Marcus was John’s ally from the beginning. He took the contract to protect John, one of he didn’t he would be replaced. Second if they contracted another he would be able to watch his back. The bullet in the pillow was a warning shot. There are stories within the story.
@ Dialogue pay attention: this is a contract not freelanced. Two people were given the deal with guarantees of being paid Marcus and Perkins (She would get double if done on sacred grounds). That’s the reason he visited Marcus himself and the reason Marcus took the Job was to Protect John. Full dialogue tell the full story.
@BruceJohnson-om5kl Marcus literally asks if the contract is open. And Vigo says yes. It's not that hard to understand. Did they not teach context clues in your school???
Marcus asked if the job was open to learn if other people would be trying to kill John. Since it was, he took it as well, so he'd have an excuse to protect him. Not that complicated.
One detail I love is how the Red Circle scene is played out like a video game. When John is in blue light he's "safe". When he gets pulled into the bad guys' red light he's in danger.
My wife of 30 years passed in 2009 from pancreatic cancer. The only woman I ever dated or kissed. At the time of death, she was 49 and I was 54. I got both of her beagles and I'm a cat person. I put so much love on them because they were hers and it's what she would have wanted.
It's a pretty old trope to kill the animal sidekick to get the audience invested (ARTAX!!!), but the depth we were invested in such a short time with this, and attaching it to the wife's memory, that was very unique and masterfully executed.
First thing i thought of when i saw your post, almost as much as the Champawat Tiger in Nepal and India in the early 1900's. The female Bengal Tiger killed 436 before being killed by a British hunter sent to kill her. She was smart and managed to avoid hunters and they're traps and she traveled about 20 miles a day.
Fun facts: Both of the dogs used in the movie were shelter dogs; the actor who "killed" Daisy ended up adopting her and Keanu actually adopted the Pittie at the end.
Daisy is actually a boy named Andy, owned by Kim Krafsky, a dog trainer for Animal Actors International. Fortunately, Andy is alive and well, and living with a friend of Krafsky's who changed his name to Wick in honor of the movie
Nice reaction Cindy. A couple quick facts. The dog John took had a tag on it's cage saying it was to be put down. So John took it. Also the new pooch is keanu's dog. The actor who "killed" the 1st pup was so messed up by guilt. He and his family adopted that dog and took it home. The official body count for John in this 1st chapter is 77. Unlike most movie series the sequels in this are amazing. No spoilers from me, but to say that if you liked this (and you did) you will love the rest. Great guest actors and amazing fight sequences throughout. Also they are referred to as chapters because each one starts right where the last one ended. Buckle up. You are in for a great ride. Through all the chapters there are shout outs and call backs to scenes from other movies. Oh and his buddy didn't miss at the hotel. He was warning John that someone was in his room. Miss Perkins. The door man at the club who John "gave" the night off was speaking to him in code. The 60 or 65 kilos that he said he lost, was actually a heads up to John about how many people were there to protect the kid. I have to say, I am jealous of you watching these movies for the 1st time. Enjoy!!! ; )) Stay safe and well.
Keanu has made a whole genre of movie from these films Gun fu. So cool especially as he did 90 percent of his stunts and the director making his debut is thw stunt assistant and later coordinator in the Matrix movies that's how he got so many cameos
19:10 I think the glass was thick enough to do two things: distort where the target was behind it visually, and deflect a bullet that hit it. dork just got lucky.
1:11 it’s cool in the movie when he’s watching the clips of his wife her words fit in what he’s doing. 2:42 the reason John asked him what he’s doing there cause he’s from John’s old life. 5:28 letting off steam. He misses his wife and probably was thinking about joining her. 17:35 he let Francis go cause Francis told him in code how many people he had to deal with. Keanu did the majority of his action scenes and refused to say he did his own “stunts”. He said he’s not a stuntman so he only did action scenes. He learned this fight scene the day of shooting and was running a high fever but still gave us one hell of a performance. 19:41 he has extra mags but if the clip has 15 rounds in it then after the 15th shot he has to reload. His gun use is very realistic and not the “Hollywood” gun use. 35:46 that one was scheduled to be put down.
The clipboard on the pittie's cage at the end has a paper stamped "TO BE PUT DOWN". Wick saved that dog from being euthed. The sequels have dogs in them too, with the dogs in 3 & 4 having prominent roles. No spoilers, but you'll be amazed at them in 3 and a dog in 4 will have you laughing like hell towards the end!
"This is the only guy John has actually had to fight for more than like one second." You're more right than you maybe realize. That's Kirill, the same guy who fought him at the Red Circle, stabbed him, and threw him off the balcony. Every JW movie has at least one man who can go toe-to-toe with John, at least for awhile. In this movie, Kirill is that man.
When Marcus asked if the contract was exclusive, and Vigo said it was open, Marcus took the contract to help John. I love that Willem Defoe's character gets to be a big red herring, with people not expecting him to actually be John's loyal friend. Also, Keanu learned how to do 99% of the things you see him doing in the John Wick movies. The puppy ended up being adpoted by the actor who "killed" it. Said actor really felt bad about that scene, so spent a lot of time with the pup when they weren't filming, and ended up buying it from its trainer.
Lots of people believe there is no reason or good cause for extreme violence, up-to-and-including murder. Those of us who have met and loved another, and who love their pets know better! 'Justified Chaos' sums up this movie franchise *VERY* nicely, and the humor combined with the focused mayhem just adds to it!
Jimmy and Francis are two of the smartest characters in this movie. John Wick is working again? Be polite, stay out of his way, and gratefully accept his offer to simply walk away. I also find it darkly hilarious that of everyone in Viggo's organization, it's just his own son and his son's personal cronies that have no idea who John Wick is.
5:30 - No, it wasn't 'just practice'. It was a man trying to use his hobby to dvert himself from despair, then nearly giving up and driving straight into the machine at top speed, only just holding himself back because of the dog, his only lifeline.
