Lived there for 12 years
Love the weather
Great seafood
Port A was awesome
Very beautiful place
Sorry may I ask u a question?
are u living in Corpus Christi?
I’m about to go there to work on June
I wonder about the hurricane and how save it is cause someone say it kinda dangerous Thanks in advance
@@beehoney-k1f , its the crime that u should be worried over. Cc is 3rd highest in texas

I just got back from Corpus Christ! 4 days ago! Beautiful place! THANKS.
CC is a pretty laid back place. I love going there when the water gets warmer . The jelly fish is no fun . The downtown area could do better in terms of entertainment. There's a lack of ideas from city management. I personally think this city has so much potential to be a tourist magnet .
I agree! They need some major construction done in the area, better ways to handle the traffic too. A lot of the residents are unhappy about living there right now which is understandable considering they are there 24/7 unlike many who just come for the visit.
@@shegathers6120 you're right . Start with a mall or outlet center close to downtown , maybe update the exterior of some downtown buildings, amusement park, just like more of everything. CC could expend more it has so much space . The city also needs to invest a lot in infrastructure.
We had a amusement park it went out of business within 2 years lol the bank bought it back tried again and now they are bulldozing it
@@usarules1230 in order to get it all running the city needs to grow from residents to businesses.
I lived in Corpus all my life for the past 20 years and Couldn’t agree with you more. It is really laid back and it’s all we ever do. It can be a real tourist spot but city management is always focused on useless ideas like putting neon lights and rebuilding the harbor bridge. For natives like myself, I knew I wasn’t going to find my full potential there so I left and I don’t regret it. It is a beautiful place for a vacation but it really has potential to be an extreme tourist attraction.
Love how spent 2 seconds talking about Selena, killed almost 30 years ago and till this day she's loved and remembered.
I've been to lots of places in the US. Corpus Christi, North Padre island is one of my favorites places.
Lol this is where I was born and raised, my entire life, this was it.. I live in Hawaii now but Corpus is my home
Just a heads up from a local. North Beach is not the best beach, it’s actually one of the lower class ones in CC. The Gulf of Mexico is not Downtown, that’s Corpus Christi Bay. The Gulf stops at Laguna on the Eastern end of the city when you hit the causeway to the Island. The best beaches in the city are Malique, Mustang, New Portpass, JP, Whitecap, Bob, Big Shell and PINS.
Thanks for the tips. Any beaches you recommend for surfing?
Hi there, my fiance and I are looking at getting married at a beach in Corpus Christi - which would you recommend? Thanks bunches!
@@caseyhoyt7353 unless you want piles of trash in the background id go somewhere else. its nasty. fishing line, bottles, bags, diapers, flip flops, glass and whatever else are everywhere. its bad
whitecap is awesome, a lot of people tho
All the beaches are bad in corpus.
As a Corpus Christi, Texas native, I love that city with my whole heart! I’m glad it’s been growing ever since I had moved away, but I just wish the city management would have better and more creative ideas to make it more of a tourist town and had actually listened to the people living there! Like add an amusement park, do major construction & better handle the traffic, revamp the sunrise mall that I heard was apparently closed down! Whatever the residents that’s are not very happy there want!
Sunrise mall is gone now every thing is closed in there even the cheap movies place is gone too
Is there any mall there?
La Palmera, just down the road, is a nice place actually (for people who like malls anyhow-I really don't)
you don't want to rely too much on toursim. Tourist spaces lead to price increase and airbnb buyups. not worth it imo. Maybe they don't want to be Austin?
I was debating moving there, from New Orleans, yeah that would be perfect if they had an amusement park, i just want to move somewhere safe with my wife and kids .. and to prosper
We just got back from Corpus! Living on the west coast and never ever being able to endure the ocean temperatures here, I was shocked that the water was 80 degrees both days we were there! If anyone is there, we had Fish & Chips, (Mahi Mahi), at an incredible place, *Snoopy’s Pier* I highly recommend them, spendy but worth every bite! Also, the Shark shop in the video has incredible souvenirs! The only downside of the trip was the huge congestion and the roads really could use a fresh pave 🤣
The roads look rough with potholes LMAO
I’m a New subscriber and it’s great to see my hometown on a TH-cam channel. We’ve got so much more to offer like concerts at Brewster street, authentic Mexican cuisine, and great fishing spots, we also support our baseball team the Hooks! Glad you made it out! I hope you had a great time down here and you’re always welcome to come back! Our roads are a little bit of a hassle but us locals always seem to get by somehow🤷♀️😂 haha. We always have naval air shows every year here, and fun fact the USS Lexington turns into a haunted house for Halloween!
Trust me! Corpus Christi is overrated
@@theyteachlies8991 I could see that, so are the beach towns in Oregon. It’s the small ones that no one knows about that are worth the trip every time!

