  • In this video we talk through five of the things I hate most about my 2019 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera. I go through some of the irritations that have cropped up whilst doing over 8000 miles in this fantastically powerful top of the range Aston Martin.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this car and I fully admit this is a bit of a clickbait title but, nevertheless, there are still a fair few things that irritate me about it!
Hope everyone is keeping well. Follow PhilDixon9 on Instagram.

    4. I don't have it

I'm looking at one of these, but I'm with you. Buying new is a killer. $350k new, would prob get $270k on trade with 8k miles. That hurts. My Lambo went up $60k when I drove it off the lot.

Very useful video for me. Just been talking to dealers about buying one. Your spec is awesome. 11mpg. Not sure I could live with that just from the thought of it. I had an M6 v10 that did 10-11mpg and it really bothered me. The lumpy power delivery is also a concern although I didn’t notice it on my (brief) test drive. Absolutely love the exterior of the car, your yellow black interior is equally stunning.

  • @scottbarry62
    @scottbarry62 ปีที่แล้ว

You may have just talked me out of it. The gas mileage is so bad that I can't imagine going on any kind of a trip without having to stop every hour and a half. And, as you said, the luggage space is obscene. Although you can put luggage in the backseat. Probably more luggage in the backseat than in the boot. And that's ridiculous. I think the Vantage has considerably more boot space

Awesome car, but imho terrible configuration.
I like the zaffre blue color, but the yellow details give it a cheap Clio RS from the early 2000s vibe.
I love astons which are configured as a gentleman's car.
Without the yellow details, it would look so much better.
Imagine this car with a bitter chocolate interieur with mokka welts and contrast, yummy.
More terrible, than the yellow accents on the outside, are the yellow details on the inside, gosh it looks so cheap and aftermarket.
Nonetheless, awesome car in general and I know not everyone has the same taste, that's just my opinion

5 things I hate about your DBS: 1. It weighs 4100 pounds which eats gas and brakes. ..... 2. I hate being forced to accept so much "Black Edition". .... 3. It depreciates 5000 dollars a month. ...... 4. The gauge cluster is below standard. ...... 5. Only one 8 inch monitor.

What comes through the most from your video is how much you love the car! I get 25-27 mpg on motorway type runs if I don't go mad. I've no idea how you've averaged 11 mpg over 8000 miles which is what you claim-it's a GT car so predominantly using it for commuting/short runs seems mad to me. Buy a 911?!

I can't stand the infotainment tablet. I wish it could be hidden like on old Astons.
For a Turbo it drinks fuel like the lads at a boozer festival.
It doesn't rev quite as creamy as I'd like for a V12 and it lacks just that bit of baritone raucusness the old models had.
It's missing out on a DCT and it's quite porky.
    Other than that it's perfect.

    5: size; practicality

Otherwise it’s the best looking car in the world. Couple of questions though. Was it worth spending thousands extra on visual enhancements such as carbon fibre badges etc? It’s great without, and cuts down depreciation, and to be fair, the Aston badge is worth considerably more in terms of class and appeal than how much carbon figure you stick on it. Also, it’s got a 78 litre tank, or 17 gallons. So if you’re getting 11mpg you should get 188 miles range, in the tank alone, before considering the extra 3-5 litres of fuel in the brimmed pipes. So is it even getting 11mpg or perhaps the fuel gauge is as pessimistic as the weather man.

The DBS Superleggera has a 78L fuel talk which is approx 20 Gallons. If you are getting 100 miles from a tank, that would equate to 5 MPG when you're driving hard.

  • @markhuntley6756
    @markhuntley6756 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I have a DBS and yes I have had a few niggles but it is a car that has steadily grown on me. You do need to learn how to drive it and that was a challenge I ultimately enjoyed but compared to my Porsches in the past something I was not expecting.I have achieved 26 mpg on a long run from Scotland to Dorset and generally I have been pleasantly surprised on fuel given the rocket ship performance. Depreciation is a bug bear but I bought the car for me to enjoy for a long time not to pass on to someone else. It is supremely comfortable and that is a change for an Aston. I think the key omission for me is that you can’t raise the front end and speed bumps and ferries/the Channel Tunnel or car parks present opportunities to pointlessly damage your wallet. Otherwise a very special car. Don’t lose sight that the eco fundamentalists are going to kill off production of these types of cars so my advice is buy enjoy and live life; it’s not a rehearsal!

