Kitty Pryde can also walk on air. She hasn’t done it in a while but it is a part of her abilities. Most writers forget about that ability just like they seem to have forgotten that Nightcrawler becomes invisible in the shadows.
Man I always forget how many comics john romita jr has actually worked on. He must be your most covered artist on back issues. Like or hate his work you can’t argue with his legacy.
Kitty Pryde is able to walk on air, it's an ability she was described as having in the 90s and shown during Gambits return arc after The Trial of Gambit. So, she can create a foundation to stand on literally out of thin air. The Wolverine brainwashed by Hydra idea is actually a throwback to a scuttled Chris Claremont plot. He intended his run to end with Xavier and the ShadowKing killing each other, Wolverine brainwashed by Hydra, eventually breaking free and the love triangle resolved with Logan ending up with Jean and a post Civil War style status quo, where half the mutants are outlaws and the other half are tools for world governments. Some of this worked it's way into Claremonts X-Men Forever series, but Claremont added and changed things because he'd mentioned his derailed plans for his grand finale prior. The Northstar death is also notable for pissing people off for being seen as insensitive. Northstar was the first openly gay Marvel hero and between this series, Ultimate X-Men and X-Men: The End / Book One, Northstar was killed 3 times I believe in the same month. Which speaks to his rise in prominence since Chuck Austen brought him into the X-books, but it was seen as in bad taste by some at the time. Realistically, I don't think you can apply a protected class status if you want equality for storytelling opportunities for all characters in fiction, so that seems like a flaw to me, with the notion that Northstar should've been spared, particularly when all the stories feature multiple deaths and his is given extra weight in story each time (the loss of Ultimate Colossus' lover, in The End saving Cyclops and being reunited in the afterlife with his Alpha Flight teammates and in this, with the effect on Kitty and relevance in the second half of the story against Logan).
X23 looks better in X-Force colors but I'd like to see her in a version of the yellow suit. Kinda want Daken to make a return. Maybe give him the X-Force suit.
@@ShawnWeeded510 I like the brown suit on Wolverine idk it has a nostalgic/vintage feel to it plus I think it would look better in live action than the yellow.
Yea, I like the Brown Suit for Logan. For Laura I've always liked her X force Suit except for the weird red goggles. I feel like the yellow suit is a little too bombastic for Laura.
I remember this being a great series when it came out. I remember reading how Claremont had wanted to do something like this to Wolverine at some point.
Just watched the first few minutes but wow, Millar lifted the entire opening concept directly from the Kurosawa movie "High and Low" right down to the guy being a chauffer.
Only so long as the writer wants to make it appear that way. But not really. The character has become hyper popular over 30 years. And the movies have added onto that popularity. But that is wearing thin to us comic book readers who see thru the gimic..To many great other heroes that are being down played to this. Not a good thing. Great character but far from unbeatable, far from unkillable. Not even Superman is un-killable.
Whats funny is that you trying to explain Kitty Prydes powers reminds me so much of a character from My Hero Academia called Mirio. They even explain the thing where he has to control his power extremley precisely so he doesnt accidentally fall through the Earth, or how he needs to make his foot tangible again when stepping through a wall.
OMG, I love this story! Mark Millar has written some very silly stuff, but his Superman & Wolverine were pretty spectacular. Most of his main DC & Marvel stories were, of course!
While I don't agree with Northstar, this is Wolverine we're talking about. You can hit him as hard as you want and not worry about killing him, that's kind of his whole point
I remember there being tie-ins to this in other titles, like they would just be going about their normal adventures and then suddenly Wolverine shows up and fights them and they are like "that was weird" and go about their business
5:38 Isn't that Cyclops's power? I assume the point of Gorgon, and in particular the specific way they describe his power, is to explain how they managed to kill Wolverine.
I remember way back in the storyline Apocalypse the 12 (Which was dealing with another brainwashed Wolverine) Kitty had phased her body to protect herself from Wolverine (who was Death at the time) and he tells her to the effect of, "Your body might be phased, but you still need to keep your feet solid to stand on the ground" and proceeds to stab her feet with his claws
I honestly felt spoiled this week, getting a bat-issues, then a great episode of Elseworlds exchange, and then getting more back issues. Just amazing content you guys are making, I love it.