You were curious if the rifle that John Wick was using was an M-4. It is a Coharie Arms CA-15 which is an American clone of the Heckler & Koch HK 416. If you ever want to find out what a particular firearm is in a movie, there is a site called Internet Movie Firearms Database. It covers over 7000 movies.
And amazingly the producers manage to up the action every single sequel, which are all solid. Super rare on both levels. If you don't belive the action could go up just wait. ====== ps: Yes, the scene at the airport is Wick practicing his driving skills... but also toying with danger because of depression.
24 is the best show ever made. You are the only reactor I have ever heard mention it. NICE. New subscriber here. You will love the other 3 movies, especially 4
Each sequel gets better and makes more money. That never happens really. Awesome series. Keanu does all his own stunts except rolling down stairs. He also came up with that clip throwing thing to reload faster.
I could talk all day about the little subtle things about this movie and it’s sequel. But I’ll just point out how much coded language there is “noise complaint” means something like “this is business or something like that”, “dinner reservations” equals body cleanup… etc. Also note Marcus only said yes because the contract was “open,” he knew John would have more people after him. So he said yes to protect him.
Keanu does a side flip when he ejects the empty magazine clip and reloads. The weapons expert on the movie asked him why he does that. He told him it felt faster, and he's right. Now professional shooters copy "The John Wick movement". Pretty cool for an actor to invent a faster reload time.
Sci fi thriller UPGRADE see your fears of a.i. unlock. Great effects and story. Finally LAW ABIDING CITIZEN with Gerard Butler and Jaime Foxx keeps you guessing till the end with well known secondary cast
First time visiting. I'm hoping you asked "When did he plant those?" Those being the car bombs! I just mentioned on another reaction No one seems to ask that and some Twit tagged me saying "I over think things. It's just a movie". I quick scanned your channel and noticed 1/3 of big list was Horror! If you haven't seen it; 30 DAYS OF NIGHT is pretty good! Great Reaction!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎🎸🤟🏼
Ruby rose appears in one of the sequels. Allstate's Mayhem is featured in this movie. /// John was considering offing himself & his dog w/ that car early in the movie (depression). The movie screws up the names. "Baba Yaga is mythical "droopy boobed old lady/witch like creature" from Slavic folklore While Babayka is the mythical "Boogeyman" creature from the same Slavic folklore they describe in the movie. (Different myths, same place of origin). Check out John Wick Pitch Meeting skit (about 6-8 mins) for some humor & explanation on the subject). 300+ Pitch Meetings already. All contain heavy spoilers. (You'll see why. Just watch after you've seen the movie in question).
Love this series. Just found you with this. Will be checking out what you got and do. Big movie guy but as a over the road trucker don't get to see much
John is driving like that to vent his anger. The final head on brake at last second into the snow plows says he is wanting to die. People seem to misunderstand why John doesn't kill Yosef at the Red Circle. John kills his friend. Then takes away Yosef sense of security. Then John takes Yosef's last friend. Before John kills Yosef.
Cool fact the dog Keanu takes ay the end he adopted after the movie as was a rescue dog and yes he still has it and will be seen In all 3 further movies
Somewhat the movie could have been over very quickly if he keep the John car at his shop he knows John would come there for it just keep it til John showed up
When the girl tries to kill him the first time you thought he showed mercy sparing her life but not at all, unlike her he respected the rule not to kill on "sacred ground."
He spared her because she gave him information. He gave her a choice. He could have killed her without penalty since she attacked him. John always spares people who help him.
@@dr.burtgummerfan439 I think I understand him more then you do. She breaks the rule to kill him, he knows she will try again, she has no honor. You don't kill in that place, no exception, that's the only thing that keeps the rule relevant and the motel in business and besides, he can't prove he was self-defending, to the management this would have been 2 killers going at each other. He would have had the fate that she got. He only spare people who are not a menace to him. He happens to be also intelligent you know.
@piratecat5113 A: John gives her a choice: "Do you want to die here, Perkins? Give me something!" Perkins wouldn't talk if she didn't take John's threat seriously, so she knew he could have killed her. John spared Francis, the "Priest" and Viggo (at first) because they gave him help or information, same reason he spared Perkins. B: Charon inquired of John needed a dinner reservation after John told him he had an uninvited guest. John answered that he'd let him know. Charon wouldn't offer hotel services if he thought John had violated hotel rules. C: Harry was surprised at John's decision to catch and release instead of killing Perkins. D: It's illogical to the point of abject asininity to suggest that hotel rules mandate a non-lethal defense against a lethal attack by a trained assassin. E: Perkins attacked John in the course of conducting business, had John killed Perkins, it would have been in the course of simple self-defense. Remember, Harry told Perkins that she violated the rules by merely ATTEMPTING to kill John. There is additional evidence that John could have killed her without consequence, but that would involve spoilers from future movies, so I won't go into that.
@@dr.burtgummerfan439 Alright, he made a deal but It wasn't mercy simply because he has none, he has honor but can blow out anybody's brain with no second thought. How many people would you kill to avenge a puppy? He lost his last friend in the process. I haven't seen the sequels yet but it makes no sense to me that the motel would allow exceptions, the place would self destroy given the nature of its clients.
I’m with you. The son who started all this was taken out way too quick and easy. He deserved to hear a mean one-liner as he was terminated, or a longer type of punishment, or something. The random goon in the club who was taken out while John stared in his eyes as the music played, received a more personal ⚰️🪦💀. That would have been better for the son. That’s a flaw to me with this movie that irks me.
Have 3 suggestions. Classic Love story 1952 THE QUIET MAN with John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara and the movie was filmed on location in Ireland. Action humor and love.
If only Vigo apologize infirst phone call could have ended different. Then have to ask if John went ballistic over his dog and car ......what was going to happen killing his mentor and best friend

