They added self-righting to their new Spartan SR found here: bit.ly/4aezEBX The popular Spartan Deep-V boat has gone through some revisions and it’s major update is a self-righting feature. Been watching your videos for a while, and I love them. It was one of the channels that got me into RC. as for the water in the boat at the end of the video, I just put a hot racing cooling jacket on my Spartan, and I no longer get any water in it whatsoever. I did a test on my cooling system as well and it seemed like when I put the new cooling jacket on, the water buildup inside the boat went almost completely away. Thanks again for always posting awesome videos.
I haven't ran boats in a while. It's about that time of year again and this is one cool release with the self righting that is what I look for in a rc boat. Nice review as always brotha!

Day 2 looked much better! Glad they fixed the canopy issues and the self-righting is always a plus. I'm wondering how the composite strut mount will take it if the holding screws are really cranked down to hold your strut position. Wish that mount was aluminum. I can handle the composite rudder mount but not sure on the strut mount being composite. Put a few ounces of water in the boat and hold it nose up in the air and check for leaks around the transom hardware mounting screws. Lots of leaks in that area on boats. You'll have to seal around them with silicone if they leak. Several years ago another self-righting boat I ran across was leaking water in the boat from the flood chamber. Might have to tape one end of the chamber up and fill it up with water and check for leaks too if you can't find it anywhere else. Nice video and rundown as always.

It comes with wing nut replacements that you can put on. That way you don't have to use the tool...
It makes it look worse though.

After watching your video, I called my local hobby shop, put my pre-order in,
All Traxxas boats seem to leak water on their tops,
so I just run some painters tape around the tops and that seems to work pretty good,

I'm actually shocked that it's priced accordingly, and not overpriced like so many of there products. Nice boat, 6s and the price isn't too deep. It's a winner in my book.
What you expect, its all cheap plastic lol, they even went cheap on the props. Tells you all you need to know.
Well Traxxas cost themselves my money. Was only interested in a self righting boat and went out last month and bought the Pro Boat Sonicwake. Which is awesome btw!

This boat looks very nice
That water was likely from the cooling jacket. My old Spartan always leaked from there. My dad and I installed water pumps with the RC Boat Bitz parts we put on it and we kept the old cooling jacket and it would always have a slow leak in it like the water would just keep dripping out from underneath the cooling jacket. Other than that it looks night and day better than the old boat from the layout to the reliability. The old clip on module it had couldn’t take a hit and when it did it would always pull the coupler off the motor shaft

I believe it is a plastic prop to protect the drive shaft if you hit something in the water the blade will shear off, as on a real boat you have shear pins and shock bushings on props to protect your out drive and prop from damage in case of a strike in the water.

How do you get your boat back if it runs out of battery in the water?
I have the old version and the esc cuts out at near full throttle even when it dosent my race mono blows its doors off and I run it on 4s and the spartan on 6s
Try some SMC packs and see if you get that 50mph.
More then 55mph with smc batterys or onyx batterys and different prop

Awesome, looks alot more balanced considering the SR usually plays with the CG. Not too sure about the hardware though looks a bit financially challenged 😊
The boat is awesome but Traxxas came out with the new boat trailer so i bought 2 and going to merge them into a single OTR transport trailer fitted with working stereo and video equipment ❤️ trailers are quickly gaining traction and getting lots of attention as the scale market is getting back to full swing.
Awesome video just got an email about a Dx6 rugged if you do a video on that check the battery tray see if it comes out I got the dx6c and it comes out on that so you can hook a nimh battery to Jr connector

I was excited when I received the email from Traxxas today about this boat as I am ready to buy, but sorry Sonicwake V2 all day long.
I watched this video , and read several comments. I must agree the Proboat Sonicwake V2 quality seems better with aluminum parts, and self right.

Water is coming in from the stuffing tube. Grease the heck out of it should really help. Looks to be a better system then the sonicwake.
I didn’t see the discharge rate on your batteries. I got 100C or higher for the best performance on my older Spartan, as 50C got hot and couldn’t sustain continuous high speeds. Mine was scary fast on 6s. I preferred 4s. I would use four 2S packs for long runtimes. Looks like only enough room for two packs in this boat.

That's a much better design than the original.

They need to make a dual rudder pick up instead of single.. and use a solid cooling jacket.. the rubber cooling jackets are subpar

I may be stoopid bro but I really don't listen to people who call others stupid if they don't agree with the way they think. I may agree with your assessment to a point but TRAXXIS is the only rc company I know of who may use Taiwan imported parts but at least assemble in the USA. The company who MANUFACTURES.and assemble here will get my business. Till then Traxxas gets my business. I don't nit pick the small stuff on my hobby and choice I made and that I just enjoy. I always bring a way to retrieve mine. They do flip kinda easy if it's not totally flat water
I usually bring a fishing pole with hook, bobber and a decent weight just in case. It properly self rights, but always bring it in at the first sign of a power drop.
No break away screw for the rudder. Hit something u will rip it out of tht plastic hull.

Sold my spartan years ago because of lack of self righting and the fact that the hull suffers from torque roll and chine walking when you put some real electronic in them. I'd stick with the sonic wake v2 if i was in the market
It's still the 1800kv. Just a 3674 vs the older 3682. It definitely handles better than the older models

I built my own for my Sonicwake 36. A little trial and error, and it is pretty awesome!

Those that are seriously into fast boats including racing, have always viewed the Spartan more a hobby grade boat.
Get a Blast! Awesome boat, for going slow and boring. My 5 year old grandson likes it, for about 2 minutes.
There #1 becuase they have the budget to be #1 not becuase they are the best. This boat is still years behind the sonickwake and it took them years of having a severely outdated boat just to copy the sonickwakes self righting the boat still sucks. U should put a little smoke machine or something that makes smoke and put it inside the boat and close it up to see where the smoke is coming out from and then seal up the leaks

Why does the rudder not have a breakaway bolt? Wouldn’t worry about upgrading the prop if the a$$ of the boat is missing cause the rudder can’t break away if hit. And seriously? You need a special tool to take the canopy off? Come on Traxass get with the program.

Little late with the self righting feature. No dual water pickup either. Proboat Sonic wake v2 better deal. Have a Spartan but pay for a feature that should have happened 2 years ago. Get a Sonicwake V2 if you are thinking about this boat

You need a proboat Jetstream. No prop, like a jet ski.

No, boat self rights after a few seconds once the side flood chamber fills with water. once righted the water flows out the chamber under acceleration.

Self righting is really a very helpfull thing, but other than that, no thanks. Do see improvements in the design, but didn't like old one or this one. Never would consider adding one to my boat collection. For this money you probably can build a professional race boat or spend a bit more and buy a build one. Personally also think it looks cheap (china toy grade). But for most it's fine off course and it may get more people enthousiastic about fast boating. I'm all for that...
