You can pretty much put anything in a loop that has a decent amount of bite. Sometimes for this fly i will use turkey or peacock wing instead of amherst. When you get to tying this one alot its possible to do the whole fly with 2 loops. Love this shop and love this fly!!
Nice fly ! To bad the Pacific Salmon and Steelhead will be gone soon . I use to go to Idaho and Washington to fish for them but the numbers are so low now it's sad. Steelhead are just not as important as a Canadian wolf to the ESA according to those mismanaging things .
Are the bugger hackle packs a good use for this? Having a lot of success off these hackle patterns but cuss a lot trying to tie them just right. Thanks for the vids, your an easy person to keep up with but bring back the tunes.
Special effects! In Hollywood everything looks easy. Seriously though, if it's giving you problems, try course hair next to the base. Give it a good comb through and stack it many times lightly instead of too hard.
@@theportlandflyshop thanks, I always end up doing it by hand in small amounts which isn't a problem for clousers but this fly gets to me in larger sizes. 🤙
First time I've seen deer hair in a dubbing loop. Interesting! Thanks!

Caught my first steelhead on this pattern. Summer run. Black with a small amount of blue!
One of my all time favs ....🔥
Cool looking fly but holy crap it took me forever to tie lol
Ya, they can be time consuming, but when you open your box and evey single fly is bad ass, its pretty sweet

Ya, bugger packs will work. You may have to sift through the pack to find the prime feathers
Ok Jason, how is it I watch all y'all stack bucktail with no problem? My shit always looks worse after it comes out of stacker.
