I keep seeing poor reviews for this movie from people who are upset that it wasn't a ghost movie or something like they expected. It had me losing my mind,, so glad to see a legitimate review and discussion of the film
I’ve seen a different interpretation of the family thing that being that Owen does have a family but he’s so disconnected he doesn’t even see them like it’s a fact he knows and says all the right things about but he can’t connect to the point they don’t exist in his day to day life to him so we never see them
Loved your analysis! One of my favourite films of the year so far. I haven't seen anyone else who agrees with me on this, but I had assumed that when he says he has a family now he was just referring to the fact that he bought a new television for the house, the characters from the show being the only family he has left. He does do a small look down to it just after saying it
You explained this perfectly Marshall. When I first watched this movie, I didn't understand what I had been watching. After watching a few reviews and doing some research on the theories within the story, I did a re-watch and totally got it!! I'm a gay guy so feel pretty damn stupid for not understanding it the first time around. My second watch totally blew me away! Fantastic visuals and outstanding acting by both the leads. This will become a modern classic!
“theres still time” 🥺 i like the theory that the movie is one long pink opaque episode!! we see owen (Isabelle) asthma/ breathing issues getting worse and worse. isabelle is getting buried alive at the end of season five. the open ending is so haunting for that to me
I've been really enjoying your other reviews so decided to watch this movie, and gosh, I can't stop thinking about it. Your interpretation also made some parts seem even more horrifying and sad. Great review, thank you!

I've never watched a movie that made me feel a more primal urge to get out of the house as soon as possible and call up my closest friends.
