Is 5-Year-Old’s Hair Too Young to Dye?

  • Influencer and self-proclaimed ‘cool mom’ Demi Engemann let her 5-year-old Maude skip kindergarten for a mommy-daughter salon day. Demi documented the process by which Maude’s hair was bleached blonde, and uploaded the video to TikTok, where it’s been viewed millions of times. But criticism of her decision to let her young daughter treat her hair has followed, as well. Engemann said, “I don’t regret it.”

5 year olds dont need beauty products to build confidence, they need human interaction and love from their families.

    • @johnnyBrwn

Exactly, this is the real reason divorce is sky high. Some mothers want to be able to raise their children with no rationality. Just because a 5 y/o FEELs like they need something they shouldn't automatically get it. That little girl won't have any grit or resilience as an adult because her mother is raising her with no emotional capacity to confront life's challenges.

@ashley1994 if it was just about her daughter then why would she feel the need to document it and upload to tiktok? If she really did this just for her daughter she would have never uploaded it tiktok for everyone to see. This is exactly whats wrong with society today, everyone is so quick to post every got damn little thing they do in their lives online for views, likes, comments and followers. Literally almost every woman bleaches her hair and they start as early as 12 years old. It's such hypocresy how we do all these things yet expect to teach children that what we do is wrong and harmful. All she wants is blonde hair and she looks gorgeous in it. Literally every teen girl would do this and nobody would care, and it's just a natural hair color, she isn't doing her make up or putting on acrylic nails. It's worse to pierce a baby girl's ears for beauty and nobody hates on that

Usually kids seem to want to dye their hair their favorite colors; the colors they’d choose to draw with, the colors they want their bedroom walls to be. But blond doesn’t really show up in places like that. It usually has more social media, magazines, idealized characters, and beauty model type origins.
I’d just really like to ask that mom what her child’s favorite color is, and why she didn’t want to dye her hair that color.
