What I enjoy most Damian is that unlike a lot of car reviewers or journalists it’s your money that will buy the cars that you like, this leads to some real honest comments around likes.dislikes, value for money etc. Nobody sponsors you it’s just your opinion. Look forward to you antics with Jason next week, especially who will look more scared (you of course) when you thrash it around!
An Aston has that level of sophistication that something like a Farrari or Lambo just does not have. In reference to a Ferrari, Chris Harris said: 'People love the car but they hate you'. You wouldn't get that in an Aston - just all round respect for such an elegant car.
Everything about this car makes me happy... except for the white stitching on the black leather (if it were dark green stitching, it would be perfect). The sound, the power, the gorgeous styling- everything about this Superleggera works. I love it!
Subscribed! Great video and a good edification. Not a fan of selective drive modes at all but it seems what high class brands are sold on these days! I am slightly old school of the three pedal system, if you can't drive - stick it in the hedge on a Saturday night and drag it out the next morning...
Stunning car. The problem is that it isn’t different enough inside from a DB11. That is a car which is £75k less! Also when you compare it to the new Bentley continental interior it looks like it’s come from two generations of tech before that car as well. The biggest issue is going to be depreciation. Because they’ve overpriced the car from outset it’s going to be a very painful experience for the first owner. I believe you will get one of these in 12-18 months for £100k less than the new price. Now that would start to look like the true value of this car.
True , seems just like a tuned DB11 in a bodykit . Mansory have a tuned DB11 that is already pushing numbers close to the Superleggera . This is the car you buy if you already own a proper supercar
Super reviews as a newish subscriber to the channel. I think the external design esp. with the colour and rims makes you fall in love with this car. The only problem is, when you open the door and sit in the cabin you realise very quickly that same sense of excitement you had dissipates as AM have, as you rightly pointed out, failed to pay any attention on getting that centre console right inc. the lack of touch screen. So, all the hard work taken to make the car look amazing externally just kills it esp. given the price tag and competition out there. Damian: your Mazda point totally nails it on the other car too - I couldn’t put my finger on why I was not bought into the new front design of that car until you summarised it in that one word. Finally, I think Jason and yourself should organise a car guys trip to see your own collection at some point soon ... to see the lovely yellow and blue Ferrari would be great - even if you did part with the F40! enjoy the vlogs - may be a Portofino should join the collection at some point too?
A Superleggera with a Ferrari engine probably would be the ultimate GT car...... More beautiful design with a superbe engine! Ferrari 812 remains way more spectacle and smiles per gallon. But Superleggera is probably easier to live with on a day to day basis as a fast luxury GT.
"You don't buy and Aston Martin DBS to save the planet. You buy it to consume the planets resources as quickly as possible in the pursuit of fun." This guy is hilarious
When I think about the Ferrari 812, it’s exciting, loud, ultra snappy gears, high revving and fresh. The Aston Martin, whilst pretty, doesn’t appear to have the same level of excitement. For a new car it isn’t cutting edge enough for me. If I win the lotto tonight, it’s the 812 I’d get and spend the £200k saved on the Aston for a 992 GT3, once they are out.
The Car Guys must have made some serious money in business or investing or property, they have almost limitless monetary resources for cars. Absolute amazing.
Sold a successful publishing business and, no doubt, probably has his fingers in other pies. Can't fault him for being successful and we get to go along for the ride, so to speak.
I had the privilege of having a ride in this exact car, when @britasche had it for 5 days for a piece in Supercar driver magazine, wowsers! What a beast! I have never felt acceleration like it, especially in 4th, 5th and 6th where is seems the acceleration seems to get in fact quicker and quicker!! Amazing car, so much want for one of my own!
Another great video from the car guys, Jason and damo. What I really like is there 'bants' but above all they're honesty in all of they're videos. They are not fan boys like a lot of you tubers, and I think this sets them apart from the rest. Keep them coming guys
“A damn good thing thrashing.” The minute you mentioned that, I imagined Basil Fawlty with the original Mini. Brilliant review, looking forward to part 2 of this mean machine!
I love the car. The only thing I'd like to see as an option is to ditch the rear seats and make it a parcel shelf. That would make up for the smallish trunk (boot).
I think the infotainment system looks fine. Safer to use than touchscreen while driving. Many cars are now ditching touchscreens for safety reasons and going to the same systems. The rear seats are extra luggage space but handy if you really need them.
when you point and shake a finger at the camera, does that mean that no one can argue with you? my grandmother does that too.. and no, i don't argue with her. she also drives like you guys in your videos. it all starts to make sense.
These videos are great. Always give a genuine review and perspective rather than just brown nosing the car makers for lending the cars. Subscribed for great content here in the US 👌
Good review. I’m a Ferrari fan, but got to admit that Aston Martin do make some of the best looking cars around. The colour on this one, really makes it look menacing. I’d have this over the Bentley any day. Look forward to part 2 👍