I just read the book to Selena with love, and I read a lot about this city I wish one day I go there.
I'm from Scotland, but travelled to Corpus Christi to work on a vessel about three years back. I really liked the look of the place but unfortunately didn't get to see much, would like to come back some day for a holiday.
Great video mate.
Nice! We had a teacher from Ireland during my Middle School years.
We just got back from Corpus Christi ♥️
We had fun too beautiful 😍
I visited here several years ago and enjoyed my stay there.
Great video 👍🏻
This place looks amazing, peaceful, close to the beach and suitable for family either for vacation or retirement 🌊🌴😁👌🏻🇺🇸
This place gives off major Florida vibes
The battleship there is cool and the Aquarium is excellent.
This is an excellent video. I had no idea about how windy 🌬 it is or about the aircraft carrier tour, kite surfing & how it’s one of the oldest cities. Very amazing video of 🏝 beach & the sky.

Thanks for putting a nice little paint job on my city I grew up and live in. Great place to visit but living here is ANOTHER story
What did you not like about living there if you don’t mind me asking?
@@zachlane4079 i live here and our inept city council who decide to use millions on pet projects that could have gone to infrastructure. constant road work despite not finishing one before starting another
@@zachlane4079 This guy has OBVIOUSLY not traveled that much and can't see past the comfort of his couch. Compared to New York city and Los Angeles, Corpus Christi just for the cost of living is unmatchable! You can buy 2 homes here for the price of 1 in both NY and LA! I have friends that have retired here from both cities and their nest eggs have gone a lot farther in living in a home instead of living in a $3000 a month tiny apartment. People complain about simple things that are laughable like roads??..but they never see the other side when it comes to their wallet and how far a person's money can go..they just take it for granted or are just totally ignorant. I would love for that guy to visit NY and live there a month. ha ha.. He would be in for some serious sticker shock and in for a very very very rude awakening! LOVE YOUR VIDEOS BTW! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
Absolutely RIGHT!!! I lived there for 7 years when my now ex-husband was in the Navy. I'm sure it's fine for a visit but I NEVER want to live there again. The BEST thing Corpus has going for it is Texas A&M University Corpus Christi. I don't even recognize it from when I was there some 25 years ago. I received my Bachelors degree and Masters degree at this university, and the faculty was FANTASTIC!!!!!
I live there and it’s so beautiful! That’s all I know.
Wow
i never knew this city even existed
i’d like to visit one day
love corpus....fun place to visit
Reminds me of Florida with palmtrees 😍❤🥰🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴
Definitely go camping on Padre Island. We've camped out the back my pickup twice, on the unimproved campgrounds part of the beach, about 6 miles down. It's one of the cleanest beaches I've ever been to, and it's as close as you can get to a private beach without paying much for it. Campers are so spread out that if you pick the right spot, you won't see a single other human in either direction. We've woken up with all kinds of animal tracks circling the truck, so you gotta be careful at night. Lots of ghost crabs as well.
Also, don't go past the five mile marker unless you have 4 wheel drive. It gets pretty sketchy after that.
Such a perfect location for a city. Non-american here.
ugh i grew up here part time .. lots of memories from the 80s
Beautiful America 🇺🇸👍👍❤️
It looks so beautiful
fantastic job in the making of this video and the video itself. thumbs up!
Yeah I live in Corpus Christi
wow! this place is awesome
I personally love Corpus Christi Texas. I love the fishing and beach. I love how it is more slow pace and laid back. "Island time". I don't live there but I've been there plenty of times. Thinking about relocating but then I hear so much negative about the city. I know the basic spots to avoid and I know that the Southside of CC is the ideal place to live in the city but idk.. That being said, every city has its pros and cons
What were just one of those negative things? If you don't mind
Wondering if the lighthouse apartments are in the bad part?
SELENA ❤️❤️❤️ forever the Queen
Great Video! Very informative.
Been to CC once. It's beautiful.
Corpus just needs a little more entertainment in the night life and it would be an amazing city…still one of my favorite spots in Texas no doubt
I agree. I am looking at a condo downtown for myself. But, there is just a handful of good spots downtown.
I would recommend anyone visiting to stop at Mesquite Street Pizza and Pasta Co.
They have the best pizza and drinks around. Plus up stairs there is a comedy club. Thank me later

