Love the retro 80s look! Being an 80s kid this is what I grew up dreaming of owning!
The reason why the roll bar back in the day was taller is so your lights would shine in front of your truck not way down the road. With it level the cab is going to block the light causing a big shadow in front of you.
We kinda figured that out. But we’re working on it. Lights haven’t been hooked up yet. But we will test em when done
@@JHDieseland4X4 could make "u" shaped brackets instead of tabs to lift the lights a bit, pretty easy solution.
Only if the lights are flush mounted to the pole. Using a bracket to secure them may raise them up enough to avoid this scenario. Good looks tho.

My '79 F350 had a twin loop/ long kicker in chrome with the 4 BIG square KC's forward, 4 small pointed to the back, 2 amber rotators, and a small KC to each side. And yes 130amp alternator and dual batteries. Wish I still had that truck.
The 429 could move mountains at just off idle. I swapped it from a 400m

When I was little my dad had an 85 k20 blue and white had a bar and lights like that. I’m a square body guy for life 🤙🤙

@jh diesel and 4x4 bro if you want the best out of those kc lights get another so you have 6 and make it where you have 2 sideways 2 backwards and 2 frontwards. That is the best setup for offroding because at night you will be able to see 360 all around you no problems no blind spots and so on. Great job on the rebuild

I love this truck. It reminds me of my childhood. Both my uncles always had lifted square bodys
I did custom exhaust for about 5 years. Got very acquainted with one of those machines. Also wadded up plenty of pipe learning to do shit backwards, and sometimes certain bends have to come first. Looks damn good man

I've been there before. Burned a few shirts. That's why I don't stand in line with the grinder anymore. Also I love the look. Did something similar to my '88 F-150. I went with the drip-rail clamp style mount like the old patrol cars and department trucks used instead. I still want to be able to install a camper shell and some point.

What size tubing did you use? I actually was thinking of using exhaust tubing too as a bed roll bar.
Im looking at building one right now because i cant find one. Did you use 3” exhaust pipe? I was thinking of doing the same thing for my f150 since it wont be taken offroad on trails. My squarebody is different that ones getting sent offroad and down trails if its ever reliable enough to make it to a trail

Not the nitpick your work there Justin it should have been a double bar go straight down into the bed and then the down bars should have went back up onto the fender Wells that would have looked like an old school Chevy from the Fall Guy!

how much different would it be to make the rear bars end on the front angled part of the wheel well? I want one but It's cant be in between the wheel wells as I need to use the truck to be a truck. I had a 77 Chevy C10 Chevy sport that came factory with a rollbar that was done that way. It wasn;t for rollover just to hold lights. It has an AUX lights switch where the normal dual tank switch was. Made it real convenient to tie down tall stuff like a fridge....lol I'd like one like that one on my Current C20. how much do you think it would cost to have someone make that for me?
I like the idea, but I would gone with the loop going down the floor, and standing over the cab.
But then again for a project that didn't work out I got roof lights that came off a newer jeep.

The roll bar is suppose to mount to the floor of the bed not the bedside.
It's exhaust tubing. It's not a roll bar it's a light bar. That thing is pasta if the truck rolls.

Justin take off the snorkel and fabricate one from 3" stainless tube we do heaps here in Australia you can also do a steel one and paint to the same as your light bar.

My 1979 chevy K20 had triple role bars 454 big block . Turbo 400 an cast-iron transfer case. Two tone brown tan . It looked like the . Tv show falls Guys truck