I love Enemy of the State. It's so gritty and mean, perfect Wolverine story. Its a bit bloated (too long) but its really good. The Gorgon was a great villain, too. He was OP, though, kicking Wolverine and Elektra's asses with little difficulty.
The very first issue of the "Wolverine and Deadpool" comic I bought over here in the UK was the finale of this story, so it will always hold a special place in my heart for confusing the hell out of a young me!
Imagine being neighbors with the Watcher. Can't do anything with the blinds open or he's watching you. "Bob, I see you're in intestinal distress, I have some wonderful medicine for that." " thanks Uatu, I'm good.... "
Sal, have you ever covered the Spider-Man Identity Crisis storyline? If not, could you? Dusk #1 was actually the first comic I ever purchased and I'd love to see the entire story.
Interesting fact: the nurse’s sin becomes one of Wolverines’ greatest enemies, and joins an organization called the Red Right Hand. I don’t want to spoil but they have a plan that’s outcome is so devastating for Wolverine that it won’t be matched until Old Man Logan.
I'm going to sound like a complete nerd, but I guess I'm in good company for it. That discussion about Kitty at the end reminded me of a character from My Hero Academia who has the power to become intangible like Kitty and there is a lot of really interesting detail in how it is a really hard power to make work. Eyes intangible? Can't see. Lungs intangible? Can't breathe. Making only a part of your body intangible so you can phase through walls without falling through the floor is evidently very hard, and if he is inside an object when he becomes tangible it just sort of shunts him out. Also, he has this problem where it is very hard to not be naked when you phase through your clothes...
Okay... I really remember this story a lot more darker with Kitty phasing her arm inside Wolverine skull and dephasing, losing her arms but making Wolverine unable to heal his brain...
Idk why I liked this episode as much as I did. This is one the best in a long time. I feel like the story was a good mixture of good/bad/goofy, the story was coherent and coherently explained, and the content was familiar enough for Sal not to JUST be expositing, but a little different enough for a couple good bits (like Rachel Grey). Yeah. Good shit. Thanks ComicPop. Do Annihilation?
Does the story feel kind of cheapened to anyone else when characters can just plant explosives and hack databases off screen in what seem like minutes? Stuff like that along with the plot-friendly teleportations, EMPs, and inexplicable hover cars kind of leave me feeling like the execution in the story was a little hollow. God, is this what being old feels like?
Kitty Pride is like the the guy from my hero academia. They go into it on one episode and basically explain it just like y’all did. It’s cool cuz he talks about having to train and like falling into the ground and it being a dark void
I feel like when Marvel finally does a proper Fantastic Four movie, they should make Reed autistic. His personality is crushed under the weight of his hyper-intelligence.
Wolverine was a highly trained government agent for most of his life. He should know his way around a computer. Maybe not Reed Richard's computer, that might be a bit much, but he should have some level of tech savvy.
Fun note about this book: This is the same event that leads to Eric O'Grady becoming Ant-man
Kitty Pryde can also walk on air. She hasn’t done it in a while but it is a part of her abilities. Most writers forget about that ability just like they seem to have forgotten that Nightcrawler becomes invisible in the shadows.

LMFAO!
I cried tears at work.
Getting "Physical" with Ethan near the end
Cool.
Yeah it was
Wolverine’s mutant power description should read being the best there is at what he does. Nothing else
It should read "snikt" + healing
This episode was great. And that tangent at the end about Kitty was super interesting.
"Konichiwa, Bub."
34:00 | I've ALWAYS thought about that kinda stuff with Sue, like she should be way more badass than she's often portrayed. That's so dope.
X-23 should keep the Yellow Suit and Wolverine should keep the Brown Suit... I've always liked the brown one better.

One of the better Mark Millar & John Romita Jr runs.
Well since no one else said it " Getting Physics with Ethan"
