- In September, O, The Oprah Magazine invited 30 high school girls to the Hearst Tower in New York City, to give us their feedback on a video interview between Oprah and Michelle Obama for election season. They had no idea that the interview was streaming live-just a few floors above them, and that they were in for a very special surprise.

Solange's teacher who gave her a zero for having a vocabulary should quit and find immediately another profession.
I was wondering why nobody was commenting about this. It jumped out like a dagger to me.
I had a similar experience where my English teacher didn't believe I wrote an essay because of the vocabulary and grammar.
She turned it over to my principal and got my parents involved. It was a big thing.
My mama cussed them out to the point of tears and threatened to get the school board involved.
Should be FIRED.
One didn't give me my grades and scold me for not citing..even though I explain it was from the class reading we were doing..I think some teachers goes over the limit

I cried with the girls when they saw her walk into the room. What a beautiful and gracious 1st Lady she was. So classy and a great role model to those young ladies.

What a truly wonderful experience for these young ladies. I know someone in the comment section will say 'why were there only black and brown girls invited?' It can't be denied that American society doesn't always value and care for kids of color, while white kids always have the benefit of their inherent privilege, so it is so important for our black and brown kids to have these experiences with roll models who are specifically looking out for THEM. That said, Obama and Oprah have done a lot of good for all kinds of people, not just minorities. I'm just pointing out that our black and brown kids deserve better than America have given them and these wonderful roll models are showing them that they matter as much as anyone else in America, which is a message they don't always get form the institutions that should be encouraging them.

Oprah did this💯💯 I grew up on ABC soaps and she was @ 4 (after Donahue stopped). She started with saying that, despite what she does, it’s not about the value of what you’re giving. It FEELS BEAUTIFUL TO DO FOR SOMEONE BESIDES YOU (I was watching that big car episode. She didn’t sleep the night before!)❤️ She gave everyone $1k and told them to do good and document it and there was an episode saying what people did if it wasn’t all in that one episode. Seriously just take this in. Look at these amazing women, all of them in this video not just Oprah and Michelle Obama, but Gayle King and the wonderful women working at O. What incredible role models for these girls and how special it was for Oprah and Michelle Obama to create this moment for them that they will be inspired by and remember for the rest of their life AND, perhaps most importantly, the empowerment that they saw will inspire them to see themselves in these roles in their own futures. I'm listening to Becoming on Audible and as good as the book is, to hear it told in Michelle Obama's own words and voice is even more inspiring. Thank you Oprah and Michelle Obama for empowering young girls and all of us.