What a monster, sublime looks and finish with a lump under the bonnet which will rip your eyelids off, great video Damian, the car guys garage needs an Aston..
I like it. But I suspect the insurance on my 2002 Toyota corolla is slightly less. That being said. The difference would be worth the cost..as long as my lady doesn't find out. Or I'd be finding out how to sleep in the Aston.
Looooooove this video!! I test drove a dbs few months back! Loved the drive, but felt the dash was too “Mercedes”. How ever it looks a bargain sitting next to a 812 super fast!!!
Excellent work chaps! Unbelievably one of the few people that have tested or are testing 812 Superfast, Bentley, Aston Martin DBS - I'd also like to see how the 720s comes up against these as I'd consider that as a tourer. These are real dream tourers. Having said that how cool would a DBS look with a ski rack on the roof?!?
You have reached the next level of cinematography with the transition scenes from day 1 to 2. The lighting, the music, the stats of the car... beautifully executed. Congrats! About the car... what’s superleggera on a car weighing 1,8 tonnes? The interior looks very dated and I am not a fan of the leather on this car, but on the other hand there few cars featuring such a beautiful exterior. It would be a hard decision to make if I were ok the market for a GT.
I very much like the Superleggera, and I appreciate your test drive narrative. Now I must decide to purchase the new Superleggera or the MacClaren 720 Spider. Any advice?
Great honest review, looking forward to the comparison in part 2. It’s not all about performance when purchasing these cars so it should be interesting.
Beautiful looking car, always loved the looks of an Aston, not a fan of the old gen Mercedes infotainment, but I guess it’s more reliable, and that’s what they need to improve in that price range....looking forward to part 2
Yes,, it's a fine looking car, that's very much let down by its interior design which is simply just not special enough for a car costing £250k! Thanks for another entertains video Damien!
Yes I have to agree about the interior, they need to get some new blood in and come up with something organic and original. Maybe have someone spend some time in the English countryside with Wordsworth, Blake, and Milton. Let's see Thomas Hardy, Henry James (yes I know he's an American), Anthony Trollope; and finally Led Zepellin.
This car is stunning to look at on the outside, the interior would have done nicely with the older center console fitted with a nice touchscreen (not sticking it, fitting it) to it. I don´t like the diamond stitching, is way overdone, but you can certainly spec that spiderweb away. (Agree with you on the Vantage, it looks like an MX5)
That’s my favourite Aston Martin looks great in green just needs tan interior for me and can I say bravo to you film too really enjoyed it beeps and all 😂
A great review guys. I think you hit the nail on the head - this car is achingly, bite the back of your hand, beautiful but the interior is just not good enough. The seats and all that quilted leather is spot on but the centre console, dash and the tech (once you've seen that sensor bublle behind the mirror - you just can't un-see it - same as the DB11 just horrid) is not what I expect to find in a 2019 quarter of a million pound car and would go as far as saying it's a step back from the last generation Aston interiors. I also will never be able to love the turbo charged era in the same way as I love the naturally aspirated 6.0L V12 in the last gen. I'm meeting Marek Reichman next week and I intend to ask him when the interior is going to be rectified!!
Really enjoying your videos guys! I would pick the Aston over the 812 just on looks alone especially in that dark green. I’d buy both if I were you though.
Great video £225.000 for an amazing looking car but the Centre console infotainment screen it’s old and looks it come on Aston Martin, you can buy a Toyota Carola with a touchscreen
Is the bentley not a completely different car, more suitable for the motorway and as a executive daily driver(s class coupe rival), where as the other two for occasion?
As much as I want to love it, it's just not there yet. The electronics and entertainment system needs a lot of updating, tungsten steel rather than plastic buttons, the interior just isn't opulent enough. Aston appear to have been trapped in an identity crisis for a few years, they class these cars as gt cruisers but in reality, they're just very comfortable British muscles cars. Who am I kidding.... Sunday drive for a spot of lunch, windows down destroying the sound of the countryside with those exhaust notes, waving to the people outside the local coffee shop, saluting every British flag you pass to the next nearest petrol station, on your way to the yacht in Monaco. The only button you need in an Aston, is the one to turn it on. BUY IT!
I've been an Aston fan since I first saw Goldfinger back in the 70's! The DBS is a beautiful car but I don't think the DB11 based interior is worthy of the price tag of the 11 let alone the DBS! The S&M dungeon interior especially the light stitching is too busy for my tastes! But I'd still give away a kidney to have one!
"You don't buy an Aston Martin DBS to save the planet, you buy it to consume the planet's resources as quickly as possible in the pursuit of fun" I love that 😂
Very interesting and as usual very thorough and honest review. The price of them seems a touch greedy to me though, when compared with its, probably, more reliable competitors.
Looks very sweet. I do think the technology dash integration is tricky. I think in any Bentley or Aston it needs to support the driver, but in the background and not foreground and I really dislike too much tech on show. It’s no 812, but the nicest Aston has to offer right now. I’m glad the styling is aggressive but still in that pinstripe suit, we all want to be James Bond don’t we 🤓
great video. So refreshing too see an adult review a car.
Thank you very much 👍

