      I've been unintentionally skipping brushing my teeth since I was 13. I'm 25 now. Diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder and PTSD.

      @@ElderQueen me too and i feel like a very triflin person because of it people criticize me for it all the time i really wish god would help me take better care of myself because i have kids and i want them to be able to keep themselves clean at all times

    I put my phone in a ziplock bag (or you can buy a fancy phone water bag) and I watch Netflix in the bath so that I am not alone with my thoughts. When I shower I have a playlist that is “run boy run - instrumental version” (any fast paced song will work) on repeat 3 times (about 7 minutes) this way I just go straight to washing my hair etc instead of just standing beneath the shower spray or curling up on the shower/tub floor.

    I’m thankful for my sister, when it’s really bad and I have no motivation to even get out of bed she will sit with me and brush my hair that I haven’t brushed in weeks (we use children’s detangler if anybody needs a tip)and she will just be there.. it’s so important to reach out for help sometimes. 💜

    These are nice hacks, thank you. It's hard because so many people just think you're lazy. It's not that. I have no energy when I am depressed. I can hardly get out of bed. My thoughts are so focused on my emotional pain I don't even think about any of the life stuff you should do. All my body and mind wants is to sleep until I feel better. Just having these little things to do to help you feel somewhat normal will help a lot if I can care enough about myself to even try.

    Its amazing how depression has transformed me. Hygiene always came easy and now its hard to care! Thank you for the happy little music and for skipping all the other body parts (its a start).

    The fact that we are researching or watching videos on tips and advice on hygiene while depressed is a very big step in the right direction. One step down everyone! 🥳🥳 I’m praying for a turn around 🙏🏽 We can do this!! 💪🏾

    One more - vagina wipes (not just baby wipes or wet ones). Box of ten costs about $2 and falls under the same idea as mouthwash - feels better than nothing.

    The dry shampoo one was literally me today, I just couldn't find the will and the energy to wash my hair

    A nice thing to do: take a bath but set up some candles (which smell nice if you like this), put on a facemask and get some strawberries or chocolate to eat while bathing. Read a book or watch your Favorit show. It's hard to keep up your hygene in bad phases but you get clean while doing self care and thats one thing which always helps me. And i always feel better after that because I'm clean and did some selfcare. And sometimes after you started you may like to go on and moisturise your skin or paint your nails or whatever you would like to do.

    The brushing teeth is me :| I've struggled with GAD all my life and not admitting to having GAD and depression has taken a toll on my body. My teeth are still fine, but I've noticed slight recession between the gums. I'm kind of grossed and disgusted of myself, but I'm finally gonna look into antidepressants. I want to get out of this hole I'm in, not worry so much, and enjoy life.

      CBD oil, if you can, can possibly help some of it calm down as well. It can at least close background tabs of the mind. haha

    This is really helpful. I have been diagnosed with BPD some years ago, and I´m only 17. Depression and mental illnesses have been an issue since I can remember, and I´m still not over them. Even when I´m extra happy and euphoric I have to struggle to go and do something as easy looking as brushing my teeth or combing my hair. I always find a helping hand in this kind of videos, not only as tools to keep myself together, but also to help my little sister who´s only 13 years old and already battling with social anxiety and depression and to help my family and friends to understand

      My mum has bpd as well and I know it's really hard for me to be around her so I can't imagine how hard it would be for you I really hope your okay! And just know you can get through anything

      I have bipolar, ocd, major/ severe depression, social anxiety and general anxiety, my doctors think I may also have bpd and I'm honestly thinking about giving up my mum keeps forgetting that I have issues to and I know she is struggling but she needs to remember she has a daughter, she hasn't asked my "how are you?" "How was your day" or anything like that for 3 years my therapist and psychiatrist and everyone tells her some of how I feel and she just doesn't say anything it's as if she only cares about herself at night I nearly took those pills but then I thought of my great grandma that recently died of cancer and how she would want me to still be here I honestly don't know what to do I would have tried anything last night but she saved me😭

    Yes it’s extremely hard for me as well. I only shower once a week because of depression everyday and truly people around me never understand what I’m going through. I don’t go out, I only work one day a week, I’m always alone and miserable and depressed everyday because of poor choices. I can’t even drive a car which I’m afraid to drive. People don’t realize how much of a true struggle this is. I sometimes feel sad 😢 and alone and I don’t know how to cope with depression. Even sleep problems too. I only sleep during the day but awake during the night and early morning. I never know what to do. I wish people would understand me and figure out how I can cope and help me through it. 😔

    This is so true!! When I'm in a funk even getting up to use the bathroom seems like climbing Mt. Everest 🗻 lol Things that are stupidly simple get put off untill tomorrow as if they're some huge an time consuming elaborate projects.. I LOVE the saying "Fake it till ya Make it" but still ask for help if you need it!! This video is very short an simple yet very thought providing 👌👏

    My best personal tips are: Invest in an electric toothbrush, a bedtime ritual that soothes you (my skincare is a HUGE part if that & listening to my favorite podcasts.) and buy anything else that’ll (actually)help you do something hygienic, like a shower chair if you’re in pain, etc.

    I have no motivation, I don't feel sad or anything like that, I just can't seem to move and get a single thing done. It's my boyfriends 30th birthday on Friday too and I have things to do. I'm stuck here in a room I can barely move in because it's gotten so messy. I haven't showered in days. I get like this all the time for years. Even therapy and CBT doesn't work and I've lost my 20s to this now.

    I'm going to get detangler and dry shampoo, cause it's sometimes 3 weeks between showers. I have extra wet wipes for the body stashed under the sink. When I don't have the energy to really scrub the tub - there are water rust stains and other colors that gross me out so I don't want to take a shower.

    Im so glad for dry shampoo, i cant find any motivation to do anything for myself and the shampoo is fast. Originally it was for my cosplay wigs, but I need more help with my own hair than wigs.

    A tip for showers- take half of your shower now (example- wash your hair (I wash my hair in the sink)) and take the other half later when you have more energy. Even if you never take that 2nd half of the shower, you still did something. Maybe use a wet cloth or baby wipes when you change clothes
