This movie was unlike most nuclear apocalypse movies, it was very realistic and made me cry at the end. All we have is now. Be kind to one another and love is the most important thing.
I wish people would talk about nukes more. I wish people feared them more. Our leaders now seem to act tough and fearless like its a game.
Back in the day the US and the USSR were more responsible. They always kept communications open.
Today i think we might be in trouble.
The USSR did a fairly good job of acting like an actual country. What's in charge in "Russia" now is the gangsters that the USSR had kept suppressed. The only saving grace there is that "Russia" may have actually sold their nuke weapons on the black market for I dunno, heroin and solid gold belt buckles or some shit.
Tell this to fuck'n Putin!
If out of blast zone, and have basement. with time to seal leaks, cover windows with dirt, and a high snorkel vent, with water food, I'd stay 2 months. people will turn into violent beast in seconds.
@nathanrector5584 😩 ‘ GOOD LUCK WITH THAT! ’
Yep.
None of that matters. Nuclear winter would end civilization. It's better that we do everything we can to stop it from happening in the first place.
Nope. That's not going to work. Everything will be contaminated....
Hopefully god Jesus willing it won’t come down like that
Thanks for this. We all have to think of how we would react: run into the unknown in search of safety, or stay in the familiar, facing near-certain death?
Whateve your answer right now, it’s a harder decision than you think.
What would be point of evacuating from nuclear attack? No where would be safe to go. That woman had the best attude and that was to stay in her home with her husband and die there. If my mum was still alive she would be in her 90s by now, we would not of evacuated and stayed in her bungalow and died together there.
Same story here, my Ma would not have left , and all the strength in the world ,would not have dragged me from her ,despite ,what I know ,would have been her protestations to try help myself. Its not bravery ,I think it is peace of mind ,and its not a debt paid either ,but an appreciation and a final choice. I KNOW ,my father ,taken from us years before ,would have known why . If someone doesnt understand it ,doesnt mean they are bad , but they never will.
Wife: I'm not leaving
Me: We sure had some good years together, didn't we?
Wife: Yes, we did
Me: I'm gonna miss you. Bye!
Word!!
About that divorce settlement.
Our family just happened to have a conversation about this a few weeks ago and we all agreed that there would be nowhere to run; and we made the decision to just remain at home and whatever happens, happens. Who knows for sure though?
I've been Prepping since the late 70's. I am retired and my team will be here on the farm when SHTF. Most team members live less than 15 miles from the farm and can use county roads to get here.
This was an outstanding film, the couple made the right decision for them in their situation. The aftermath of nuclear conflict would be hell on earth. Possibly almost certainly some will live through it but not the elderly, we are toast either way. So yes those two were brave and honorable people who made a good choice, for themselves. Thank you for posting this, there are damn few films worth watching and this certainly was one.
For soon.. the living will envy the Dead
Thought provoking. This movie reminded me of the early 1960s when there was a strong threat of nuclear war. I remember coming home from school and I was young then and so afraid. We had drills in school and in our town. The war sirens were tested frequently. All we heard on the radio and read in the papers were the real possibility of nuclear war. This movie depicts well the conversations I heard between my parents, family and friends.
As of today there’s 8 ships and a submarine from Russia docking in Cuba
@@tommysimmons5266 there are no nuclear weapons on board.
@@tommysimmons5266 yes and thankfully there are no nuclear weapons on board.
@@Vorachan1111 really the most fear Russia submarine and you don’t think there’s nuclear weapons on board? This submarine would be the Red October for the Russians
Senators and congressmen going home to help their constituents 😂😂😂😂😂
Right?? That’s almost as likely as Isreal starting to act like a trustworthy US “Ally” 😂😂. Nope
Government officials and their families are safely tucked away deep underground in bunkers...
Fine cinema. A great interpretation of The British film ' When The Wind Blows' an animated movie about an elderly couple facing the same situation.
That movie is one of my favorite, along with Threads.
Mad max 1 2 and 3 even though they are totally different.
Used to rent those mad max movies.
I remember my parents paid like 600 bucks for a vcr when they first became popular and movie rentals came out.
I dont thing there's movie rental place left anywhere.
There would probably be no warning, except the power and other signals going down.
That happens after the blast.
@@DROPsFamilyGardenBooooooooooom! Hip hip........hooray...
