  • In this video, I go over the idea of what note names are based on and how anyone can memorize them with very little effort.
The note names are based on the C major scale, which is the foundational scale in Western music without any sharps or flats.
    The C major scale consists of the following notes: C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C.
Triads in the C Major Scale:
    C Major (I):
    Notes: C, E, G
(Root: C, Major third: E, Perfect fifth: G)
    D Minor (ii):
    Notes: D, F, A
(Root: D, Minor third: F, Perfect fifth: A)
    E Minor (iii):
    Notes: E, G, B
(Root: E, Minor third: G, Perfect fifth: B)
    F Major (IV):
    Notes: F, A, C
(Root: F, Major third: A, Perfect fifth: C)
    G Major (V):
    Notes: G, B, D
(Root: G, Major third: B, Perfect fifth: D)
    A Minor (vi):
    Notes: A, C, E
(Root: A, Minor third: C, Perfect fifth: E)
    B Diminished (vii°):
    Notes: B, D, F
(Root: B, Minor third: D, Diminished fifth: F)
