A human is nothing more than a squishy slurry of think-juices riding a calcium based form mecha with a protective layer of organic delf-healing compounds known as "flesh". And the skeleton is rock hard
I've been playing Arena pretty casually for a few months now, only playing with the starter decks. I've been saving my wildcards to build a decent standard deck, but haven't ever had the large amount of rares and mythics needed. I watched this video and finally found a fun looking deck that I actually have the wildcards to make, and I can already say I'm having a blast! Thanks Seth! I'm sure for more experienced players this may feel like a janky deck, but for me, it's easily the best deck I've played with and it's a ton of fun!
I find its mostly an experience thing. Pay close attention next time you play, whats good against the deck you play and what isn't? then if u play against a similar deck to yours you'll know what it's weakness are. Another way to learn how to side board is just watch good players do it. U have already started doing that with this channel which is great. Ask yourself why is his side boarding is good? what is he doing you are not. Hope this helps!
Thanks (although honestly sometimes I feel like I default to trimming cards to easily when I should probably be taking out more copies of a single card).
As a player who really wants to play skeleton tribal but doesn’t think it has enough representation, I was so mad when myrkul, Lord of *Bones* wasn’t a skeleton.
1:02:43 I love it when you can hear things other than what the streamer is saying, which paint a picture about what's going on. With seth you can sometimes hear him stroking his beard when he's thinking. Or the "donk" as he whacks the mic holder when something huge happens (I imagine him throwing up his hands in despair and hitting it on the way up). Guy on SCG had trucks going by the other day, he was in a big city somewhere. I think what we heard this time was him gasping for breath after throwing his headset to the floor when Aldrund's Epiphany resolved.
I've been working on a skeleton swarming for a while but instead of more skeletons I run it with just good green black support/ramp and then 3 maskwood nexuses and then drop one like a craterhoof when I'm ready
~16:30, I think the play was taking 4, then using the skelly to deadly brew on your turn to get back the innkeeper, then using binding on Kaya, then paying the 1 for a new skelly. More blockers, less life, more treasure.
I know this sounds weird BUT I added Moon blessed cleric to search for enchantments. I cast it with treasure or white dual lands I can search up with Binding of the old gods. Also can search out meathook massacre against aggro. Meathook massacre just has good synergy with skeletal swarming.
Just checked out this deck. Looks interesting. What about running that one (kinda bad) changeling that adds a +1/+1 counter to a creature with ETB? I don't remember what it is, but I don't think it was that good, however, it is a skeleton that could help return the Moss Pit with the counter
0:13 The insect flying left to right across the screen made me rewind to see if it was part of the video or part of my environment. Luckily, it was the former.
Maybe you could go into Sultai for Bears of Littjara as an honorary Skeleton? Ofc it wouldn't be budget anymore, but it could be worth it just for gags
Ok so question . What would you replace if you had a full set of toski. Also if this was in BO1 what lesson package would you run, maybe a couple more twitch’s for more lessons per game or easier access . Hope some one sees this I like this deck but I’m not sure where to go on this one. Thanks for the list
In the last turn of the last game, what if you use infernal grasp to kill the dragon that he chose? would it be death for when the spell resolves and do 0 damage? or the sucession of the pile is faster than the creature dieing?
So I took it to Fridaynight Magic two days ago. Couldn't get two crippling fears and left the Dealy Despites and Village Rites laying on the dresser as I put it together as I was going out the door XD But even without them I want to say it's a pretty good little budget deck! I expected to lose every round but have fun singing "Spooky Scary Skeletons" while getting curb stomped and yeah that happened with a fairly optimized Gruul Werewolves the first time but the second? I made him sweat when I got Maskwood down and ordere an all out attack with 5/1 "Skeletons" XD I made a light mistake of attacking Arlinn instead of directing it all at the face but honestly it made me realize I needed too shift my tactics brain too hard-core-hit-the-gas-aggro the rest of the night wasn't as bad! Bricked once or twice or got Maskwood early and had to rely on Myrrkul Death Priest to keep a stomp deck off me but I I could have easily won the 2/3 matches I was in and that's amazing considering this deck probably cost me 22$ in resources and I had to cannibalize three decks for Generous Innkeepers. think I should have put in more deadly brews to make up for the lack of draw power or the fact my opponents figured out that if I swung and they only blocked a little I would be wide open with very little to respond with. I also should have just doubled down and spalshed some snow and tossed in some Blood on the Snow or something to help offset my lack of board wipes cause that's where this shines! It's literally anti-removal! XD Which is so rare! I actually wanted to go up against a deck that used removal and board wipes so I could be like 'Well thanks for the help brother!" Before making a literal army to attack them back with Lol All in all it was a good deck and kept me from playing a too slow Fynnfect deck which is my last assembled standard deck. So thanks for giving me a pretty good spooky month in rank and a little puzzle to work on.
Around 20:00, it wasn't so much a punt on the opponent's part as the opponent not having any good outs. Taking a million damage meant that they would lose the buffs to their Righteous Valkyries, leaving them with the choice of either going to 7 (and their Valkyries being a lot less powerful... that's blocking with just the 5/5) or losing their board. They chose to lose the board, figuring that they had a bunch of recursion in the deck, like all the Orahs. I'm not sure they were strictly wrong to do that, though I probably would have done things differently.
That was actually kind of the main idea behind the Jeskai Mutate deck last standard! Really complicated deck built around mutating onto Goldspan and storming off that was pretty high tier at one point.
Yeah, there are some similarities for sure (and after playing with Skeletal Swarming, it's pretty close to Assemble in power, they just work a bit differently - Swarming can close out the game in two or three turns, but doesn't offer a much value if the game goes longer, Assemble doesn't do all that much for the first few turns, but offers unbeatable value in a long game).
I don’t think Skeletal Swarming is necessarily that good, but it does massively increase my enjoyment of the games I play it by a disproportionate amount :-)
I've been playing this deck for a while and it competes. But not with any control decks like ones that take multiple turns. Cause you need a turn to do something. But can't do much about someone taking 6 turns. So sadly it won't win games. 😞
Haven’t finished watching yet, but just saying, if Faceless Haven is all creature types at the same time, wouldn’t Death-Priest see all 3 types listed and give Faceless Haven +3/+3 ?
I think running Meathook Massacre is important for this deck, against this board wipe control decks, for board states you cannot attack through, and for when you are behind.
Lol, yeah. That's happened a couple of times. I'm still waiting for the doggy door I order to get put in, which means leaving the door open for the puppy sometimes, which means flies :(
Why do people always fire off their draw spells before the discard? I understand that they will take the draw and is therefore a 2 for 1 but when you are digging for a critical, specific card it seems rather dubious.
Are you playing ranked? I just made this as my first deck and I'm playing ranked. Made my way up to Bronze 1 and I'm kinda curious where this deck might end up stalling out.
My favorite part is when Seth gets so excited and slips up and says “get the win with Squirre- We’re gonna do it with Skeletons!”
He also controlled no skeletons when he said that
5 creatures on board.
5 different creature types.
0 skeletons.
Seth: we're going to win with skeletons.
Me: where?
Skeletons on the inside.
They were inside you all along

