- The new 2021 NERF Rival Curve Shot series is an interesting idea that at first: a NERF gun that curves it's shots like wanted. Maybe it doesn't seem all that exciting... but the practical use of spiking shots downwards is amazing and incredibly overlooked! I didn't see any other reviewers talking about this, but does that awesome ability surpass the $25 USD price?

Unfortunately, these would be pretty tough to dual wield. Could be done if you attach the bolt to opposite sides though.
But hey, the drop curve is actually game accurate too!
@@sonicrunn3r895 yeah true. I like walcom's idea of attaching a splatoon themed proton pack to the internal magazine to turn it into some weird semi-auto jet squelcher type weapon. Definitely needs a spring upgrade though.

As would I, yes.
Hope someone customizes the sideswipe as a maliwan or hyperion gun, but it mostly fits as a maliwan due to the overall shape and alot of maliwan guns look like they were made by aliens!

The Helix is gonna be beastly, especially with a god hopper on it. I don't care much for the other two personally

Having finally gotten my hands on one of these, I can say that the curve gimmick is a hell of a lot better than I thought it was going to be, but not in the way you might think. Rather than using this to shoot around corners without hitting walls, I find that this blaster shines best with rebounds and ricochets, since you can adjust the hop up with the muzzle, you can rotate the tab to face the wall you want to bounce your shot off of, giving it much more speed on the rebound than regular rival. This thing has been amazing for CQB and preforms above average in regular wars in my recent experience with it. Just wish the stock was longer
and then the next innovation next year for the rival line - an adjustable hopup tab that lets you put more or less spin ;)
Honestly, I had the same idea to do a proton pack the moment abquintic revealed this blaster to the world. It would be cool to have a springer that basically never runs out of ammo. Just my style 😎

Finally getting excited for nerf. Its been awhile since we saw a actually good blaster and nice to see the extra details like the bolt options so yeah I'm kinda looking forward to what nerf is putting out this year

You hit the same point I did when thinking about this "curve down" thing. The range might be tricky, but you can peek shots over cover if you get good at it.
I may pick one up when the price goes down a little, still need to get the ultra 2.
But it’s not good
The sideswipe to me looks like the covenant carbine from halo with the barrel chopped down short. I would LOVE if someone made a 3-D kit to make it look like that
EDIT: also this gimmick works way better than I expected and it’s actually useful because not all existing rival blasters can be tilted sideways to curve shots (specifically the nemesis and the Perses because their hoppers are gravity assisted)
The magazine being where it is, and working how it does... I suspect it may be possible to have a hopper backpack work with this, for all your splatoon high capacity needs.
I want to shake hands with the fella who sketched this thing out. Looks very cool and unique.

Oh wow, that’s a genius idea, especially since it seriously resembles the dapple dualies. Put perses internals in it, do a proton pack like what captain Xavier did with his minigun, and BAM!
Great video, you are 100% right about the downward curving shot being this blasters secret weapon. The admin. at the gym we play at has a rival nemesis that for some reason curves down and he knows how to use it. It took us a while to figure out how we were getting hit, from where , and by who. I speak from experience when I say this feature can be pretty crazy when used correctly. The gym owner even has a video that features it in use on his TH-cam channel (ALDOSS). Can't wait to get back to playing, hopefully soon. Keep up the good work.

I just got one and any way I hold it( shoulder, 1 hand, pistol, hip fire, hip fire with drawled ) it feels so good + it’s really light
I love the looks of the Sideswipe, I can't wait to see the paint jobs that are given to this blaster. I am going to wait for someone to come up with a replacement stock with an N-Strike stock adapter at the end. If someone could make a top prime handle that would be even better.
Ok when you said Splatoon weapon it instantly made me think of the Dualies. You gotta get two and paint them to look like some Kensa or whichever Dualies. OG colors would be sweet too

Whenever you do get a proton pack for a splatoon build, see if a doublewalled pack is doable, fill the space between the tanks with your favorite sides paint color (tinted water or actual paint for full points and have it sloshin about while the inner tank has matching rival rounds to spew out.

Seems like a fun gimick this one seems like the best out of the line I am tire of low capacity hoppers I prefer mags or internal mags or high capacity hoppers if you HAVE to do hoppers at least you get capacity for the poor feed reliability of the hoppers

Btw it actually holds 12+1 because when you prime you chamber a round and you can put a new round in the mag to get at 12 again and have one ready to shoot

Good idea with proton pack cut for massive ammo, but it could also use some micro flywheels to keep that slim profile and maybe even a three round burst pusher mech 😉
Used the sides wipe in a few wars (modded) most fun I've had with a blaster in a war in a long time. Love the vector style prime.
Hi. I swapped out a Finisher's spring with an Apollo spring and it hits around 115fps average. No catch issues at all, it's one of my favorite primaries for indoor matches. The hop up needs to be compensated for by aiming lower, but I think that's a benefit here. More speed, more curve! Can't wait to try it!

The Splatoon comparison is actually really spot on, because the drop curve is actually really accurate to the weapons in the game.

I feel like the coup de grâce for this line that would make it stand out from the rest of Nerf's competitors would be some form of dedicated Nerf Mortar that lobbed an obscene amount of nerf rival rounds at average to above average rival range I'm thinking like a nerf volley-cannon , but the only problem is the restriction Hasbro apparently has with how hard their products hit and their restriction on performance

I averaged 92 with mine. Unsure if you've a lemon or if it is difficult to get reliable FPS for Rival in that style chrony?
Audio balance is a bit messed up on this one; the music is (I think) fine, but your own audio is heavily skewed to the left channel. My right ear feels left out.
That is a good thought on the downwards curve, though. Being able to rain shots down from a steep angle on people trying to hide behind a wall or other obstacle might be a real 'gotcha' feature.
