doing something with it!
    So, I'm guessing that to correctly synchronise your own samples (as you demonstrated from the input) you'd be better creating and editing the samples elsewhere, then import them. I didn't see how to get a good solid synch to begin with, or how to edit within Samplr to trim into the space.

    • @P0LYG0NW1ND0W
      @P0LYG0NW1ND0W 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree, that's what Samplr needs next, the ability to trim samples or edit them within the app so if you do mess up your timing you can always just trim the sample and then quantize it.

    • @TheSoundTestRoom
      @TheSoundTestRoom  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I would definitely start with the right tempo of an imported sample, it makes life much easier

    • @someonetookmynick
      @someonetookmynick 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      P0LYG0NW1ND0W a possible solution for this would be to open the samples in BeatMaker 2, trim/edit/quantize them, then send them to Samplr? cheers

    • @P0LYG0NW1ND0W
      @P0LYG0NW1ND0W 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      clasehit I don't have BM2 but I do have Audioshare, so I suppose I could do the same thing in that (it allows you to trim recordings) and then export them to Samplr. I'll have a go and see what happens.

    • @billyglenjr5327
      @billyglenjr5327 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      P0LYG0NW1ND0W initially, I thought editing sample length could be performed inside SAMPLR, but this does not seem to be possible. I too have begun to record my initial sample inside Audioshare, then edit start and end time, save copy to Dropbox, then import to SAMPLR. Last night I used the Record Mix feature, while "stopping" and "starting" some of the Samples at different times creating more of an arrangement versus a loop. After doing I used the mix down as the main track and then recorded additional tracks. The resampling feature is dope.

    Can I ask - without using an internal ipad mic, how can i get an audio clip say from youtube into the samplr programme...
    As far as I'm aware, I cannot just play the youtube audio into samplr via mini jack cable.

    Good overview! I have samplr for a while and i use it in a midi setup. There are several changes i'd like to see, you got an idea when they finally will release an update? i really hate the delay effect to get messed up when in midi slave cause of constant tempo alterations etc.

    Hey @thesoundtestroom +thesoundtestroom Is Samplr able to be played on any iPad? I
    saw a cheapo ipad in town for £80 and wanna play with this program and my teenage engineering PO-12 and Korg Kaosliator? I am from Liverpool too. I can't find specs on the website and notice your pad is an older version... Thanks in advance

    • @TheSoundTestRoom
      @TheSoundTestRoom  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      GuerrillaDivision yeah, I think that was an iPad 4, possible a 2 but probably a 4, I can't remember, but Samplr has been around for ages so anything other than a one and I reckon your good to go, anyway for £80 if it's a 2 it's still worth it, and if for some reason it's still running iOS 7 it's golden..don't update it, I'm pretty sure the iPad in this demo is definitely a 4

    The only thing is on this, the video is now 3 years old, so with the new apps and updated ones, HOW would I use something like audioshare to FIRST get samples into it, THEN load them into elastic drums, ect.... Any help is great. Thanks

    • @TheSoundTestRoom
      @TheSoundTestRoom  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, although this video is three years old it still works exactly the same way, and you get samples in AudioShare in many different ways, I mainly use DropBox, or when I finish a project I Export it to AudioShare, the questions you are asking are really difficult to explain in a note that’s why we have all the videos, it also makes a lot more sense if you actually have the AudioShare app already, I couldn’t work without it now

  • @folk112
    @folk112 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, I have seen on a review of the Korg Little bits that the person connected that output into the iPad/samplr. I´m wondering if you know how? I saw there was a lightning dongle with a 3.5mm jack. I asked that person but I never seem to get any answer from him... so I m trying with you, cus I can't get any good leads from internet on how to get live input to sample. great vid!

    • @TheSoundTestRoom
      @TheSoundTestRoom  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, the lightning connector you mention with the 3.5mm jack is only for headphones or audio output, it’s basically designed for iDevices without a dedicated headphone output.
      There are several ways to record audio into Samplr, you can record directly from the iPad Microphone, but you can plug your Little Bits output directly into the iPad too, to do this you are going to need some sort of USB Audio Interface, if you just wanted a mono input you could use something like a iRig HD or iRig Pro, these are mainly designed for guitars. For stereo you can get something like a Focusrite 2i2 Scarlett, or a Behringer Xenyx 802USB Mixer.
      I use the Behringer, I made a video Tutorial a few months ago showing how to record Audio into the iPad using that.
      Just search this on TH-cam
      thesoundtestroom Behringer Xenyx 802 USB Connect To iPad
      Of course once you have set this up you can record any audio into any iPad DAW like Cubasis, Auria, GarageBand etc etc.
      I hope this helps a bit 😎

    • @folk112
      @folk112 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes indeed, I was mistaken by the dongle actually, it was a lightning USB connector and also in my case the little bits need an extra bit for the usb I/O. But it is good to know cus I want to record things faster into the samlpr with this kind of extra thingies. For me the simplicity of turning on a microphone and speak directly into samplr is of great importance.
