I don’t save pages for collections. But I work from the back forward for collections and from the front backward for the dailies etc. so they aren’t mixed up but I’m not risking not having enough space carved out for one or the other. If they meet in the middle and I run out before the end of the book I add more pages or use a second notebook. 15:23

I love everything happening here!! & “asking less of myself” is the lesson i had to learn and keep re-learning all through graduate school. it’s so hard bc i know i always want to do *all the things* but it is a recipe for burnout (which i am still recovering from lol).
thanks rachel!!! you are SOOO right. I honestly feel like i started my doctorate already burnt out from my masters 🥲 here's to asking less of ourselves this year!! 🤍
As usual, this gave me so much joy and serotonin! I am OBSESSED with the color of your stalogies 😍😍😍 your research notebook makes me want to start working on my doctorate again (but I need to homeschool this babies first).
I let go of my hobo too, very reluctantly. I understand being emotionally attached to it on such a cellular level but I realized it was also causing stress and a sense of obligation when it was supposed to make my life easier.
I wish you all of the joy and happiness in this next semester and we are always here rooting for YOU!

Way to go on reading 33 books last year Lauren! I love reading too but struggle sometimes to find time to read for fun after reading so much for my psychology masters. Where there's a will there's a way! Also using a common planner this year with a hobo weeks mega
I completely agree! its so hard to get back into a reading practice after being conditioned via school for it to feel like a chore!
Love this, and thanks for sharing! I’m excited to hear how you like the “undated dailies” in the common planner as opposed to the page a day Hobonichi, because that’s going to be main deciding factor of whether to switch to a common planner for 2024 (that and the size change actually!)
Also I’m super impressed that you managed to read 33 books for pleasure last year alongside your massive work & school load!

I'd honestly LOVE a deep dive into your research notebook! 💙 As someone who...paused their PhD indefinitely, and is now making solid plans to restart it (and finish it this time), I'm always fascinated to see other brains at work😄

What planner cover are you using for the Common Planner? Colour?
its a Moterm brand cover in their original pebbled leather! unfortunately i cant remember the exact name of the colour as I got it so long ago 😩 brown of some sort lol

it is the moterm cover with pebbled leather but i can't remember what the colour is officially called as i got it so long ago 😭 i am pretty sure its light brown!
I'm not very interested in the Common Planner tbh - kinda seems like a Cousin ripoff if that makes sense, haha. I hope it works out for you, though! I'll be back if you switch back to a Hobo/Cousin :)
They’re pretty much the same planner so it’s weird that you’ll stop watching because she’s using a different planner

Calling it a ripoff is a bit silly. A longtime planner enthusiast created a product better suited to her and hundreds (or more) people who have been providing feedback that Hobonichi has not implemented. That is how products get made and the development process clearly acknowledges that she used Hobonichi products but had issues that were documented online in her videos and those of again many people. You could say that about literally any planner company that’s developed in the last decade.