DBS superleggerra is not even bringing the identity of "classy man in a suit's car" identity anymore. The beauty and elegance from older aston martin cars are gone. it used to be a car which could get sporty and you could wear a suit in. But in DBS Superleggra, its obviously not. The edges of the body it meant to be looking edgy and striking, which more suited for hotblooded young man rather an mature executives in a suit. The name "Superlegerra" itself is very inspired by italian names. something that very off for a car that origins from UK.
The technology itself, nothing to be proud of to be a "halo" cars from UK car manufacturer. On 2019 on its release year, other car companies are just not researching, but also releasing a full electric cars that has more performance, more eco friendly, but also more reliable than DBS. But instead, Aston Martin is cramping 5.2 V12 to the hood that chugging more fuel than 20 years old mail fan.
I would say this car is not more than sellout move of a brand on a brink of bankruptcy to beg a young executives to buy their cars, because their cars is 'getting boring' and no one buys it.
I think thats why it value decrease rapidly. because i cannot guarantee even a loyal Aston Martin fans are proud with this car.
But despide all that, thank for sharing.

    Phil, come on mate.
Let me say from the off, I own and drive an Aston but it isn't a daily driver nor is mine a new DBS , that said all Aston's are special. You are in a very privileged position in not only being able to afford this car from new but also to spec it up with some vastly over priced goodies .... Aston over price all extras that's for sure but also you have the means to run this car on a daily basis feeding it's engine with the most expensive fuel we have in the UK therefore, I take issue with some of your points.
Depreciation: this isn't unique to Aston, you have the same thing with McLaren, Lamborghini and many other top brands of cars and you still made the decision to purchase it!
Fuel consumption: I agree it's horrific but then again you must have known this before deciding to run it as a daily driver ... Hardly something you can complain about after the fact.
Mercedes System: completely agree with you on this and it's unforgivable in a car at this price point however, Aston Installations will offer you an upgrade that keeps your car looking factory but adds android auto/apple car play etc.
Please remove the reg from you dash, it's very Fiesta boy racer and not befitting of a car with an Aston badge.

Lovely looking thing. I take my hat off to you because you have to be a proper petrol head to spend 300k on a motor moreso a brand new aston - knowing as soon as you pick up the keys you've dropped 100k. 1. Why buy this machine to complain about fuel consumption?
    2. Well, I agree on the size of the boot. Useless.
    3. Rear seats? THAT car is a Two-Seater, mate. Can't complain about 'rear seats' - those are for minor luggage.

My idiot dad just wasted $400k on one of these for his birthday. Complete waste of money.

As an Aston owner I most dislike the front, it’s horrible.

Look on Autotrader, and they're 1 year old cars going for 170k. Seems like McLaren levels of depreciation!

I think it’s an insult to people that are capable of earning the price tag of these cars, to then just throw in a old sat nav and more so that it’s just plonked there. And then you think is it the type of people that buy it are just mugs. Because £3k for a badge and then to say it’s been to Q for extras and the extras are just yellow stripes. The buyers are either fools or Aston make fools out of you. If it wasn’t for Bond they would have gone by now. That’s really why it’s bought the shape and bond. Without that the car is not that good. Interior very dated it’s not that fast (fast but put it on a track and it’s not) fuel economy poor fuel tank capacity poor glove box dosnt fit it’s own manual.. They could so easily be the best car in the world but they so much let them selves down. A merc E53 is better really. In fact merc should own it all sack the lot for been so blind and arrogant and make it the car ya think it is. NOW I CAN SAY ALL THIS CAUSE I BLOODY OWN ONE.. trust me the 2021 merc e53 coupe AMG is better so is the GT 63 in fact so is the 2016 Landrover Discovery I drive that more than the Aston.

    Hello ifriend!
Let me express iself to you in regard of your excellent video made!
i am adressing to you "ConS" about the car, and give you iprespective about it :P
(remember...it is i own opppiiinnniiiooonnn, not criticizing)
    1. About the price ... weelll, if i love a thing, i.e. DBS SuperLeggera, i dont want to talk about the price, if i want it, i buy it, periode :P
    2. About the engine ... weeell, one thing is driving a ford fiesta and the other thing is driving a V12 car! We need to get "used to it" ... thats its nature :P
    3. Exhaust + Fuel... weeelll, things happen and that´s why they replace that ... eh ehe ehe! In terms of fuel ... daammm, it drinks a lot yes, but we need 2 remember its a twinturbo V12 with 720HP ... and if we "own the car" we have the money to afforrdd its needs :P
    4. The infotainment ... no more words, heeheheh, absolutly agree with you!
    5. Once again...space/seats/trunk ... cant argue and i 100% agree with you! I could criticize a little bit more, but you were perfect :P
To sumarize this thing about M"i" "opppiinnniiooonnn" ... i was amazed by your car, and yes i own a DBS aswell :P ... and i know what u are refering to, but its like that, diferent cars, diferent engines, diferent ways of experiencing it...and YOUR 5 things that you hate about the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, are the things i love about it (except the 3+4+5) :)
Nothing personal ifriend, just a "chat" btween you and i .
    Regards,
    EternamenteEnamoradoEu🌈🌈
