Not all roms are compatible and there is a temp file in the OS that must be cleared but it does not always wipe on restart. Carts use the temp file and rewriting the flash in ADB does as well. The temp folder behavior can be monitored and the behavior is obviously random so deleteing in windows or linux returns the console to a state ready for cart use.
I have a Streets of Rage 2 reproduction cart that has both the American and Japanese ROMs on it. I'm planning to buy one of these and test it on there to see if it loads both ROMs or if it doesn't work at all
I would strongly recommend buying the official Mega Everdrive by Krikzz, but I understand people not wanting to go to the website to buy it, the price is a bit more but it’s a quality product.

The Flashback is NOT working like a real Genesis. The Flashback *just* rips the rom out of the cartridge and then load it to the emulator. But this multi rom cartridges works not that way. There is a little startup rom / stub that shows you the menu where you select a game, when you select one it will write some *magic* data to the databus what the hardware inside the cardridge detects and then loads the game you selected to 2 flash banks (thats while you see an erase screen before on some). If copying to flash is finished, the executing pointer will moved to the start of the loaded game, and here you go. So all the Flashback maybe could rip out of the cartridge would just be the loader stub, in some rar cases the last game that was loaded to the internal flash, depending on how the card works. So no, never ever a special card (like Gamegenie, too) will work on flashback.

If u don't care about save-states and u play on something real (not this AT-rubbish, then use a real emulator), look for "SEGA 820-in-1 cart" from your trusted china-dealer ;-) It's similar to the *Everdrive* (clone), but with SD-Card Slot instead of fix soldered flash-chip. So you can really have nearly every game made for megadrive on one cartridge. For the real sh*t: check out Krikzz.com Everdrive X7, there u have things like YM2413-emulation, save-games, fast sram instead of slow eeprom each time u load a game, and so on...
Don't bother... it doesn't work. The AtGames Flashback (it's licensed but it's not really a Sega system, sorry) is emulator-driven... poorly. You can get a real Genesis off ebay cheap enough still.

Have you tried any of the Spider-Man games Maximum Carnage separation anxiety? I tried Samurai shodown, one of my favorite fighting games and unfortunately it does not work on the flash back. So before I buy any more I'm wanting to know if those two titles maybe in your collection and if they work?
Have you tried the flashcart that atgames made specifically for it's last generation Genesis console? It used to be called atgames firecore passport, now it's called the mega expert. No save states, but it worked just like an everdrive on the older atgames Genesis console. If you can get ahold of one, I'd like to see if it works on the flashback you have. The atgames consoles really seem to suck. Why even bother releasing that crap hardware.... Really wonder whether that machine is selling well on global markets.
You can get a used og sega for like 40 bucks and get mega cart for 50 or so that's what I did works great can go the sega classic mini route thou and get a usb with all the games for hdmi it's a bit more going that route thou and nothing beats a crt on these old consoles in my opinion

I’m glad AtGames completely upgraded their Genesis with the 2018 version. It’s WAY better.
See if the Everdrive X3 works on the At games Mega drive (the firecore variant)

I got one of the 1000 in 1 cartridge's off internet if works perfectly in the mega drive loads up every time played loads of classics

try the powerbase converter and 32x
