    Smartypants drilled the hole in advance. Looking at mine and worrying about how I'm gonna drill a hole up there lol

    Love this! I'm planning on building my own soon. How is the humidity now without the humidifier and not sealing it?

    I am seriously considering exactly this cabinet for setting up a small greenhouse. One of the weaknesses I have noticed though, is the wood on top and at the bottom. I think water will easily go there and make the wood swell. Have you had any problems with that?

    • @HalfHeardintheStillness
      @HalfHeardintheStillness 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The wood isn’t water proof, it does bubble a little. You can line it with a scrap of linoleum or something! I just accepted mine was going to bubble a little from misting. I set the bottom plants on plastic water catchers.

      @@HalfHeardintheStillness Thank you, but I want my cabinet with very high humidity and also an automatic watering system. It will be WET. Linoleum wont do it.
      I guess I can basically get some more glass and silicone everything. Detolf seems to be a good base and cheaper than buying/building and aqua terrarium of the same size.
      My plan is to keep half aquatic plants, so it needs to be water proof.

    Do u put the lights there to just help with or create the temperature or are there specific lights needed?

    • @sentimentallia
      @sentimentallia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I put the lights in there because the greenhouse cabinet is in a dark corner of my house. It also helps increase the temperature :) the strip lights Are linked below

    Did you seal the wood? If so, what did you use?

    • @sentimentallia
      @sentimentallia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! I didn't seal it at all and it seems to be fine :)

    hey. I have this shelf. I am wanting to add a humidifer instead if having to water often. Since the top is like wood. Any thoughts on that. Or how has it been working for you?

    • @sentimentallia
      @sentimentallia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had a mini humidifier on the second shelf and the only thing with that is the the water calcifies on the shelf from the water vapor. I don’t think a humidifier is all too necessary because the natural humidity stays consistent within the shelf. I’d say to not put the humidifier on the top shelf so it doesn’t ruin the wood top!

    Just wondering if it’s necessary closing up the holes on the edges? Been seeing some greenhouse cabinets using the a rubber strip to maintain its humidity in it :)

    • @sentimentallia
      @sentimentallia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it's not necessary for my cabinet because the humidity and temperature stays pretty regulated! But I've heard for the Milsbo it tends to escape from the cracks and need weather proofing. I'd say if you have one keep an eye on it with a hygrometer reader. :)

    Do you actually still need to water your plants with the humidifyer? Or is the humidifyer enough?

    • @sentimentallia
      @sentimentallia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You still need to water your plants no matter the humidity. If the humidity is high you won’t need to water as often but you still need to water.

    Won't the plants grow toward the lights? No room to put lights over the plants?

    • @sentimentallia
      @sentimentallia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They can and eventually they will, but then you just propagate them :)
