    Coming from someone who works in a grocery store, Arizona actually has two types of cans a shop owner can order: normal cans and cans marked with the 99c pricing on the can. The idea is that even though you may lose money or break even from selling Arizona ice teas, people will go to the store to buy the tea and buy other items leading to more profit in the long run. Other stores that don't want to do this do have the option to sell them for more than 99c.
    Edit: The term for these items are "loss leaders" and it's the same concept Costco uses for their cheap hot dogs.
    Think about it for a second, if AriZona ice tea can just "use less aluminum in their cans to save money" wouldn't every beverage company do this?

    • @CooOOookiez
      @CooOOookiez ปีที่แล้ว

      but tbf i do feel like their cans are softer compared to other beverage cans

    • @VinnytotheK
      @VinnytotheK ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah, they gotta be able to make money on the drinks too. Their beverages are insanely cheap to make, and even with transportation and everything it'll still be cheap enough to sell it to the store for them to make some profit. I'm sure that even when a CVS or something does their 2/$1.00 deal with them, that they still make money on them.

    One thing to note: not all of Arizona teas are sold at 99 cents, some custom cans with certain vendors(I've seen Circle K) have their logo on the can, and thus can sell it at a higher price, but any non-branded cans still sell at the normal 99 cents.

  • @user-mh1dn9yy5q
    @user-mh1dn9yy5q 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It's common, especially if you have chain of stores.
    So in a store where they sell large amount of drinks they would keep the low prices to lure more people in, but buff the prices of other products to balance it out.
    Because percentage of people who is going to the store just to buy one can of drink, and walk out is real low. You will always buy something else while you are there.
    If you sell more you can get better prices on the initial supply.
