The one thing that I do not get about people theorizing about aliens is that they always assume that they need water, air, and a suitable atmosphere, like we do. That is just the things that we need on Earth, if there was a being from another planet, wouldn't they have different needs? 👽👽
We have no reason to believe they dont need those things theres a lot of science into why they likely would and its complex but sure it's possible they dont need one or possibly more of those things

How would aliens even get here is my question. They would have to be advanced enough to either have sub-light drives or have found a way to master space and time (wormholes). Going the speed of light or faster is impossible unless of course our own mathematics are completely wrong which of no doubt some of it is but still, that's my biggest question against aliens and UFOs. Even if they could travel at light speed, it would take thousands up to millions of years to reach Earth, granted they would age slower and would either have to have advanced hibernation technology or be repopulating during the journey and still have the resources to make such a long journey. And how would they even know about earth. Without sending a probe, getting a clear picture from the home planet that would suggest having the resources needed would be minuscule.
Well Jon, I don't know much, including if you're still using this account 7 years later, but my thought has always been: What are the chances we have all the known material in the universe?!? I always assumed that there is a metal or element on the periodic table that we've never heard of before. I assume there are planets with intelligent life that has access to these materials. I also assume there is a material that allows for some janky ass physics we know nothing about that would revolutionize everything we know about the laws of physics. Where am I going with this you ask? I don't know! I guess anything is possible is where I was going?
@@colinhoag703 Yeah I'm still around ha. The big unknown is dark matter and dark energy which we know scarily little about. I still think its very unlikely aliens would find or spend the resources to travel here. Hope there is a way to do FTL but physics aren't on the side of traditional methods.

I miss the old show! Although I am very happy for their continuing success as "internetainers", I am saddened because the show grows farther and farther away from what made me love it. I for one believe in aliens, intelligent or not so much, either way. I believe that with a universe this massive, it's pretty impossible that we're alone in it.
What most people fail to understand is how incredibly unlikely it was for organic life to develop in the first place. The chances that life has developed in the same way on other earth-like planets are infinitesimally small.

Considering Earth is a fairly young planet and Humans a relatively short time. It's somewhat ridiculous to believe there is no more advanced species in the universe. There are literally infinite chances in the expanding universe. Maybe a species is just born smart as all hell.

Yes that may be true, but what if they had been studying us for a while. They'd see what humans are like, it's human nature to destroy no matter how peaceful everything is, there will always be people (lot's of people) that want to destroy. Aliens would properly ignore us, leaving us to destroy ourselves.But on the other hand they might try to get us to be peaceful to each other, which if they were that advanced is properly what they would do.

I just watched this in 2023, and the quality of the comedy in the early years of GMM was SO MUCH higher than it is now... This was brilliant, so enjoyable to watch, these days they're just doing taste tests, it's nowhere near as funny, witty, and interesting.

Tony Piearce The fact they probably have a planet destroyer on hand does not look good. Seriously, it's basically the equivalent of being taken hostage by gunpoint. Chances are, we have no choice but to surrender before the start even began...Plus, they'll create some kind of reproductive suppression field to keep us at our knees once they get our anatomy. If we can't reproduce, then we can't keep up with a war. And to make things more worse, the human race is probably outnumbered 16 to 1, since the extraterrestrials may have colonised other planets and have a significantly larger population. Truly, we are screwed.

did I just hear this correctly?, "if they have far more advanced technology then us, then we are doomed?" OK now i have a little thing to say. in our history we have beaten the odds many of times. but when it comes to technology, its not what you have but how you use it. the Native Americans beat back the Vikings and they were more technology advanced by around 500 years and that's in the day of swords and bows. but now, i feel that no matter what would come for us we could push them back. the USA and Russia (former USSR) has close to 10,000 nuclear missiles, and each missile carry close to 1-8 war heads. that there is enough to blow up close to 1/5th of the moon. my point is, us as a species are more smart then what we think, and that even if other life comes and they are hostile, they wont fully understand how we humans think and feel and adapt to certain circumstances.
Here's the thing though. If they are as advanced as we think they are, they'll probably be able to adapt like us.

What if we're the most advanced intelligent life in this galaxy thus far? Like if there is intelligent life elsewhere (which I'm sure there is) I would assume they would be less advanced than us, otherwise they would've come by now, yeah? There's probably some alien race out there right now, stuck in the equivalent of our Middle Ages, or maybe they might be at our same level of technology and are wondering the same thing "what will aliens do when they come?"

