Hey Jake, I'm thinking of trying the car life for a bit and checking out CA. I'm In Oklahoma but from TX and I've got almost 20 years sobriety from alcohol, cocaine, meth, MDMA. If I'm out that way maybe we could grab a coffee. Much love and thanks for all the cool videos.
You are amazing. I wish my son who is an addict would have had your attitude. He is back in jail. I can not even tell how it hurts as a mom. I am so proud of you Jake.
I love Santa Barbara. My girl is a travel nurse and we lived out there for three months, right behind the vons shopping center. Had a nice view of the ocean. Also we slept in our car 1 night before moving out there to check it out. We slept in a parking lot by the college. Address was 5905 sandpit Rd in Goleta. It was nice with bathroom and restraint. Also down state st a place called sandbar is cool restaurant and institution brewery is cool.
If all 39K subs would donate $1 we could get Jake a new car. I wish we could figure that out. A new car would be a game changer. Love the B Roll at the start. So many places I have been there. Love it.
@Meek Dub Because people deserve a second chance and the guy has been clean for a few years and he’s doing the best he can. He’s working hard to make great content and is working hard to help himself and others. I don’t know anybody that’s perfect.
His car is perfect. A trunk is the best. Other total stealth city nomads have small SUVs, but a roomy car with a trunk hides belongings much better. Really, his car is great and he uses it for an income. No charity or pity needed.
I promise you You CANNOT GO WRONG with a 2008 Toyota Corolla ! 4 cylinder specifically! I’ve been living in line for about a year I have 230,000 on the odometer and it still runs like new
Super helpful video, Jake, thank you! I like to sleep at the local hospital, nobody thinks twice about seeing somebody asleep in their car in a hospital parking lot and no cop knocks.
You are hilarious and I love that you are so informative. I'm considering moving into my car. I have an opportunity to purchase a van but the more videos I watch of people living in their cars the more I want to do it. I already own my car so it would make sense but I'm also going to be 50 soon and I'm sure how my body would handle sleeping in a car. Love your channel!
Hey Jake I added another comment and also have another thing to add. First off congrats on your recovery thus far. I too am a recovering addict (Opiates) who delivers gig apps while in recovery. I'm actually from near that area. Your best bet is to aim for delivery 20 minutes south of SB, between Ventura and Camarillo, just that stretch along the 101. Stay close to the freeway when looking for orders, as that's where all the stores are. Yes, there will be wait times, but you should only average like 4-5 minutes wait per order during peak hours at max. It's not as busy as LA, but there's bigger tips since there's more family orders out here. So it can be really good actually. Sometimes weekend day shifts are a little slow, as I imagine ppl are out to the beach and what not. But not always. Dinner's are always good. When in doubt, park near a chipotle. That's my go to for finding orders. If this area doesn't work out for you, I know another area that's great for delivery, but it's a secret. It's my stomping grounds so I can't let ppl know about gig work here lmaoo. But if Ventura-Camarillo doesn't work, message me and I'll let you know.
i am from Santa Barbara and its definitely one of the safest towns to live out of your car be careful doing this in other cities stay safe......the weather been horrible lately it's usually bright sunny out 74 F. most days.
I feel like the best thing we can do as viewers is to *continue* *watching* !!! Jake makes money from ads and watching his videos (or buying his merch) is the best way to support him. That way there are no hand-outs (and his conscious stays clear). So fellow viewers start a watch party, don't skip ads, and rewatch his videos.
A big tip from somebody who lived in Isla Vista a lot of the restaurant delivery drivers will use bikes because of how close all the houses and apts are from each other. Like IV Market. And once again great video I had some of my best years living in both Isla Vista then Downtown Santa Barbara.

My current daily driver is a 2015 Mazda 5 mini-mini van. Bigger than let's say a Toyota Matrix/Pontiac Vibe, smaller than a Dodge Caravan, Toyota Sienna , Honda Odyssey. What I like about the Mazda 5 is the small yet utilitarian aspect. Compact 6 seater. Very decent gas mileage. Machinations are to gut out the rear and turn it into boon docking survival pod. If I had no choice but to live in a vehicle, what I have currently could potentially be a suitable candidate. Can be parked anywhere while living/sleeping in it covertly.
Boathouse is outrageous but so good. I have a Boathouse Hoodie Sweatshirt and my dog loves Hendrys Beach. Norton's is my best friends favorite. I think I need to film a food Vlog there. Thanks for the tips.
I enjoyed the video. I agree with a lot of the commenters that you should do a GoFundMe for a new car. I understand you wanting to do it on your own. But no one is forced to donate. Everyone who donates will be doing so because they want to continue seeing content. We pay for Netflix in order to have access to content. This would be the same thing. 🙂

Nice job on the video, Jake. I like the way you do things your way; it shows originality and character. Most people who have seen these types of videos think they have to have a lot more stuff, you know, like window covers, fridges and stoves. A big cargo space for a bed.... and cabinets, cookery, closets, dogs, cats.... a pretty model girlfriend to follow around and film her butt! And out on BLM land somewhere, which is also nice, much of that is necessary. Especially the model. You pay more for food, maybe. But a mostly veggie diet doesn't have to be terribly expensive, either. Keep on truckin'.... as Mav (on YT) would say, and doing it your way as Frank sang. Many blessings!!
