I generally listen to hard rock but when this song came out in the '90's, Paula's voice and vocals on this song mesmerized me. This is one song I could listen too many times in a row and love it more.
Our generation came of age during a very fckd up time in history but our childhood (the 90s) was precious and beautiful. Probably the very last, great decade. When i think about stuff like this, i get both nostalgic and depressed because it takes me back to a time when things were more organic and innocent. Music now is so predictable it makes me sick, having everything ready at the palm of our hands has taken all inspiration out of it and nothing is spontaneous anymore.
My 7 year old daughter was singing this song when this came on last Sunday while I cooked her breakfast. I genuinely stopped and listened because she thought I wasn't looking. Great tune!
Such a beautiful song that came from a beautiful heart!!! I have nothing but praise for this gem. I love her voice, and the way she uses it musically for emotion!!!
The people who run the music industry dont want feel good music like 70s 80s and90s its controlled big time thats why we have to go back in time to get our heart felt music
Her voice and performances have this unmatched rawness, she goes straight to your heart. I love her. We (and the industry) are very much in need of this today. Thank you for uploading!
"I Don't Want To Wait" So open up your morning light, And say a little prayer for right You know that if we are to stay alive Then see the peace in every eye... doo doo doo doo do doo do do do doo doo doo doo dooo doo ooh She had two babies, one was six months, one was three In the war of '44... Every telephone ring, every heartbeat stinging When she thought it was God calling her Oh, would her son grow to know his father? [CHORUS:] I don't want to wait for our lives to be over, I want to know right now, what will it be? I don't want to wait for our lives to be over, Will it be yes or will it be...sorry? doo doo oooh doo ooh do do ooh He showed up all wet on the rainy front step Wearing shrapnel in his skin And the war he saw lives inside him still, It's so hard to be gentle and warm The years pass by and now he has granddaughters [CHORUS] You look at me from across the room You're wearing your anguish again Believe me I know the feeling It sucks you into the jaws of anger(oooooooh) So breathe a little more deeply my love All we have is this very moment And I don't want to do what his father, And his father, and his father did, I want to be here now So open up your morning light, And say a little prayer for right You know that if we are to stay alive, And see the peace in every eye... [CHORUS x2] doo doo doo dooo oooh do dooo doo doo doo doo dooo do doooo oooh doo doo doo do dooo do do So open up your morning light, And say a little prayer for right You know that if we are to stay alive Then see the love in every eye...

she one of the best modern times musicans! and damn she was sooo beautyful these days...wow!
Beautiful? lmao, no
@@srujan00 She was. Maybe not in a classic or model sense, but she was, especially because of the way she carried herself.
"Dawnson's Creek" Ahh....the 90's. Good old memories.

That beautiful, joyful smile she gives her bandmates near the end is so touching.❤️
The lyrics... the artist... the meaning... the emotion... thank God for the 90s!!! Thanks paula: )
this song reminds me of my beautiful and happy childhood😭😭😭😭😭
Such an amazing voice
Lyrically this is so beautiful. And the emotion she puts into it is heartrending and inspiring.
They played this song HEAVILY in the late 90’s and I NEVER tired of hearing it.
I need to be asleep, but I just couldn't resist. This song is timeless. Thanks Paula!
Why I'm always crying every time I hear hear this song...

That song is me when I left the service. It lives on in me. I told a few stories to my grand daughter and she told her teacher I was a hero.
Thank you for taking me back to a very special time in my life. Your music was definitely part of my 90s soundtrack.
My 7 year old daughter was singing this song when this came on last Sunday while I cooked her breakfast. I genuinely stopped and listened because she thought I wasn't looking. Great tune!

Growing up in the 90's era. Going back to memory lane.

Agreed. I was 17, now I am 40.
I was 20 and 43 now.
The music is still great! I love it!
I was 46, now I’m 70.
She’s soooooo beautiful
Just saw her perform this song at the Luckman in Los Angeles in April 2024. Paula sounds even better!!
She truly is talented and can make songs on her own. The people being celebrated by Grammys nowadays are just trash and all done by collaborators
The people who run the music industry dont want feel good music like 70s 80s and90s its controlled big time thats why we have to go back in time to get our heart felt music
Amen !
90s was swarmed with many small independent music labels. That's why it was such a beautiful time for music.
Electronic drivel now
TIMELESS vocals!
Her voice and performances have this unmatched rawness, she goes straight to your heart. I love her. We (and the industry) are very much in need of this today. Thank you for uploading!

"I Don't Want To Wait"
So open up your morning light,
And say a little prayer for right
You know that if we are to stay alive
Then see the peace in every eye...
doo doo doo doo do doo do
do do doo doo doo doo dooo doo ooh
She had two babies, one was six months, one was three
In the war of '44...
Every telephone ring, every heartbeat stinging
When she thought it was God calling her
Oh, would her son grow to know his father?
[CHORUS:]
I don't want to wait for our lives to be over,
I want to know right now, what will it be?
I don't want to wait for our lives to be over,
Will it be yes or will it be...sorry?
doo doo oooh doo ooh do do ooh
He showed up all wet on the rainy front step
Wearing shrapnel in his skin
And the war he saw lives inside him still,
It's so hard to be gentle and warm
The years pass by and now he has granddaughters
[CHORUS]
You look at me from across the room
You're wearing your anguish again
Believe me I know the feeling
It sucks you into the jaws of anger(oooooooh)
So breathe a little more deeply my love
All we have is this very moment
And I don't want to do what his father,
And his father, and his father did,
I want to be here now
So open up your morning light,
And say a little prayer for right
You know that if we are to stay alive,
And see the peace in every eye...
[CHORUS x2]
doo doo doo dooo oooh do dooo doo
doo doo doo dooo do doooo oooh
doo doo doo do dooo do do
So open up your morning light,
And say a little prayer for right
You know that if we are to stay alive
Then see the love in every eye...
She is so awesome
I love her smile

Back in '97 I had a big crush on Paula Cole. After searching for good live performances from the 90's and stumbling upon this, I realized I still do.
Have you seen her lately??
@@alexnutcasio936 Father Time is an ass hole but I'll always remember her from 1997.
Dawsons was on itv2 in the uk last year and its back on now, love it
So extremely underated she is
Grew up thinking a wild guitar solo was the be-all of music, then I grew up.
She's so beautiful...
Great version - sounds like a kitchen party! Bet they love this version back in Rockport! Mrs. Potter is smiling somewhere!
