The food at that restaurant was fabulous. I'd go back to Ranong just to eat there again! I also want to go back and get the recipe for that lobster and egg in steamed milk ... it was outrageously good

Ranong doesn't have anything outstanding like other provinces in the country. But it is the place where I intend to retire.
That's because I love nature and polite, kind people.

While the city of Ranong is somewhat underwhelming there's a lot of natural beauty and cool stuff in the area. We loved the entire Andaman coast from Ranong to Thai Mueang Beach (we turned inland after that) and agree it's a good retirement option. You might also want to check out the Khanom Beach/Sichon area.
Except in the heavily touristed areas where the locals have been compromised by the relentless assault of tourists we find the Thai people to be polite and kind everywhere we go. Probably the best thing about Thailand.

@@unconventionaljourney I'm Thai and I lived there 5 years ago.
Khanom-Sichon coast That area is my home province.
Because Ranong is a simple, not chaotic city with waterfalls, mountains and the sea.
      So I like it there.
Now I live in Bangkok. and plan to move there when everything is ready