Smiiiiiiiile
It would be the EMO electro magnetic pulse that would happen first, which would cause the lights to fail.
I know one thing I would not want to survive.. any kind of nuclear war.. or the hell that comes after it.. to die of radiation poisoning it's very slow.. I would want to get it over with as fast as possible
This is an EXCELLENT film, but a bit chilling in view of the present geo-political circumstances. Thank you for showing!
When we had the false missile attack alert in Hawaii I remember everyone stopping in their tracks and checking their phones. Then we all looked to the sky and then at each other. Most of us just continued on with our day while a few took off in a panic. The all-clear came maybe 7 minutes later. It was nice to see everyone stay calm and not run around like raving lunatics.
Bravo!! Well done!!
The acting in this movie is excellent. Bravo to the whole cast!
It's hard to convey the feeling of live in a mere movie, but this did it.
A brilliant film, thank you.
My own personal opinion is that some things are not worth surviving.
2021 - Nice to see the "diversity" of people gathered together and enjoying each other's company - initially, but this scene would be quite rare today, at least for me where I reside. This is what America could & should be, but today we are so polarized. Anyways, there's nothing like a good breakfast & coffee with those you love. Then they can drop the "Big Egg". I had a temporary job assignment to do a 'manual labor' type work at a VA hospital in the mid 1970's. While removing - renovation - originally installed lockers (late 1940's), the workers placed period items behind before installation. Cool. One item was a municipal Civil Defense warning sign that would be posted on the wall. Instructions in case of a 'Nuclear Attack'. Last thing listed: If you see a Bright Flash take cover Immediately.
Instead, the world was given another 'Bomb'. The Russian Invasion of the Ukraine. February 24, 2022. Never know; we just might see the "Flash".
The most sentimentally, enjoying elements are the interactions between the focused people in the movie pending the ultimate interruption of their lives.
I greatly dislike how stupid and delusional the women are portrayed in this movie. Why are they so unreasonable, so totally without a single logical thought? And why can't they even follow any logical explainations or their husbands' advice?
As a woman, mother and grandmother, I wouldn't be anything like these delusional women. And I have already proved to be more thoughtful and logical in bad situations in my past.
People should choose to be who they want to be with.. we don’t all need to marry people of a different race because certain people think skin color mixes is the answer to everything. Let white people marry white people, let black people. Array black people…it’s OK, give it a rest.
You are correct. I just thought the mix at the party was nice to see. I didn't say that was the answer. I dated only with my group; Usually, when I grew up - 50s/70s - Same groups married same groups. Birds of a feather flocked and lays eggs together. 🖕 @@rashone2879
I'm grateful I live in a town where diversity isn't rare.
@@ptownRandy1 Cool. Diversity was an element that made America a strong nation with many opportunities and rewards. Shame that people gain power and deny these rights or as the Declaration of Independence declared: "God given rights" which should be for "All". Thank you for your reply.
This movie should be shown across the entire planet this is what's going to happen if you drop that bomb..
I think Putin and all our world leaders should watch this.
@@garyturner5739 you know something I will agree.. but what's scary about this ..the bombs that are being made today.. are stronger than the bombs that were dropped on Japan.. we are not talking about just eliminating a city anymore.. the nuclear bombs that are being made today can take out half of a state..nobody will win everyone will die.. that fear alone should keep the Trigger Happy warmongers from actually doing it
Man, I've seen a lot of junk movies on TH-cam. This wasn't one of them. I'm pleasantly surprised.
If somebody else said the exact same thing with the elderly couple it kind of reminds me of the cartoon movie as the wind blows.. and that was a disturbing so it was
Shockingly bad for a nuke movie 😞 its like the writers had no idea about nuclear war!
It doesn't get any better than Threads.
@@tallyforeman3145nothing beats that
He is right watch threads its is the most realistic and terrifying movie ever made about nuclear war i cant watch it again i tried but it bought back the absolute dread and terror it bought to me as a 15 yr old watching it back in 1984 i only got through the first 10 mins second time and was like f£%&k that, not going thru those awful thoughts and feelings again
Incredibly magnificent film.
So humane.
So close to our real feelings.
So trascendental.
Indeed...
(I'm very worry about what is geopolitically and bellically happening in Ukraine.
So far away???
Not at all; it's really too close).
