    "It feels and smells like Mexico". Somehow I knew just what smell you are talking about and transported me to playing in the rain visiting my grandma in Michoacan.

      I fuppy recommend the fountain over a humidifier ☺ it keeps the relative humidity high but doesn't make things 'wet'! A little safer!

      I also have a mini fountain on my fireplace (livingroom) for humidity. I add more water to it every day because the fireplace is hot/warm during wintertime 24/7 and the warm water evaporates faster. I must wash the whole fountain every week (because of the slime). I have a real household humidifier in our livingroom also, and it boils the water constantly, and evaporates it, so it's safe (no bacteria in the water etc.). Air is dry because of the heating during wintertime, so I use these things, they are keeping the humidity just over 40%.

      Plus, you have the BEST sense of decorating and arranging in a greenhouse cabinet I have seen so far! (and believe me I have seen many, I follow the Instagram account @ikeagreenhousecabinet, too) I prefer Milsbö & detolf over Fabrikör anyway, way more simplistic and elegant.

    This is so incredibly helpful & couldn’t have come at a better time. I’ve been planning my IKEA greenhouse cabinet for a few weeks..the exact pieces I’ll need like the drill bit for the glass, the best grow light for the plants I’ll keep in there and your set up has really helped me visualize what I plan on doing. Thank you 🙏 and I love your set up. Also I have several Ludisia desicolor plants most are over a year old and I never mist them. I use the foliage orchid spray to fertilize and I keep a few near my pileas. About 70% humidity & bright indirect light. All are growing like crazy.

    Love it. Wife and son have a cat. Usually pretty good with the plants but still risky. This is awesome. I would all a tad bit more light at the bottom. LED's won't make it through those thick beautiful leaves. Fountain won't leave water minerals all over everything.

  • @dmbaldwin77
    @dmbaldwin77 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow this is the best set up I have seen yet for the Milsbo cabinet. I saved it in my favorites because I plan on duplicating it someday in the near future. I already told my husband that's what I want for my next special occasion gift. The only change I would make is to drill a hole in the bottom of the cabinet for the light fixture plug to pass through otherwise it's perfect.
    I absolutely love the waterfall idea. I would like to find one that recycles the water so you don't have to refill it.

    I have a detolf cabinet that I use to display all the stuff from my travels. Because the spaces between the shelves are large and some of my curios small, I bought this clear plexiglass display shelves from amazon. They come in three sizes and were truly an excellent buy. They are pretty sturdy and allowed me to make maximum use of the space. I’m sure you will find them an excellent aide. I’m from Ottawa! I also have the same problems as you regarding light humidity etc. but I’m just beginning my plant journey and I do have some exotics but my present solution is grouping them together on a pebble tray with a grow light dangling from above. Although I do live in a house I have a husband and son to contend with. Our family room faces south but it is also the tv room. I’m also interested in bonsai, my first love! So the family room serves several functions. Love your channel. We certainly need a Canadian plant lover!

    Awesome video but real quick both blue and red light both work well with growing. The problem with blue is the efficiency is so good that it will produce smaller leaves. Might work well to keep new growth smaller if you lack space, but for the prettier leaf plants, keep with red to keep up leaf size. I have a variagated plant that losses it pink hues when I use too much blue. The more light I give it the less pink, so blues efficiency is giving it more light then I want. Just be careful with added red as it adds more heat (similar to heating lamps that also project red light)

    You are amazing!! …Love your setup! Can you add a pinch of diatomaceous earth to your pots for a gnat/fungal-free environment? I love the presentation and what you’ve done so far in your apartment.… can’t wait to see your future collection. As of today, I’m a new Subscriber. Thank you for sharing your talents with us. ❤

    I’m so so obsessed with this idea!! I’m a bad new plant mom though and last spring I had so many spider mites and really didn’t know how to handle it.. and I had fungus nats and that was horribly annoying! Hopefully this year I can learn more and be better!

    Can you please make a video on how you grow your alocasia bulbs! No one seems to know how and you said in this video that you had one growing so it would be amazing if you could share any tips on growing bulbs and what to do with them before trying to grow them. Like how long do you dry them out? Do you have to dry them out for a certain amount of time? What media do they grow best in? I have about 2 dozen bulbs that I want to grow and I just can’t find any consistent grow guides.

    Hi!! I’ve watched all of your milsbo videos (among many of your other videos) and just love what you’ve done and what you continue to do with your greenhouse cabinet setups!!! I do have just a couple of questions if you have time to answer, I’d be so appreciative! Currently i have monios-l t8 light strips in my cabinets. They’re also milsbo talls. I have 3 acrylic shelves in each of my greenhouse cabinets; one is a small corner shelf, one is a larger sized corner that takes up half of the width of the cabinet, and one is a full shelf. There are oblong holes throughout the surface of all of the shelves to allow for humidity and airflow throughout the entire cabinet space. I am growing mostly all philodendron and just a couple anthurium. I also have one monstera Thai con baby in there too. So, the lights I have, have burned a few of my leaves:( The large gorgeous leaf on my el choco is toast, as is one of my baby Thai leaves. So clearly, my lights are too powerful for the plants I’m growing under them. I’m wondering if your lights would be safe to use to grow the plants that I mentioned, or if you’ve had any issues with the intensity of your lights burning any of your plants. Also, I haven’t gotten around to ordering pegboards for my cabinets yet but while rewatching this video, it just occurred to me that the little white plastic pieces that ikea includes (the ones that you screw into the holes to keep the glass snug, as well and that the shelves rest on, might be in the way. Will I have to remove the ones that are screwed into the back/spine separating the two back pieces of glass, in order to get the pegboards installed? I know I will need some washers to create a gap between the pegboards and the glass in order to have the room to add the shelves and accessories onto the pegboards, but can I leave the plastic pieces in place or must they be removed? I think in order to fill my cabinet the way I want to, and to avoid having my plants sit directly underneath the lights, (they’re centered under each shelf) that the pegboard shelves and accessories would be great in keeping my more light sensitive plants from sitting directly beneath the lights, and allow me to add many more of the plants that would really benefit from the greenhouse humidity and conditions in general. So basically, did you remove the plastic pieces before installing your pegboards and have you ever found the intensity of your lights to be an issue. Thank you so much for all of your helpful information and for posting these videos. They have been so super helpful throughout the whole process of setting up and designing my greenhouse cabinets!

      @@PlanteriorDecorator You know, at the time, I found the lack of winter daylight really depressing, but, looking back, I don't think I appreciated the city as much as I could/should have. Still, I hope people watching this video understand how much of an accomplishment it is for you to grow such lush tropicals in such a unfavourable climate.