There is no way we are the most advanced.
I think we are a lot closer to interstellar travel than we think. We have tanks that propel and repel projectiles with EM forces. I think that very soon, we will be able to propel space craft with reversed gravity or other forces.
Our solar system is relatively young compared to other parts of the galaxy, that is not to say that there isn't other planets with life below or level of evolution or at the same level, but the possibility of the other planets being more advanced is more likely simply because of age.

Theory that we are the aliens. Earth and it's other creatures are so different than us. Ancient astronaut theory is pretty remarkable. Just look at the tera forming theory of Mars....what if that is what happened to earth all those years ago...there is proof that earth and Mars used to be flipped in terms of life....just a theory for now I assume until the day we advance further into the cosmos.

Think about how long it took the earth to form and develop life. I doubt that any other planet has life too far advanced than us.
Interesting point. My counter to it is look how mankind has developed just in the past 100yrs. 100 yrs ago we barely had motorized vehicles, No tv, no internet, no nukes, we had barely discovered flight, the fastest for of communication was radio and morse code... Aliens wouldnt have to be thousands or millions of years ahead of us to outclass us... just a few 100. And in terms of the universe a few 100 yrs is nothing.
There are so many factors that go into it. Think about it: an at least somewhat sophisticated life force would have to have gone through its own evolutionary and social history, which means things like religion, communication, war, environment, and such could hold it back. Think how long it took us to industrialize! Another species could take much longer than we did, but then again could advance much quicker.

This is annoying. People try to use this excuse all the time. Earth has not been here since the start of time. And other planets are FAR older, so life could have started developing millions, even billions of years before earth was even in existence.

1. If aliens had the capability to come here, it would be at tremendous expense. So it is reasonable to assume that the reason would be exceptionally important. After all, once the journey is done (one way) it is possible that their race will no longer exist if they were to attempt to return.
2. Since their race might not exist at the conclusion of such a journey, it would make sense for this trip to have a great number of these beings.
3. What do you think a one way trip for an entire race would mean? I highly doubt it would mean that we are to be merely observed, or befriended. It (in my opinion) is more likely that it would be a trip for conquest and the procurement of resources.

However, I like to think that if a race were capable of not only locating intelligent life on another planet (or a habitable planet) possibly thousands of light years away (or more), that their means of getting there would be more advanced than simply traveling near light speed.
I imagine they would be advanced enough that visiting other solar systems wouldn't be a great expense but merely something more like a trip to the moon for us (or mars once we get those long distance issues figured out).
Even if their method of travel was simply near light speed or even light speed, then they clearly have their energy and food supply problems solved (or else they wouldn't be able to survive a thousand year trip). I suppose there is the small chance that they're only a couple dozen light years away, but even that should imply that they have the issues that would cause a race to want/need to conquer another planet solved.

If aliens are capable of traveling these massive distances, they should have solved any problem of limited resources (like harvesting energy from stars), so i don't think they want to destroy us. (they don't have a reason to)
***** it has to be habitable enough if they can make ships faster than light. also if these ships are small as our planes then they have already mastered using resources more than efficiently(if they were really big like in independence day they would have been spotted by everyone). like so much space goes in storing fuel in rockets that we are only making it to last an exact no of days to save space but they can do it in far lower space for light years of distance

There's a scifi episode called "To Serve Mankind" where the aliens appear friendly and offer to cure sickness, starvation, etc. would "serve mankind". People are welcome to visit their planet. A book the aliens gave to the humans couldn't be translated immediately because it was in the alien's language. Near the end, the hero translates the book and the book is called "To Serve Mankind" and is a recipe book. The hero gets shoved onto a spaceship and at the end is in a room where the aliens are trying to fatten him up to be eaten and he knows the only hope of survival is to refuse to eat.

Why would they visit earth? I mean, if you have the tech to go interstellar. You also probably have the tech to just aim your alien camera or something and just look what resources the planet has. Why visit a planet that has relativly smart ( extremly primitive compared to your alien awesomeness ) life and can maybe MAYBE cause some problems if you arent welcome? Dunno. I dont think it would happen but just my opinion!

But there can be several reasons why they haven't advanced in efficiency. They could be a warmonging people who are fighting with each other all the time and their focus is on weapons and not anything else, or maybe they just aren't smart enough to develop solar power, or maybe their government restricts scientific development.
