Titanic Survivor Claims an Iceberg Didn't Destroy the Ship

- Have you ever met a person who hasn’t ever heard the story of Titanic? Unlikely. Even if you ask a 10-year-old, they’ll tell you exactly what took down the gigantic ship. However, some survivors of the sinking legend would beg to differ. Here’s one of their stories, and it has nothing to do with an iceberg.
Armenian publicist Vaghinak Byurat was 25 years old in the spring of 1912. He described what happened on his journey to America on the most famous ship in the world in his memoirs. He’s never mentioned an iceberg hitting the Titanic, and always spoke about an explosion. And if what he said was true, something must have caused that huge explosion...
💥 Btw, guys, there is a cat hidden in this video. If you can spot our furry little guy, you're much more attentive than most people! Do you accept the challenge? 😽

SUMMARY:
- Armenian publicist Vaghinak Byurat was 25 years old in the spring of 1912. He described what happened on his journey to America on the most famous ship in the world in his memoirs.
- In 1912, Vaghinak published some books together with his father, a famous Armenian writer. His task was to take the books to America.
- They went to bed rather late on April 14, just like on the other nights. Shortly after midnight, something that sounded like a big explosion woke everyone up.
- None of the crew members wanted to say anything, but a few minutes later it was impossible to deny that the Titanic was going underwater.
- Vaghinak put his passport and money in a little bag and tied it around his neck. The Titanic’s bow was already underwater by that time. A lot of people in this situation wouldn’t have dared to take it to the open water.
- The water in the North Atlantic that night was just below freezing, at a scary 28 degrees Fahrenheit (-2 C). The young writer felt his arms and legs go numb, and he was understandably getting weaker and weaker every second.
- Then, he bumped into something. It was a lifeboat! But it was so overcrowded they pushed the young man with a paddle when he tried to stick to the boat.
- Vaghinak woke up alive on board another ship. That ship was the Carpathia, and it was en route to New York with lucky survivors on board.
- 12 days later, a woman came into the room. She turned out to be the person who saved Vaghinak. Missis Astor told the sailors that the young man was her son, and she wouldn’t let them go without him since she’d already lost her husband on the Titanic.
- Vaghinak lived a long and happy life and, as a great storyteller, he shared what happened to him many times. Interestingly, he’s never mentioned an iceberg hitting the Titanic, and always spoke about an explosion.
- It could have been a fire, and quite a lot of people actually believe that theory, saying that coal was burning in the ship’s hull.
- Another theory that explained the explosion claimed that there was a German U-boat involved in the sinking of Titanic.

Amazing. People who were sleeping during the impact said it wasn’t an iceberg. Astounding testimony.
But we know it was an iceberg. The lookouts and Officers saw it.
An iceberg impact would have sounded like an explosion in the third class area
Not just sleeping but sleeping inside, surrounded by steel... My wife and I used to live in an apartment facing the street. One night we were awoken by a horrific sound. My wife woken up screaming because she thought someone surely died, it was that loud... What was it? A shopping cart, filled with glass smashed and covering half the block during a hit and run (thankfully the homeless man pushing it was uninjured)... Point of the story is this, a loud, traumatic, explosive sound doesn't always mean it came from an explosion. Your brain simply appoints a label as it tries to comprehend what it is experiencing.
First off ice bergs do not exist the ship was blown up by the men that wanted the forming of the federal reserve because 500 men that didn't want the federal reserve were suckered on board and they died and 6 months later the federal reserve was formed
thats true you cant say that you seen something when you just was a sleep
I am so tired of channels posting misleading or outright false titles to try to garner views. The man in this video did not claim that an iceberg did not damage the ship.

Wow ... i am just amazed at his survival story. What a lucky man!
There is only one report of an explosion during the entire sinking of the RMS Titanic. Many survivors stated they saw sparks shooting from the funnel while it collapsed.
Yes, there was a coal fire. Now, did this weaken Titanic's hull? Possibly, but it wouldn't even be noticeable in most circumstances, especially due to it being in a coal
bunker, which in itself is a small part of a water tight compartment that ranged from 50-60 feet on average. Titanic was a well built ship for its time and wouldn’t have failed that easily from a coal fire, which were also extremely common at the time. Also, the man you mentioned that never stated it was an iceberg never stepped foot in the Titanic. Plus, no way it was a U boat. No U boats could make it that far into the Atlantic in 1912. And for the sake for argument, if it was a U boat, for the Titanic to
founder, it would have had to cause at bare minimum 5 of the most forward or aft, or 4 central compartments to be compromised for her to founder. Titanic hit an iceberg. Her first 6 watertight compartments were opened to the sea. The crew fought hard in attempt to over come the sea, but the Titanic would eventually sink after 2 hours and 40 minutes, due to an iceberg as stated by survivor accounts and visible damage on the wreak.
Please be aware that sensible comments such as yours are not required by many of the people who 'contribute' to this site!
That explosion most likely came just before the Titanic broke in two, and the main steam lines ruptured from being pulled apart. They had 3-4 boilers going to keep the lights and pumps going right up until at least 2:05am.
Thank you for that reply!
Here is a problem about this Story, Number 1.
Vaghinak Byurat, he was "never" on the Titanic, there is no proof that he was onboard.
Number 2. His Friend Moren didn't Exist, that Photo was a Titanic survivor. He was British not French. Number 3 the Third class sleeping room named Cabin 804 didn't Exist.
Bright side Lies to you‼️
it was built with iron which they knew at that time was less strong then other things so it was said to be a well built ship but it wasn't the white star line wanted to save money.