Maybe the real skeletons were the mascots we cast along the way.

Seth losing his mind at 12:30 was like a solid soccer announcer. So much excitement contained in just a few seconds.

I'm both excited and nervous for the deck. Skeletal Swarming is a scary card
Seth ok we emptied their hand, now we just need a clock.
1/1 Inn Keeper: AM I A JOKE TO YOU?! 18 TURNS I GOT THIS!
lol "Can they find a way out of the skeleton trap?" Has 5 creatures on board, 0 of them are skeletons.
yeah, I kinda felt clickbaited tis time

if you're using Maskwood you could try Scute Swarm as well. scute tokens make very good skeletons.

I remember when I first saw this card, I loved it and it remains one of my favorite cards of all time 👍
That moment at 00:12:32 where Seth starts to sound like a commentator at a World Championship! Would really like to see that!
Punt at 30? Could have deadly brewed the liliana instead of binding especially since Seth was so worried about the opp getting swarming? Not sure.
thought the same thing. Especially with the eye twitch in hand
I would love to see an explorer version of this strategy, especially now that there's a fair new bit of Skeleton support!
That whole turn from 19:12 to 20:12 was something truly special.
I used Orvar the All-Form with Skeleton Swarming in previous standard
But for this you need more stuff that can target the enchantment
If I were you guys, 2 pithing needle in the sideboard to deal with wrenn and seven match up

I like that you don’t need a whole lot of creatures in play for this deck to win. A simple skeleton crew will do.
Loved the commentary on this One. You just sound like a Mexican Football sports commentator XD
I'm glad to see you're no longer scooping for the reason of "keeping information hidden".

Alrighty. Maybe crimson vow will have some.

Exactly what we wanted to see. Egg Zach Lee. I see you Seth.
29:46 why not Eye Twitch + Deadly Brew, then you can still hold up Binding?