Let's be honest, if it wasn't for the dog there wouldn't have been any sequels.
Define "irony" 😂 That was perfect.

Willem Defoe, it's funny to watch young people now say "omg he's in Spiderman" when I was like "omg he's in Platoon".

Having the antagonists kill the puppy was narrative GENIUS. It puts you 100% on the side of the protagonist, no matter how brutal his actions.

It was an H&K 416. Similar to an M4. Barrel lengths can vary among any rifle. This one appears to have a 10.5” barrel.

Nice work, Kid!
Jimmy doesn't want to be part of yet another statistics lol
John was using the G36. The bulletproof vest was top of the line 6 yrs before, since john was a out of the business for 5 1/2 yrs
Ruby Rose is in the second one.
Not a M4. Its a HK 416 SBR varient.
Your edit skipped the best line. “How’s your laundry?” “I’m sorry to say, no one is that good.” “I thought not. “
After you finish the wick series you should check out the Boondock Saints
You mentioned '24' , I think you'd maybe like 'Person of Interest'.
William Dafoe is John guardian angel
Alfie Allen play a great character in JoJo Rabbit.

Also neat they have kill count videos on each of them if interested
Have 3 suggestions. Classic Love story 1952 THE QUIET MAN with John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara and the movie was filmed on location in Ireland. Action humor and love.

Woooo
John Wick is a killer not, a torturer. He does what he knows. Leaves the torturing to others which is why he killed Yosef quickly with a headshot.
Sure I wrote this somewhere before, but officer Jimmy doesn't want to do the paperwork when he knows assassins will clean-up their messes. (Cleaners)
When Francis tells John about the 6o kilos it was code for 60 bodyguard inside that why he let him live since he knew him and helped him
It was 27 kilos, not 60. It was translated to 60 pounds for English speaking audiences.
I like this movie but O can't watch the dog scene, kinds crazy that of all the things dying in thisovie the dog is the only one I care about