Cody
they sacrificed themselves because they believed they wouldn’t make it only because the lifeboat numbers were low, but regardless I’m pretty sure the majority would want to survive especially if they had more lifeboats soooooo 😂
Tell that to jack
@@seth5265 LoL true
Never thought about it, before. Thank you.
There is the other argument that the hull was due to be plated with steel rivets, but to save money they used iron rivets which were impure with cavities in them and brittle. When the ship struck the iceberg it just peeled off the rivets whereas steel rivets would have been a lot stronger limiting the amount of hull damage. The interior watertight compartments were due to go from floor to ceiling this again was cut back on with many finishing below the next floor level allowing water to flood from one compartment to the next.
What sunk the Titanic no one can honestly say, but the theory of the coal sounds the most accurate as wet coal was loaded onto the Titanic.
The killer was the lack of lifeboats, again removed as they compromised the aesthetics of the liner, and the arrogance of the white star line board who save money on the ships construction and took the decision to remove lifeboats.
The moral of the story?
Don’t call a ship “Unsinkable”

But he was an Irish-American who had traveled back, with his sister, to collect their inheritance.
When they were jolted awake, he went to gather information, came back to tell her they had struck an iceberg, and he got her up to the deck, where she was put on a lifeboat and survived.
It wasn't even well written.
I've heard more than once. Yes an Ice berg hit the ship. BUT when the ice cold water hit the steam room, it was that that was the explosion people heard.

Since the chief steward of the liner Prinz Adalbert photographed an iceberg on the morning of April 15th a few miles south of Titanic's location with red paint transfer near the waterline we know *something* big hit that iceberg within the last 12 hours..
Whether it was the sole reason Titanic sank or not, it definitely *hit* that iceberg.
There *was* a fire too. So it might have been a combination of factors (and why it might have came apart as it did..)
None of these theories actually exclude the other ones..
Oddly, a book called "Wreck of the Titan" was written and published in 1898. It eerily told the events that happened on the Titanic years later!
I don't understand all of this, but apparently, one of the crew left with the only pair of binoculars so that the watchman didn't have them to help spot the iceberg!

Yes it's true
Yeh but I think you would drown
there was a coal fire on the titanic at some point but they put it out and moved all the coal to the port side which caused a 3 degree list to the port side then when the titanic hit the iceberg, the ship listed a little bit to the starboard side then because there were port holes open which caused severe flooding on the port side, and because of that it started listing to the port side again at a 9 degree list. the ship would have capsized due to the water flooding in the ship on the starboard side, but since there was that 3 degree list it kept the ship steady enough to not capsize.
The other story is that it was an insurance scam and the ship on stand by was meant to rescue the passengers but they went off course due to the weather and night sky glaring on the ocean made it difficult to see

Maybe when the Titanic hit the iceberg the hull was breached near the boiler room underneath and the massive rush of water caused an explosion from a large amount of steam flashing instantaneously causing a explosion which would not only shake the entire ship but would also create a chain reaction compromising the structural integrity of the hull leading to its sinking.

I find most funny that for "german U-boat" - pretty small ships at that time period - they used mock-up of Akula/Typhoon class nuclear sub, largest monster of its kind to this days (actually its not much smaller than Titanic itself in terms of lenght and beam). And for torpedo something that looks like Sparrow missile... Oh - and dark mark on the hull from coal fire taken during time when there was no coal onboard ship :D
The dark smudge had nothing to do with the fire. The fire was below the waterline, thus not visible on photographs.
I LOVE UR VIDS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH
I find it highly suspicious that JP Morgan invited many of his rivals along for the the trip then last minute canceled himself. How convenient for him business wise.
Flight 370, Chinese scientists and employees of Freescale co, were on board. approved days after the disappearance of the MH370, and the right to the patent was split five ways - 20% to Freescale Semiconductor and 20% each to four employees, all of whom were passengers on the plane. Jacob Rothchild is now the sole owner of this patent.
There's probably a WHOLE LOT OF TRUTH to your hypotheses Sir :-)
It has been widely reported that he canceled for health reasons which I tend to believe as he died less than a year after. Also he had a gnarly nasty skin disorder as a result of him having rosacea. His nose grew large and bulbous and discolored and covered in keloids. He was very self conscious about it and spent the last year of his life in virtual seclusion only allowing close friends and family to ever see him.
Dont mess with rothschild's.
In addition he refused to be photographed looking like that but there are at least two images of him where he failed to see the camera in time to turn away.

