This happened to me. I'm so confused. The way they handled it just feels disrespectful to students that worked to meet such an early deadline. They knew three months ago exactly how many EA applicants they would need to review. If there was an issue, we should've heard something then. Feels really unprofessional in my opinion, and doesn't reflect well on them.

It definitely feels like they don’t even care about us. Not thrilling when you have a private school admitting you when they said they would and sending handwritten letters

Thank you for taking the screen shot, they have changed the verbiage now. It is not fair asking students to submit SAT by end of October and not allowing later dates. Where as RD could take in NOV. A month and half more for writing the statement of purpose. Kids prioritized UT over other schools to meet EA deadline and missed applying to schools elsewhere. Parents have to deal with emotionally disturbed children now.

Like every other school UT Austin has stated that applying Early Action does not offer an advantage in the review process.
Apparently, they've also put out the following statement:
"We successfully completed a round of approximately 5,000 freshmen admission offers yesterday. Most of these students met the Early Action deadline, and this group represents about 25% to 30% of our total expected admission offers. Importantly, no student received a negative decision yesterday. Those who met the Early Action deadline but were not admitted received a notification that their final decision will be delivered on February 15"
UT Austin did exactly what they said they would do.

Early Action is supposed to show initiative, choice, and layout the order of prioritized applications. What UT Austin did was crummy.

I’m hoping see someone get fired. I have twins. One got in and one got the delayed message which has now been changed to deferred. Glad we screenshot the message from yesterday

You hope someone gets fired? Pretty harsh. They had 90,000 applications. Hopefully both your twins get in but you know that it makes no difference that they are twins.

Hang in there everyone! Last year we found out on Feb 1 for McComb and same for 2023 for Cockrell Engineering. They had 72k applicants for 2024 and 90k for this class.

Hey College Meister, I recently saw an email from a post on reddit claiming 30% of students were already admitted. This seems shockingly high, as no one got rejected, ultimately decreasing the odds significantly for the rest of the pool. Do you think this is true? Also this is unfair for applicants who chose to sacrifice November/December SAT scores in hopes for an easier decisions who instead are treated like the RD pool who had more time to develop their application.

UT Austin has in fact revealed today that it has so far admitted approximately 5,000 students and that MOST of these met the Early Action deadline. This group of approximately 5,000 represents 25% to 30% of UT Austin's total expected freshmen admissions offers for the 2024-2025 admissions cycle. So far there have been no rejections. Those who met the Early Action deadline and have not received a decision are now expected to receive a decision on February 15, 2025. There may be limited admissions decision releases for smaller majors or for automatic admit-eligible students applying to specific majors between now and February 15.

Definitely overrated. Not worth the effort they demand from an applicant.
