@OzzInter The Magnum wasn't a genuine CASEIH Tractor. It was based off of a proto-type that IH had built but never saw the light of day before the merger.
If IH could have held on long enough to introduce the Magnum themselves they probably would have survived. Also the 5000 series tractors, IMO were not well engineered. The forward airflow did not work as well as it was supposed to. The transmission was a joke with the exception of it being synchronized. The doors still hinged at the front and should have been changed with those models. It was poorly balanced. Our 1086 could lift much more without weights than our 5088.
@@66limelight not so sure if IH could of hung on look at Oliver and there constant variable transmission if they would of released it it would of made deere and IH look like they were in the stone age but white motor corporation fucked that up . I'm agreeing that if they hung on they could of lasted but look at all the bs that went down in the 80s
We bought a brand new 275, a 7230 combine on tracks brand new, 335 and 350 brand new steigers :D gotta get a Steiger on tracks to :D case all the way! Nothing gets stuck like a Deere! Lol
i grew up by the original JI Case tractor plant in Racine Wi, too bad they tore it down really sad to see it go! fiat bought case and over seas politics got in the way!
Our tractors used to be all red and now we're mostly green although I do have a late model CIH 260. When the new Magnum 7100 series came out in 87 they were head and shoulders above anything on the market. A roomy cab for it's time. Power shift transmission was standard on all 7100 models. A Cummins engine. A former JD salesman told me at that time JD lost a LOT of sales to the Magnums until JD came out with their 8000 series tractors. We don't have any JD 'R' series tractors but we do have an 8130, 8330, 9530. Comparing those to my CHI 260 I have to admit that as far as user-friendly controls and settings I give the nod to JD. JD also has a much better (comfort wise) passenger seat. I give the nod to CIH for being a quieter cab, a much better and more user friendly door latch from the inside of the cab, a much easier to use clutch pedal than the JD. I don't know why JD doesn't go to that hydraulic clutch that CIH has always used. Even the last IH 5000 series tractors had that.... I don't know if the JD R series have it.
"you just get an A+ on that" perfect statement! Our 7250 has been working perfectly the 3 years we've had it:)
I live close to racine, abd even though im more of a Deere fan it would be cool to see the Magnums roll off the lot and be shipped out.