👏👏👏👏👏💖👏👏👏👏👏
I get the impression the writers possessed a profound dearth of knowledge regarding the history, design and configuration - let alone use - of strategic weapons. It really undercuts the drama. Although the days of multi-MT warheads raining down by the tens of thousands are gone its worth noting that most modern weapons are considerably smaller in the 350-550Kt range and far fewer in number with about 3800 active weapons around the world - down from 70-80k that were active just 40 years ago. Instead of this canned, almost maudlin "after school special" production, I would recommend watching Threads (1984) where +300Mt was dropped on the UK over a course of sixteen hours (and after a realistic spiral from crisis to war).
I found this movie to be quite intense, and the ending, wow! I have read a lot of negative comments. I think with what is happening in the world around us, this movie scared a lot of people, perhaps subconsciously What is portrayed here should scare everyone.
We can thank the Biden Administration for putting us on the brink of nuclear annihilation!!
That was actually a pretty good movie.
Because I'm 71 years old, I think I'd rather die from the blast than live, with what remaining life I had left, with the aftermath.
I'll be on my front door bible in one hand and a ciggy in the other enjoying my last smoke before meeting the old man up there
Ironic because it's that last cigarette that is going to prevent you from being saved. Really? Right before you are going to meet your maker you're going to SIN? So be it then. 😑
Don't listen to the negative reviews from simple minded people. This is a well done, sophisticated movie, with depth of characterization and a message of the power of love.
I n 1962 I was 10 years old. I remember how close we came to the end of everything.
This was extremely cogent, current, and well done.
Chilling stuff.
Yes, I agree. It's hard to comprehend the negative comments, except to brush them off as immature.
Awesome film, it shows it all without showing anything much at all.
The blast is the end, because there is no survival…
Lost for words of what to think about it
sheltering is possible if you do the necessary steps. normalcy bias is detrimental
Worth watching.
Great movie. Very true to what may happen to us in this lifetime. Good luck and God bless us all
It's going to be much worse in our lifetime. War, diseases, disasters, famines, floods, earthquakes......it's time to repent and may Yah have mercy on us.
It's today's Threads or Day After for 21at century this tv drama.
Beautiful ending. 💞
Love the ending.
The VERY ending? You must mean the lead up to the ending.
@@runcaz7802 not at all. If the nukes come, I would rather be vaporized instantly. I'm over 60, rather disgusted with American society now... Let the young ones try to survive the aftermath, which will be worse than anyone can imagine.

Early in the guys comments on blind patriotism and the seriousness was good and very true. We are aboutto experience this in live time. Most of the show is not so hot.
The truth of the matter is that for us it's going to be much worse than this movie.
Excellent
Very good film makes you think heaven forbid this every being played out , well acted out too was made very realistic.
Uma realidade que pode acontecer a qualquer momento. Triste em saber que o homem pode destruir o que Deus fez com tanto amor
" the living will envey the dead"
This made some so sad 😞 pray that we never see this day!! ❤
Prayer is the only way out.
☢️💥Damn the end part omg scary & Sad💥☢️
The atomic boom-banger goes KA-WHAM & we all fry when we die. So long, its been good to know ya. I wanna live forever & die down dead never. Will my scorched, skull wind up being on some Alien's desk thousands of years in the future, having been brought back from some archaeological expedition? They'll say, "Who was this guy & how did he die?". Well, I'm old dead Fred & I fried when I died, Clyde!
This is a clear case of what not to do! The senior couple had a basement, they could have fortified it and been more safe instead of dancing in the living room and being blown to smithereens. As far as the couple who decided to get on the road, my guess is they never made it 20 miles. You can not out run a nuclear attack, stay put and protect yourself from the blast and fallout. Those who live in big cities have less of a chance of survival unless they have access to a bomb shelter because any roads out of the city will be gridlock. I live in the deep south, in a state that has no military installation that would be deemed a target. If you survive what comes afterwards, being in a warmer weather state increases your ability to have water and food that's not contaminated. It's pie in the sky thinking I know, but we have enough sense to know we're at the precipice where anything is possible. BTW, we have guns to protect ourselves from the lawlessness sure to follow when society has been decimated!
How do you know they had a basement?
Clearly you are young, that couple made the best possible choice at the end of their lives. In that situation and at their age, life would be short and horrific. Something a young couple might live through but for those in their senior years, it simply is not possible. They are examples of brave and honorable people, not to mention in the end we are all going to die, how better in the arms of those you love, at peace with your life. There is no such thing as limited nuclear war, once it starts we will all be back in the stone age, most likely looking at a new ice age. The last time we did that we were a hell of a lot tougher and even then only about 10000 humans lived by the time it was done.
