I don't think I ever could've imagined "Springtime for Hitler" being performed in Germany - but here it is.

Come and join the Nazi party"

Similarly an American that was just curious one day about the question of “how DID they handle it in Germany?“ ,but even through my very limited German I was amused by the idea of the sketch about Max and Lego having the “brilliant” idea of trying to market Springtime for Hitler in German

It's a lot less funnier in German....it kinda gives you the creeps tbh. They're smiling but.... For some reason.... I don't really trust them :))). Mel Brooks said they gave him the best play in Berlin award...and he wondered if they liked it or just felt guilty and did it to be political correct...

@FieneFifi Antideutsche Hetzmauer? Guten Morgen, in welcher Zeit lebst du?

I don't know if I'm the only one that feel this segment "weird"
Don't get me wrong, I love the musical, but in Germany, it's weird to see actual Germans performing the play
I like Germany, but seeing this it's strange
And the end part with the applause, it's feels dead....

I'm shocked to see it, if only because the laws in Germany make it illegal to endorse National Socialism (note how even though they replaced the swastika the red armbands caused murmurs of concern). Most will understand this is not an endorsement, but presented without context on an evening program...I'm not surprised the applause was a little reserved.
The equivalent in America might be 'Springtime for Slavery'. Only funny if you're not the country that did the thing.

If you had a full-fledged Musical about this in Germany, it probably wouldn't sell very well. But I think it's not wrong, it could even improve the situation here in Germany.
Nazi's are a no-go topic here in Germany. While our politics to remind the people of what happened in Nazi Germany worked for a long time, modern Nazi's are using it for their plans. "Nazi's doesn't exist anymore and will never exist here again" is the message we get, but the reality is another.
The Producers sends a more valuable message for the people here in Germany: "Nazi's exist. And they are our enemies, but we still can make fun out of them."

    • @author7027
      @author7027 5 ปีที่แล้ว

hitler was shown here very well from a certain point of view: he was a showman only that he entertained really mostly himself.
and few friends like Ernst Röhm(a gay , killed by him) Doctor Goebbels, Himmler,Parteigenosse Borman , who else?
Germans expected from him something good, they were given shitty promises and they believed because he was not bad in a show.
at first he even gave them something . but nobody asked for what price.