I discovered this city when I saw the movie Selena, and I want to visit this city
Great job thank you real nice area.
Lived there for almost 30 years. Beyond cactus in the sand dunes there are also rattle snakes.
Corpus Christi is a pretty nice town. I had to live there with my family for one year due to my job. We liked the oyster bars and the Republic of Texas Bar and Grill. There is a botanical garden that was very beautiful . The problem is the weather is extremely sultry during July to September it was in the high 90s and it feels like in the low 100s. The water on the bays is a little polluted and they need more treatment plants. I had to add a very expensive water filtration system to my house to raise the quality of the water. I would live in South side, Bay Area or Mustang Padre. It could be a really nice city in Texas. One guy said Corpus Christi was the Detroit of Texas in another podcast. It's not I would say El Paso or McAllen is like Detroit or Flint. Corpus Christi had pretty nice and laid back people.
The city of Selena .
and Walter Furley.
1965(!)... That was my first visit to Corpus(!)...battered old schoolbus and ratty aging ferry crossing over to Padre Island(*)... Wow!!! Nothing like that now!!!
they also have a super cool aquarium
They should have named Corpus Christi "The Windy City" instead of Chicago.
Ha ha. I may be mistaken but I understand that Chicago supposedly got the name "Windy City" because of overhyping stuff not the actual wind.
@@JEdwardBanasikJr because of the shady politicians 😭
So much started here in corpus Selena whataburger and a bunch of stuff a small unoticed town

Next time you’re down try Harrison’s Landing or even Snoopys for some local restaurants instead of corporate.
Corpus is like a mini Chicago except for the rich people who don’t have to deal with gunshots every night
Lol. We have a couple areas where we can enjoy nightly gunshots. I would not recommend for tourists tho.
1) credit to the Selena memorial:Buddy Tatum. 2)moved to California from CC in 1990…I will never leave California but have a truly soft spot for in my heart for CC. 3). How is it with 300,000 people, you would know everyone when you would hit the clubs
Corpus is a great city! Robert Earl Keen wrote a cool song about it too.
The air craft carrier was HUGE. I can't imagine when folks have seen UFOs that big. My lord!!!
Hey Island Hopper man, I've been following you since you were on the Big Island and was committed to moving there from the South Bay (L.A.), but then Covid hit, etc. and I decided to stay put. Nice to see you still out there, you make really fine videos man and you know how to eat. I have this feeling I might meet you sometime. Seems like you left Hawaii long ago. I think you already visited Redondo or some of the other Beach Cities, but if you're around it would be a good subject for ya.
I wish Mom and Dad could take me,Mitchell and Gabrielle to Corpus Christi for a vacation in summer of 2024 to stay at a hotel in Corpus Christi for eight days.

CORPUS CHRISTI HAS LOTS OF OFFENDERS BEWARE th-cam.com/video/Exkoxpyejuk/w-d-xo.html
Our history teacher was just put in a book for hurricane and it actually hit Rockport which was supposed to be what corpus is today but it pushed so much sand in they couldn’t make the harbor for ships anymore
That Corpus Christi bay ! The gulf of Mexico is way across that bay.
Have you ever done one of these videos of Rockport, Aransas Pass or Port Aransas?
I live here in Corpus. North Beach is the "Tourist" Beach. And you arent swimming in the Gulf. That is Corpus Christi Bay.
Later in your video you went to the island. THATS the real Tourist destination.
Other than the Main attractions you recorded, there is really not much else going on here.
You can't expect everyone from out of town having this kind of knowledge like you have. If someone says it's the Gulf so be it lol. It's connected to the Gulf right ? Enjoy life my friend.
There are plenty of things to do ,museums, botonical gardens ,fishing offshore ,inshore on jetties or beach or bays,Whataburger field baseball, plenty of bars if that is what one likes, any type of water sport, waterpark close to downtown, yes it lacks some of the entertainment of say Houston,San Antonio,or DFW but people usually dont go to that area for that anyway.
@@texastravelers210 that’s true, but when a local tells you the real deal, you should probably listen. I will take a local‘s word over a tourist any day of the week

First of all I watched all these videos and then drove to Corpus Christi and this is what I saw.
The downtown was abandoned and even worse the suburbs appeared abandoned. Even the luxury homes along the bay front had grown out yards and driveways. Additionally when you drive through the city you'll realize that the police are in your rear view mirror.
The psychology behind Corpus Christi and areas nearby feel like this to me.
When the jobs leave town it's doesn't matter how nice your home looks, you'll eventually lose it financially or by becoming as mentioned by being a statistic of crime.
The abandoned feeling of this city basically gives you the feeling that the police eventually said "hell" and just arrested everyone.
As a tourist you have to realize that the only good paying job is giving you a ticket. This city is an example of a community arrested into submission.
These videos "attempt" to lure people into these dangerous places. I can't tell who's producing them, it's either cops that need traffic quotas or criminals who have robbed the same people over and over and need fresh meat.
The positive is that the gas is cheap so you have no reason to be stuck in this part of the country. Use it wisely!
This dude has been copy pasting this comment on every Corpus video I've come across. Probably a troll
Basically, you're saying the good old boys run the town and it's there way or no way at all.
