You are a very ingenious man, and your attitude is contagious you made it look like it is simple and here I am getting ready to make one for my self. THANK YOU, thank you very much. May God bless you and your family always.
We who will be using your design have received a true give. You have asked for nothing. You have simply put this out here for use as...a GIFT!!! There is no better way to give. As icing on this cake, your gift will spread with each soap maker as THEIR soap affects others.. Way to network Mr.... A very heart felt thank you from us down here in S. Texas.
I am a woodworker and a soap maker. You get MAJOR kudos for creating this design brother! I was surfing the net just looking for dimensions for a 2lb mold and stumbled across your video. Glad I did. Your parts list is good enough for me to whip out a couple of these babies for myself. Thanks for sharing man, that is very cool.
I want to thank Rob for this wonderful soap mold. My husband made me 2 of them yesterday and I put them together. They were so easy putting together except I kept forgetting to put the wood glue on. I don't know if I can put the pictures on here but I will try. ROB YOU ARE WONDERFUL. Thank you so much. Guess I will have to put them somewhere else so you can see them.
Absolutely wonderful. Thank you! Going to head to Lowe's after Honey gets home from work and make some of these! You're stellar for sharing. The stackable lidding is genius! Now off to find a good cutter to work with these!
Nifty build Rob. I had built one using bolts and wing nuts. It was working fine, just the disassembling took a few minutes. The hinges got me thinking. I built what you built, but i used a single base piece and moved the hinges to the two sides. I did not step cut the two small sides and made them sit on the outside of the base and long sides. All in all, 5 rectangular pieces. The sides just flop down when pulled and soap remains sitting on the base plate. I always look to your channel for ideas. Much thanks.
wow ,c'est extraordinaire .Merci beaucoup pour ces explications .Vous m'avez sauve la vie !!, Un moule en bois c'est beaucoup d'argent .Bonne continuation BOB
WOE, I stumbled across this. Rob, Thank you x 1,000 for taking the time to share your idea. my husband does woodworking and I do the soaping. I just can't thank you enough for sharing.
Awesome! Thanks for the complement! Get you husband to check this out th-cam.com/video/Z-VTiY4gb0g/w-d-xo.html Happy woodworking and soaping! Cheers! Rob
Very impressive! I like it. I've done several iterations of soap molds, box joints, dowels, dados, some with hardware and some without. It's just fun making them. I may have to try your design though. I never have trouble getting my soap out of the molds. (yet)!
I made three of these a few months ago to my specs and they are AMAZING! Thank you so much for the idea. Everyone who sees them thinks I am a genius- then I make sure to tell them it wasn't my idea! Thanks so much!
I just made this mold tonight. I followed the instructions exactly as you said on the video. I don't have a brad machine but after glueing the wood and leaving it for 30 minutes or so it was enough that I could screw the pieces together. Can't wait to make the soap in it. Thank you so much for taking the time to video this procedure. Happy Christmas! How about you designing a soap cutter next?
LOL! Yes a soap cutter. There is definitely a need for a good, cheap, easy to make soap cutter. Have not seen a good one yet... As for the Mold you can definitely use screws or hammer driven finishing nails. I would try to pre drill for screws and pre nail for nails. You can also just use glue and clamp for 24 hours with a good wood glue. Happy soaping and Merry Christmas! Rob
Congrats to you ladies who have huabands that can put things together. Mines can put a fort to the plate and that's about it. I want to say thank you for this. I will be heading down to HD and getting the wood cut out and i will do it for myself. Wish me luck! I will be done. Have a wonderful day.
I'm not sure they will make all the cuts as HD doesn't have table saws. You can always find a handy relative or neighbour to make the cuts. It's a simple design and well suited for beginners so I have every confidence you can make this yourself. You got this! Best of Luck and Happy Soaping! Cheers! Rob
Amazing mold Bob. I tweeted the measurements so the box would fit a silicone mold I have. Love it, so easy to remove. I don't like gelling the soap, so I never made the lid. Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou.
Rob, these soap molds are amazing...I'll be making 2 tomorrow!!! Have you made a soap cutter? I love how you've set up your workspace. I'd love to see a video on how to create a workspace for carpentry projects. Thanks so much, Rob!
Thanks for the fast reply! I know how to line a Mold. The part I can't wrap my head around is opening the Mold with soap in it. I only do Hot Process, but my soap is not rock hard as it comes out of the Mold. You can easily leave fingernail marks. You are kind and generous to share your design and demonstrate how to make it. Thank you for your valuable contribution to Soaping. BTW:: I'm in TO!
