Awe thanks, yes it's very cosy surrounded by plants near the summerhouse. All we are lacking is a cosy blanket and some cushions. We spend a lot of time on those steps looking out onto the garden. 😀💚
Good advice there Paul. All I seem to be doing is deadheading and watering at the moment but I don't mind that as I can see all the plants close up. For some reason I never actually sit down and relax in my garden as I always see something that needs doing. I have new neighbours and the two young girls are doing my head in with their constant screaming. They sound like they're being murdered. I'm not bothered by normal children's play but I can hear them shouting when they're inside their own house so I feel sorry for the people attached to them. I suppose I've got this for the whole of their Summer break. At least when they're in school I get some respite. I'm surprised that the parents don't say something to them but I think that being aware of other people has gone out of the window. I wish I had my old neighbour back! I've just remembered that you'll be off work Andrew. That will be nice for you to have some extra time in your garden. Enjoy! xxx
Same with us we have a children’s nursery 2 doors away I often wonder why children need to scream instead of talking normally and another neighbour who breeds pigeons and flies them in the afternoon so they wizz around and around. I still like a nice garden but I don’t get as much pleasure from it as I used to. It’s a changing world I’m afraid.
@@sandra-bb5xq I feel for you as I once had a neighbour who had pigeons. I think that people who have hobbies like that should live in rural areas so they're not bothering people. Regarding the children, I'm more annoyed that the parents allow their children to scream like that. When the ice cream man pulls up, the girls next door yell "I SCREAM" and it gets louder and louder. I bet their old neighbours are glad to see the back of them.
Thanks Wendy, it's that time of year when it seems the garden is running away from us and we can't deadhead fast enough! Sorry to hear the new neighbours as spoiling your enjoyment of the garden. Hopefully it's just a phase and they will grow out of it (quickly!). We have small children in the vicinity too and filming can be problematic at times. I'd say roll on September but Andrew won't thank me for that as he's enjoying the time off! Take care xxxx
Hi Paul, what I'm doing: watering every other day for way too long, We'll have 34 on saturday and between 39 and 42 on sunday so I'm trying to schedule when to water. Deadheading roses, zinnias, dahlias, snapdragons, penstemons... I also did fertilise a bit late (the kind you give only twice during the seaon). I also have to tackle oidium problems on a lagerstroemia in a large pot and on some dahlias... I also had something like rust on penstemons... I have green bugs ready to attack my not even born tomatoes but I can't get myself to kill them :/ I took hydrangea cuttings, something called teucrium, another variety of penstemon, I've started to collect seeds (honesty, dill), I'm considering taking rose cuttings just for the fun of it. I can't remember the other channel I watch with the guy called Lars but one good tip he gave about when to stop deadheading if you want to be able to collect seeds is to keep doing it as long as you see new flower heads forming ;)
Hi, it's not been anywhere near as hot here as you are experiencing. We're the same with all the bugs and creatures, we let nature take its course and hope other creatures come along and deal with the problem for us. We have our calendula close to the tomatoes this year and that seems to be helping. We have Teucrium hircanicum which is a bit like a salvia with purple spires and self seeds quite a bit. Reliable and slug proof too. We love the channel you mean too - the perrenial garden. Lots of tips and a fabulous cottage garden. It's a busy month with all the jobs to do but we wouldn't have it another way. There's plenty of resting time over winter. Take care and thanks 😊
Oh dear, it's not been that hot where we are luckily. The hottest so far this summer has been around 27oC 😎. We would be the same if it gets as hot as a few years ago in the late 30s.
The view at 6:13 is so hyggeligt as we say in Denmark :) Looks so cozy on that step in your garden :)

@@radieschen1965 That's a good idea. This used to be a quiet area.

My August task include hiding inside until it cools down and keeping things alive in under 10 minutes outdoors.

@@MadAboutGardening It will be cool before I know it. September is usually very nice and had flowers into beginning of November last year.
@@MadAboutGardening 35c today or 95 degrees in US.