@@charlescoffey9523 Dude, I'm halfway through my seventies so don't make asinine assumptions while trying to make a point. Remember you don't know anything about individuals posting their OPINIONS, most of the time you'll be wrong and miss the mark! If and when you reach my age you grab onto every second of life available to you, and they had options like the basement or leaving!
@@swamp5050 You are slightly older than me, I am 68 but we will have to agree to disagree. But perhaps it is possible you do not have clear understanding of what life would be like after a nuclear exchange. I am not sure what choice I would make myself under those circumstances but I certainly understand the context of why this couple choose as they did. What surprises me is that you do not. Would life in pain and with loss of ones dignity really mean that much to you? You need to remember that we are not just talking about the guy but his wife who was disabled. After a strike there will be no medical for anyone especially those of us who are older. I hope neither one of us ever has to face such a choice. I still liked the film and thought it well done, not a typical end of the world film but a very human one.
@@charlescoffey9523 Firstly I'd like to direct you to a couple of movies on YT, Threads and The Divide. I've been through some stuff, the cold War in the 50's where we had weekly drills at school where we had to get under our small wooden desks and put our arms over heads to protect ourselves incase of a nuclear attack. The Soviet Unions threat when President Kennedy and Khrushchev almost came to nuclear blows, the World at the time understood this could have been the end had not Kennedy out maneuvered the Russian. Having survived Hurricanes mud slides fires and so many earthquake's I lost count, plus the worst tornado I've ever experienced and survived last week and still in recovery mode. The moral of my story is I never once gave up on living no matter what it might look like. While nuking the planet would be devastating to recover from preparation is key. It will be a struggle for whatever time is remaining to you, but giving in has never been part of my plan. PPE's, I have two gas masks and extra filters, water purifiers food and all the necessary personal survival equipment. Now at my age it's possible I die of natural causes, but just incase I intend to fight for life till the bitter end. 😎
Such a sweet old couple...

Good movie, but where are the dancing girls?
A scenario like this is actually on the back burner right now as I speak.. the nuclear bombs that are being made today.. are stronger than the ones that were dropped on Japan.. that should scare the crap out of everybody.. we are not talking about taking out a city anymore ..we're talking about taking out damn near half a state..
The way the world is today now this could happen at anytime its seriously choas
Too DEFEATIST!
Happy endings are not very realist when nuclear bombs are involved...
The producers took a smart tack. They picked regular people to be victims

This movie sucks. It plays like a 6th grade amateur film project. 😂 i wasn't expecting AAA here but not high school level
It does read like the strange child of an old After School Special and the low-budget Outer Limits revival from the 80's, right up to the punch-out ending.
Worst dialog I've ever heard.
Half way through the movie and what I can say is that listening to the women was insane. In times of emergency they tend to be too emotional. Their decision to stay home instead of evacuating was potentially suicidal. Mawkish ideas like 'at least we'll die together and that's all that matters' is just the sort of rubbish I have come to expect from them. If there was ever a time for a hopefully more level-headed male to take charge and just force the woman to do as she is told it was then. Certainly it was no time for off the wall social experiments like feminism or abolition.
I'm a male and I agree with her. First of all, the evacuation would be at a standstill within an hour. Check out Miami during Hurricane Andrew. There would fights and deaths over supplies before you even leave. There will be no supplies including gas while on the road. People will be like locusts and consume everything. For me, I know my town and have friends I can count on or who I can help. And, don't expect to stop anywhere. Wherever evacuations occur, expect those without cars to use violence to obtain a car. The vast majority of people will be in a hostile and violent territorty. The locals will not be happy to see their population triple, quadruple or more and take their resources. 90% of the population will be dead within two weeks. I rather die in my home.
At 1:00.47 makes no sense what the news report says, he says it's hard to say how many life's are lost and the damage but I can tell you this 2 million dead and over 3 million injured and the center of London was hit. Guess it wasn't to hard after all, not that good of a movie people saying it is are lying it's like one of them movies that they didn't put much money into making it one part you hear sirens but they don't show a police car or nothing they saved money by having the sound but no actual vehicle lol
The acting in this is excellent.