My wife does the hot process soap as well and she has never had any issues with removing the soap from the mold. These molds are dirt cheap and super easy to make, so if you are running small production runs you could make more molds and let the soap cure longer. (try one - you'll like it) Thanks for the compliments! Cheers! Rob
Thank you so much I will try and make them I only have just started making soap and it is so expensive to buy the moulds. I will look into making silicone to fit it as well. cheers many thanks
I would not recommend silicone liners - they are expensive, hard to clean and hard to get the soap out of. My wife used parchment paper to line the moulds. Works great! No mess to clean and it's cheap! Happy Soaping! Rob
If you need someone to actually make a soap in your soap mold and video tape it to show how well your soap molds work ship me a 2 pound soap mold and I'll make a video of making a soap and using your mold to put the soap in and also show me taking the soap out and how easy it is to use and unmold the soap from your soap mold :) Just a thought to drum up business for you !! :)
Oh my goodness, genius Rob! I've noted your email and will be contacting you when my business plan and funds come in! I'm super excited! Thank you for sharing your creativity!
Hello Rob I have only just discovered your Chanel and am very pleased I did, your soap mould is fantastic to say the least. As your wife is a soaper, do you think you could design a soap cutter, as there are a few out there but a build from you would be great.I am now a subscriber. Thanks again.
Thanks Mike! I have been asked by my wife and many viewers to make a soap cutter. I will make one eventually. I have moved to a different house, which I call "the handyman special" house. So most of my current video's are mainly home improvement and renovations because that is where I'm spending most of my time (and money). But I will make one sometime! Cheers! Rob
looks great, one suggestion, soapers need to bang the soap down to get rid of bubbles, a hook and eye on the end for safety when doing this might be a good idea.
+Victoria Stewart - Thanks! I was quite pleased to find that nobody had thought of this before. In my search for ideas I have seen another clever idea called a "folding block" which is a box the size of the inside dimensions of the soap mold. You use your parchment or wax paper and wrap the folding block and tape perfect corners while leaving the top open. Then you slide the perfectly sized soap liner into the mold. Good Luck and Thanks for your comment!
Thankyou so much....I have been searching for this design! Thank you so much! Although the dimensions I am looking for are different I can adapt to this design. The molds I will be making are for 4x5x27 which will produce two tall & skinny soap loaves. ...The only suggestion I have would be to not chamfer the edges. That is the first instinct when woodworking but the crisp 90 degree edges are actually what you need to quickly line the mold with freezer paper. The sharp edges create a good transfer crease. I guess you could sand some edges but just NOT the inner top perimeter of the mold👍🏻
Thanks Rob for a fantastic upload. Came across your channel today Really easy to build I made 2 of these today in a 2 Lb size .. Needless to safe wife was happy .. Thanks again mate..
Thanks! No I don't sell them but they are easy to make. If you don't have tools just get a friend or neighbour to help you out. Good Luck on your build! Cheers! Rob
Sorry I do not sell them but they are easy to make and it's a very inexpensive design that can be made of scrap wood and old hinges. Good Luck with your build and Happy Soaping! Rob
Depends on the staple size. You will need them to be 1 1/4" long. You can use regular finishing nails or screws. Pre drill if you are using screws so the wood doesn't split. Happy Soaping!
Exceptional !!! What a great idea. I do suggest you get that design patented and also you should open up shop and sell these! Some of us soaper's are not handy with building tools and wood and we would need to buy one. So I for one see a successful part time business there for you :)
DreamDesign Yes I have been flirting with setting something up so I can sell some of the things I have made. I don't find woodworking is very lucrative unless you do small production runs. As much as I like woodworking I can make more money working overtime with no headaches. If you want some let me know, I'd be willing to make a few... Any suggestions on where I could market them?
Rob's Garage Woodworking Yes one place you could start is in all the facebook soap groups and there's a ton of them! Some of them soaping ladies go nutts for stuff like this. You could also open up shop on Etsy, Ebay or storenvy shop. Storenvy is free and I think you can add up to 50 items for free and then after that it's a small fee. YOu could also open up your own website. But first i'd join the soaping groups or your wife could seems how she makes soaps :)
I'm going to concur: these are the best molds I've seen online. It solves several problems rather elegantly.
You are a very ingenious man, and your attitude is contagious you made it look like it is simple and here I am getting ready to make one for my self. THANK YOU, thank you very much. May God bless you and your family always.

Thanks for the wonderful n doable soap mold. So easy even a cave gal can make it. Lol. I don't have a brad nail thingie. Would a staple gun work
Depends on the staple size. You will need them to be 1 1/4" long. You can use regular finishing nails or screws. Pre drill if you are using screws so the wood doesn't split.
Happy Soaping!
Hi! Thanks for this. Are these nominal sizes or actual sizes for the wood? Is it for 2lbs of soap?
The dimensions of the wood are also listed in the video description section. I believe my wife said they were for 4 pounds of soap.
Cheers!
Rob
Wonderful design! Could you please tell me the finished size of the soap bars your wife make in these containers. Thanks
