  • It's part of a long-term project by Saudi Arabia to boost the tourism trade. Riyadh wants to establish one million jobs in the sector by 2030, with the majority of workers coming from within the country. And as Francis Collings reports, training schemes are already underway.

    There is a difference between culture and religion. Islam requires women to cover her whole body except her hands and face, but nowhere it is said that it has to be pitch black! Women in my country also wear burqa and some wear niqab but they come in different colours and shades. These pitch black full abaya is more of a Saudi wahhabi culture rather than that of Islam. Even in Afghanistan they wear light blue.

      @Nóor Sister I am not against niqab, I myself wear full burqa and hijab. I am against this idea that we should wear fully black only. Black absorbs the most heat.

      57. O you who believe! Do not take as friends those who take your religion for a mockery and fun from among those who received the Scripture before you, and [not] the disbelievers; and fear Allah if you indeed are true believers. [Qur'an, 5:57]

      Imam Ibn Kathir (rahimahullah) said:
      "This Ayah [verse] discourages and forbids taking the enemies of Islam and its people, such as the People of the Book and the polytheists, as friends.
      These disbelievers mock the most important acts that any person could ever perform, the honorable, pure acts of Islam which include all types of good in this life and the Hereafter.
      They mock such acts and make them the subject of jest and play, because this is what these acts represent in their misguided minds and cold hearts."

      What did you expect when the European empire made the uneducated Bedouins as monarchy. IF their master say jump , they say how high. The plan was to do fitna in hijaz and najd, but siege of mecca in 70s and iran revolution stopped them and made the ap saud family scared to lose power hence why they give in to the salafist for a while. Now they have consolidated the power and feel confident. Took them 40 years.

    If they want to attract tourism the country would have to change it’s policy about their laws in order to get tourists.
    1. Allow liberal speech.
    2. Allow Women to have a say and rights.
    3. Allow LGBT+ people to live how they want.
    4. Allow Different Religious Beliefs
    If Saudi Arabia doesn’t change then they will be throwing money down the drain.

  • @OAlem
    @OAlem 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    If Saudi Arabia wants to attract that many foreigners and wants to use Spain as a model😂, they're going to have to change their entire society. Spain is the opposite of that country. Gays have rights, women have rights, and other religions have rights in Spain. It's one of the reasons it's attractive as a tourist destination. They're going to spend a lot of money before they realize that.

      @@FF-ch9nr 🇫🇷🇪🇺Well FF! I don’t know if you know this but those “tourists” are pilgrims going to perform hajj or umrah to Mecca the holiest shrine of Islam,so not your typical tourist. And not exactly beach ready or surfing going bikini wearing sunscreen tourists and let’s be honest I am not sure a country as conservative as Saudi Arabia is ready for tourism like that unless they have a change of mindset and culture.✌🏼

      @@starmoon4510 I have been to Saudi Arabia and literally nothing is stopping "pilgrims" to turn into "tourists". Once you're done with your religions duties you can go visit the beaches or go shopping in the cities in Saudi, Quite literally nothing is stopping you. And surfing and sunbathing isn't a thing in Saudi Arabia. Considering the weak tides and extreme radiation from the Sun. But even if they are, its not like surfing and sunbathing are the only things that make up a tourist. If I visit Norway and I don't surf or sunbathe, does that make me not a tourist? Besides when it comes to money, there isn't a difference between a pilgrim and tourist, both are visitors to a country that spends money on the country. So I don't get why you don't count "pilgrims" as "tourists". This isn't the medieval times anymore where Muslim, Christian, Hindu, or Buddhist pilgrims have to face extreme danger when doing a pilgrimage lol. ✌