Great! Loving the channel and getting better and better all the time!
Thanks for the entertainment.

For me that’s the best modern day Aston, absolutely stunning 👌🏻
I’ve been consuming the planets resources since I was born, this car is my spirit animal.
👍👍👍👍👍
Haptic buttons are simply dangerous, as they are harder to use than normal buttons without taking your eyes off the road.
Mark Chippendale bring back normal buttons and dials!
Everything about this car makes me happy... except for the white stitching on the black leather (if it were dark green stitching, it would be perfect). The sound, the power, the gorgeous styling- everything about this Superleggera works. I love it!
Yes - dark green stitching would be perfect - good choice
Now, that is one car I would love to own, just beautiful. Great review guys!

Brilliant Video as ever Damian, with a beautiful car.
I'll keep this one short buddy. That car is you all over.

I'm in Rome on Sunday with a bit of time to kill so I'll give you my full thoughts once I've watched this again to drink it all in once more.

Great video. Does the 458 sit in the Gaydon car park for the week?
Yes it dors
Please tell me you did not leave them the keys! Remember Ferris Bueller's day off.

TheCarGuys.TV Good point, but keep an eye on Andy Palmer's Instagram account and see if he tests out a 458 this week ;)

DBS SL has very quickly become a dream car for me purely watching this video! Looks so good!

Why does the car "hunker down" when you put the drivetrain into sport plus? Isn't that what the left hand (suspension setting) button is for??
Good, informative video. Thanks.
What’s the wind and tire noise like on the motorway? Sounded quite loud tbh
Loud on rough surface but super quiet on smooth
4:29 you sir dropped it like a complete boss

Excellent video editing. Keep it up! 👍

"Clap hands" windscreen wipers, that is what we call them. God I'm old, that was years ago, a lot of cars had them.
Excellent review and superb editing and production ....👍
That is a mighty fine automobile 👌🏻
Fantastic review team. Question - do you notice the Mercedes-ness with the control and other systems at all?
Yes, I sort of do, a bit
Gorgeous car! Dont see many of those around Oklahoma though! Looking forward to part deux!
That story about the cat on the Trinitron was hilarious.
Beautiful car. Another great video, editing and shots well tied into the review. Great stuff. Now please buy one 😂

What a beautiful and classy car. Matches the video. Best Aston Martin to date.
Such a lovely car with incredible presence on the road. I saw this car on my North Wales Tour recently with SCD. 👌🏻
Do you need to buy a Superleggera 1st to qualify for an AM-RB 003?
No, Aston Martin doesn’t do those kind of shenanigans
I saw one yesterday. Absolutely stunning! Not sure about the quilted leather though! Great video as always 👍
Bond would be proud
I FEEL THE FUNIEST PART WAS YOU IN THE BACK MADE ME LAUGH UNTIL MY RIBS STARTED ACHING

Another Great Video and Review. What a Magnificent Aston Martin. Congratulations. Kind Regards from Portugal!

Agreed.
Great video. I own a Maserati Gran Turisimo at the moment but am seriously considering an Aston Martin DBS Super Leggera 👍

Is the bentley not a completely different car, more suitable for the motorway and as a executive daily driver(s class coupe rival), where as the other two for occasion?
Beautiful gt. Kind of 90's gt as 456 gt and 850 csi. Would love to see this comparo between F 456 gt and bm 850 csi or alpina b12 5.7 8series.
Absolutely no question it's bloody luvly.
Oh and once again great presentation Sir.
BUY IT!
My only issue with Aston is that they didn't do for the Vantage what they did for the DBS. I want a Vantage Superleggera! 🙏
Good point!
Agreed that diamond stitching is loud and borderline tasteless. Aston needs some new talents in its interior design studio.
Great review Jason - Dear Aston how about a 2 seater superleggera to go head to head with the 812
Wait for the DBS AMR. It won't compare to an 812 "limited track special" but it will make the decision to buy an 812 SF alot harder.
"You don't buy an Aston Martin DBS to save the planet, you buy it to consume the planet's resources as quickly as possible in the pursuit of fun" I love that 😂
Thanks 👍
I has the looks, got to be the nicest looking car on the road currently..
One of the most amazing Aston Martins that still sounds like an Aston.
Can you only get that front grill in black??
I’ve never seen one in chrome
The DBS Superlagerra Volante has to be one of the few soft tops i like.
Jeremy Clackson said it's not worth the extra money..
Indeed
I like the front of the DBS and the rear of the vantage only if there was the combo of the two😂😭
Subjective views, but I'd agree!
The Superleggera's haunches are annoyingly provocative of the prosaic Porch 944.
Very interesting and as usual very thorough and honest review. The price of them seems a touch greedy to me though, when compared with its, probably, more reliable competitors.
