Chris is right. There was a complete disconnect from our world. This is not even our galaxy and it's all in their past. But now we have Space Suits, kart wheels in space, Gym bags, Camp fires in open space, nuditty, pronouns, weaves, locks, injected sexuality, isms, etc... All since Disney ownership. This is not Star Wars, it's Hollywood and surrounding hills. George told Carrie, "There are no bras in this galaxy." Meaning they would have a different way to solve the same problem. Their physics is not ours.

Very much so... they run into Ben (Herbert the Pervert) issues.
This whole "You're a murderer but you're hot and I want you" thing is appalling. Aside from its moral wretchedness, people don't behave this way. Not anyone you'd want to associate with, anyway.
Knowing that incarcerated serial killers have no shortage of women who propose marriage to them, that's the only realistic part of this entire show.
Having Rey fall for the guy who gutted her father figure should have been the canary in the coal mine.
Women find murderers irresistible in real life. They also like sox offenders for some reason. Women who work in men's prisons eventually get knocked up, usually in under a year. It's because the animal part of their brains misidentifies violent tendencies as being a good protector. Like, they think a violent man will use violence against outside attackers, while it's more likely he'll use it on the woman.
Wattpad ahhh cliche of falling for the bad boys. The “i can fix him” fantasy syndrome which leads to so many unhealthy toxic and abusive relationships irl when people can’t see escapism for what it is anymore
Tone it down to “You’re a jerk bit you’re hot and I want you” and *a lot* of people behave in that way. Then they complain about their toxic relationships 😅

You asked if the ‘stranger’ is the green Jedi’s former Padawan. The real question is, why would that be interesting? It’s not a twist or addition to the narrative that works because green Jedi is barely a character. The biggest reaction that would yield is ‘huh…’ because there are no characters in this show.

Chris, this show breaks new ground in terms of sexualization of children. Star Wars was made for kids. This show crosses the line. As a parent, I’m outraged.

Episode 3 did not kill Star Wars. The sequel trilogy did. Acolyte is not that important. It's a crappy show on d+. Also Amandla looks a little above average, but I wouldn't say she's gorgeous, not even close.

I'm about the same age as Chris, and I've seen a lot of tv shows over my 57 (58 on Monday) years. This show is possible the worst tv show I've ever (not) seen. I thought Asohka was terrible. This might be worse. My mother who passed in 2022 would've called this show "an insult to my intelligence". It literally has ZERO redeeming value. It's embarrassing that this is actually made. FANS make better shows than shows than this. Look at all the Star Trek fan fics that are better than this, and they cost Peanuts in comparison, made by amateurs! This is depressing that these talentless hacks get money to make this crap.

It is obvious that nepotism hire Venestra is Sith master, how else can Headland subvert star wars by making her wife good and the Jedi bad. But then again it is not about good or evil but power says Headland while flipping good and evil.
I also don't get how someone who was a Padawan learner for years, thinks a lightsaber is a gun. And is afraid to stun Mae in the second episode. She chooses to stun a wall instead. Here's the worst obvious thing. Darth Vader's suit breathes for him, as his lungs are burned. Why is she breathing like that? Smilo and Kylo don't, and it's Smilo's helmet. So very dumb. I really wish they would stop calling Padawans Jedi and Ahsoka Jedi. They are not. A Sith Disciple is not a Lord. A Jedi Padawan is not a Knight. And yes it's Disciple not Acolyte. Shows how much Headland knows about anything.

That’s what Disney Star Wars will be remembered for: watching it once then never talking about it again.
Female gaze, if one has to call it that way, was also present at the same time... how many series are there with half naked men? Hundreds, so many shows where the men are shirtless... women are mostly covered, sure, they wore short stuff, but never without clothing on from hip upwards. So the women are more clothed than men.
The last three episodes have Sol saying he's going to tell all. He's said nothing. We all know it's going to be another flashback episode. A whole episode to show us what everyone has known from the begining. These eight episodes could have been two episodes. Just like Ashoka they feature Disney/Lucasfilm's Filoni sytle dire-log, instead of dialog. No arm folding while delivering it, as yet though. It's the only thing that has me suprised. Smilo's Master could be revealed. Or they could save that for last. Eighter way this is beyond boring now. It past laughable to reach pathetic. Disney's new now getting old gold standard.

A prediction: Deadpool will emerge from multiverse and destroy Headland and Kennedy in epic fashion so the show will never get a chance to be completed and there will be much rejoicing....Yaaaay!
My theory: Vernestra is a Sith lord Q boy is her apprentice...The scars on Q's/ Smilo's back are from her whip. The slaughter of Osha's people was ordered by Vernestra. Four of the jedi that are being targeted knew about the orders to slaughter, but couldn't say anything because Vernestra either has something over them that would eject them from the Jedi Order, or convinced them it was necessary and just.. One of Osha's mothers is still alive and Vernestra wants the Jedi dead before they contact her find out Vernestra is a sith. Master Torbin ended himself because he is the only one who knew Vernestra was a sith but never said anything and he regrets slaughtering the witches and betraying the Jedi order.

Nothing much happens in ALL the episodes outside of the cliched characters continually changing their motivations based on self-serving/easily-led emotions (while sadly helping to further 'normalise'/'encourage' EVEN more of that self-serving and emotionally-led/devolved victimhood) ......EVERY five minutes!...... to shamelessly help 'extend' (drag out) this badly written/plotted fan-fiction/cos-play to a longer, two month 'quantity over quality' subscription (and ironic SELF-punishment).

The lightsaber whip is canon in EU. Read the Darth Bane trilogy. It was wielded by a Sith acolyte. Also Darth Bane had Beetle creatures that fed off the dark side energy he had but also protected and healed him like a suit of armor. It's a badass trilogy, highly recommended.

@@MedalionDS9 I think they've just got no new ideas. Even Stargate, which was a pretty good show, eventually became like Star Trek. Spaceships with shields, teleporters, etc. In fact even a few stories were direct copies of Star Trek. When you look at all the fan fic out there, with original new stories, it's an insult that talentless hacks at Disney get these high budgets to make shows.

I think someone just thought the word "Acolyte" sounded cool. The show has a very vague connection to the actual definition of an acolyte. "The Moronic" seems more appropriate.

I agree right from episode 1, Osha & Mae have a bad hair style. Should’ve not had the bangs/fringe over her forehead. Cornbraid off her forehead or give her a crisp, sharp side part. The actress in real life looks really nice with a side part or full hair. Osha & Mae would have looked better bald.

I don’t care about the show or gender equality, I’m just throwing this out for argument sake:
There is a biological default where women are weaker than men, and this is balanced by men typically being more susceptible to distraction and manipulation by boobs than women are by ballsacks. Because of this, the implications of a woman getting naked in front of a man are more dependent on external circumstances. Is she being manipulated into this, or is she using this to manipulate? Or she being manipulated into this and then using her sex appeal to turn the tables? A man is typically not going to be forced out of his clothes by a woman unless he wants to be.
All this being said, male and female gaze are both real things with different implications and a good writer will know how to frame them appropriately instead of pretending they are interchangeable.