I wondered the same thing so I Googled the passenger list of the Titanic, curiously nobody named Moren appeared on the list. However there was a fellow named Moen age 27 travelling 3rd class, allowing for a spelling error this could be the chappy. Mr Moen did not survive the disaster his being recorded as 309th body recovered.
Ya what happened to the other guy
One of the likely reasons for the sinking, was that Harland And Wolfe were supposed to use the most expensive Best Best Rivets, or No. 1. Rivets. They built the Titanic with the cheaper No. 2, or Best Rivets.
I am not sure if this would have made much of a difference, as the No.2 Rivets are stronger along the length, but weaker aat the ends. The No. 1 Rivets are the normal strength throughout the Rivet apparently.
It has been agreed that the hole was caused by the Rivets falling, but I think that there are a number of different factors, which on their own, would not make a difference, but all together, have helped cause the ship to sink.
The dark mark that you were showing in the video, was when the Titanic was on the slipway, in Belfast. You can tell that, because of the gantries around the hull, it is unlikely that any coal would be inside the ship at that stage. It was believed that there was a fire in a coal bunker, when the inspection by the board of trade was being carried out, but they had put the fire out, before the ship sank.
Olympic was built from the same materials, and was a successful liner until the mid 1930s.
The steel of that time more than likely couldn’t handle those temps and became brittle. With the brittleness of the steel taking an impact even a slightly glancing one could have cracked the steel. The iron rivers were also found to be of inferior quality and were at max stress/strength levels before impact.
With those two factors investigated and researched it’s quite easy to come to the conclusion. that poor quality materials combined with an impact against something as solid as a glacial hard iceberg and poor timing/bad luck is what sank the titanic
Odd, then, that Olympic was a successful ocean liner until 1934, don't you think? Why was her steel impervious to the temperature?
Q: What did one iceberg say to the other iceberg?
A: "I'd hit that"
Tak
. ......
@Pebbles ajpw stop
Well it did hit that so..😂
*cough*
Also, I've read the Titanic sister ship, the Olympic, was a actually the one that was used because it had already been damaged and couldn't be insured so it would have been a huge list financially. Both being identical, the names on the two were switched in secret. A win-win for the White Star Line.
BRO GROW UP THE TITANIC AND OLYMPIC WERE NEVER SWITCHED STOP BELIVING EVERYTHING YOU HEAR
Olympic and Titanic were not identical.
That theory has been debunked countless times
@@cattanic494 Where?
That's the one I heard to and it's the most believable one.
I was inclined to believe the coal fire idea, but it's pretty much been refuted as a common occurrence and not a factor. It's more likely they mistook the impact of the iceberg as an explosion based on how close they would've been to where the ship hit the iceberg. Some didn't even feel much of anything and I think this guy just doesn't remember as much as he thinks. Memories get distorted over time after all.

So basically, the survivor didn't actually make this claim, and you just got my ad money.
@Bozocow: Try AdBlock Plus for FireFox, and have a sneek peek at the Pi-Hole project! That steals the money from pesky ad spreaders, too!
Bozocow thanks for the heads up I’m out !!!!!
thanks matte
*sigh* clickbait
If you skip all the way at the end and restart it there is no ads
He just didn't see the ice berg, it was pitch black and panic on the sea. Obviously. A hit from an iceberg could sound like an explosion for people not being able to distinguish the sound through the hull.
If u can see in the 9:21 time map u can see the place where the red mark gone to was in the triangle its the place where millons of ships, helicopter, and even boat have been lost!

this is the most crazy information on the Titanic but who am i to dispute this !!!!!!!!
It would not surprise me if a huge ocean liner hitting a an iceberg at high speeds felt and sounded like an explosion.

My family has disaster birthdays lol: Dad was born on the Dec 7 (Pearl Harbor) my Mom was born on the day the Challenger exploded, I was born on the day the Titanic set sail April 10th. And Grandma was born on Sep 11
September 11 was 9 11 and in 911. 4 planes attacked the u.s.a and one. Hit the pentagon the second one hit camp David which is the escape for the, president when something happens and the there plane hit the left twin tower ate 9:08 am then the fourth one hit the right twin tower at like 9:57 am. And then it took the city around 4 months to 3 years

My Birthday is April 14th and i have always had a very huge pull to the titanic story

THE TITANIC HIT AN ICEBERG IN APRIL 1912 AND OVER 1300 PEOPLE WHO WERE ON THE TITANIC DROWNED IN THE FREEZING WATER IN THE PACIFIC OCEAN AND THERE WERE NOT ENOUGH OF THE LIFE BOATS TO SAVE ALL OF THE PEOPLE WHO WERE ON THE TITANIC AND THE BAND MEMBERS THAT WERE PLAYING MUSIC WENT DOWN WITH THE TITANIC AND CAPTAIN SMITH WAS ON THE TITANIC DROWNED WHEN THE TITANIC WAS SINKING AND it's VERY SAD TO THINK THAT THIS HAPPENED OVER ONE HUNDRED YEARS AGO 😔

I think that it was a combination of an explosion followed by the hitting of the iceberg!
An explosion would have caused a hole but there was a large “cut”
There was no picture taken of the ship when it' was scratched but survivers might of said it was sratched but it would be hard to see it because it was deep in the water.
@@monta_ghost7479 there are ways to take pictures of the ship under water and they show the tear from iceberg.
