Steve another amazing video of the exhabition, great content, and talk about keeping me in suspense, the footage is excellent well keep up the great work, Thanks 👍
@@johnwigington2434 I'll be at Bury St Edmunds tomorrow and Stafford Sunday so expect more next week. There's a lot of exhibition specials on the channel in the meantime :)
Thanks for the video. I went but there didn't appear to be any kind of signing to let you know about the 'other' hall so I missed all the finescale stuff, which is a shame as that is what I really would have liked to have seen. At least I can see it on here.
You're not the first I've heard that from. The room was noticeably quieter and you can see in the pan at the start of the video. I knew it was going to be there from their social media post but I probably would have also missed it. I did miss one layout though which was at the front of the hall. I missed it amongst the traders
Now that looks enjoyable. I took our Grandson to a show yesterday which was frankly, pretty damn bad. A few half-reasonable layouts but they were either not working, the 'operators' were gassing or puzzling over screens that show nothing of sense. After an hour of little action, we headed off to the nearest Heritage Railway! I'm afraid that after years of this observation, many shows seem to have the same problem. Chaps! You're in the entertainment business; please entertain! Some years ago a club I belonged to had a chairman who said 'We're un-paid members of Equity; we must entertain!'
Yeah it has become quite common at a few shows I've been to. One which I travelled quite far to get to, based on being told that there were going to be a high number of layouts, thereby justifying the trip, turned out to be lots of small layouts where the operators either felt they did you a favour after being asked to run something, or their layouts ran so poorly it was impossible to get any decent footage. I now tend to only travel far if it's a big show or with layouts which I can look up online before attending. If they're mostly layouts with no information online or running footage, that tends to be a red flag and avoid. The biggest red flag I find is when they don't advertise what layouts are going to be there. I sometimes spend ages with a layout to get something decent which I can put out and show the layout and show in it's best light. What people don't see in the videos are sometimes hours of frustration and pain, that was edited out! :)
@@SHGPMedia Absolutely spot-on. That was exactly the case this time - and the second time this year. Admittedly we did travel to Bristol last year which was utterly fantastic, so everything else is perhaps not going to be as good, but there must be a few really top-quality layouts that aren't able to get to Bristol/wherever that are looking for a local event. We've been able to get to a mere handful this year (several Heritage Railways though) but this one really did make me decide that I'm not travelling too far anymore.
@@Beatlefan67 Spalding, Stamford, Biggleswade, Silverfox and Bassingbourne are local ones which I can highly recommend. Spalding is November I think and I go both days. It's pretty big with plenty of large quality layouts. GETS is next month at Milton Keynes which is very good, but extremely busy. I have to do two days at that to film everything properly.
There were some nice layouts here. Pity some of them were so badly operated. People simply don't look at how real railways work or read up about it. Locos don't couple up at 100mph and then reverse immediately. Sadly this is a trend at exhibitions these days. Thanks for the video though.
There’s always one! Railway modelling is supposed to be fun yet instead of praising people for their hard work and creativity you criticise the way their layouts are operated. You are the reason people are wary of getting into the hobby. It’s not just a “one off” either, I’ve seen you comment on other videos and it’s always a negative or criticism about the way someone has done something. That’s the thing about life, nobody is perfect and they don’t have to be. I’m not sure what type of trauma you’ve had in your life but projecting your own sad inadequacies onto other people is really quite pathetic to witness. Keep your pointless criticisms to yourself and try to spread some positivity instead. Just because there is an option to comment doesn’t mean you HAVE to and as wise men around the world have always said “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. ❤
It must be hard and difficult at times to get a good video. With poor operators sudden stop/starts and many layouts where trains just go and reappear through a hole in the sky ! It is not difficult to avoid this situation and I know because I have done it. I would suggest that you avoid this exhibition next year because I will not even watch a video on it. Shame but that’s the way it is. Regards Ron
@@RonCooper-nl4pn so youre suggesting I don't attend this exhibition next year, because you won't watch the video? Well 6 and a half thousand people have watched this one, I've gained at least 30 subs from it and a good amount of advertising revenue, so I'll manage quite fine without your view. Cheers
@@SHGPMediaHi there, I do apologise as I didn’t realise how many views you had, there weren’t that many comments and they weren’t all great. I think your video was very good so I now have subscribed to your channel. I am now going to watch some more of your videos. Regards from Ron 🚂🚂
